Even back in the seventies I remember a band director was envolved with a student ( they eventually got married) and a coach and a prominet family's daughter were envolved. Back then nobody seemed to think anything about it. When I was at Graham in the early 80s we had a teacher dating a current student. Everyone knew it, nobody cared. They eventually got married and had kids (ultimately divorced though). Quote
THS6805 Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 Have they chose a coach or they still taking applications? Quote

Gridiron60 Posted March 16 Report Posted March 16 Has this position even been advertised yet? Aren’t teams starting to schedule 7 on 7s? Quote
stu_bean Posted March 16 Report Posted March 16 From my sources there is still no movement on it. However asst coaches are doing their workouts and lifting to get conditioning started and after Padgett resigned, quite a few more kids actually came out for it. Real Sasquatch 1 Quote

Real Sasquatch Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 As far as I know nothing has been decided yet. On a side note, the head basketball coaching position is posted for Tazewell High School. Quote

Fairlawncat Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 Hopefully the Bulldogs can turn it around with Jme Harris returning and get a good coach on the hardwood court. Tazewell should take a look at former Tazewell basketball great and a former friend of mine, Donnie Jordan, who I believe is still down in Wise. He was an assistant at UVA Wise for a bit and he absolutely knows basketball. If the Dogs can get him back home, then the Dogs are landing a slam-dunk on the hardwood. Real Sasquatch 1 Quote
cityofRaven Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 I believe the Richlands Shoney's will reopen before the Tazewell athletic department figures it out. Cousin_Hoyt, bleedblue89, Ryan4VT and 1 other 3 1 Quote

I'm sure they will get a fine replacement and get things going in the right direction. Folks can joke around all they want, but the truth is, there needs to be more development at the younger ages. Tazewell had a few solid ball players this year. In the grand scheme of things, if you are on a winning or losing team in high school, it doesn't really matter as long as you are learning to be a better person, that's what we should all really strive for, a coach that shows compassion for their players and shows them they care and how they should treat other people and be respectful. Wins come with developing talent over a number of years. First thing is to start winning some games (I think they are on the right track for that).....that will get more kids to come out. However, if you don't have the youth leagues to develop talent, you are going to struggle. I would love to see that sports complex come to Tazewell that they talked about a few years back, but I don't think it will ever happen. Fairlawncat and redtiger 2 Quote

Sorry…got off topic. THS6805 1 Quote
