BigWinners Posted December 23, 2025 Report Posted December 23, 2025 The VHSL tweeted out the 1A and 2A list. there is rhe 2A list. Union had eight spots represented on first team. RV had one of the few sophomores with Grant getting it. Wildcat/Chanticleer and Gridiron60 1 1 Quote
Gridiron60 Posted December 23, 2025 Report Posted December 23, 2025 Congratulations to all the players from Region D in Class A & AA that received recognition! SWVA is well represented on those lists. Quote
Fairlawncat Posted December 23, 2025 Report Posted December 23, 2025 Eastside is interesting. Lots of All Staters and unless I counted wrong, None of them (not one) is a senior and all return next year. I thought Eastside was supposed to be a heavy senior team this year. They might have been for all I know, but they return All of their All Staters for 2026. Quote

1inStripes Posted December 23, 2025 Report Posted December 23, 2025 Probably the most kids the Cumberland District has had collectively on the 1st and 2nd All State teams. Only 3 of those kids were SRs. RC's Will Rollins at 1st team LB, RC's Carter Austin at C and TS's Kaleb Mullins at P. Quote
Fairlawncat Posted December 23, 2025 Report Posted December 23, 2025 For data needs and takeaways. I counted 64 total Slots/Positions on the Class 1 1st team and 2nd team Os and Ds, so a Total of 64 All State Slots. 8 of the above (1/8th) of the entire All State Slots are from Eastside which returns All of them next year. WTH! Also, when have you ever seen Riverheads (now back down in Class 1 again) have only 1 Slot out of 64 selections, if I counted correctly Quote
techfan Posted December 25, 2025 Report Posted December 25, 2025 Did anyone ever see a complete all southwest district team? Quote

No one posts the full district or region teams anymore. The schools get the teams and extract their players and posts a fancy image/post on Facebook. Why there isn't an official M7/SWD and Region 2A site, I'm not sure. It would be great for historical purposes as well. If you really want to be frustrated, try finding the all M7/SWD and Region team in baseball in summer...when the kids are getting out of school. Damn near impossible. Mountain Football 1 Quote

The answer is because many leaders are lazy in communication. Whenever there is lazy communication, it's often a result of lack of respect or caring or empathy for others. "If I don't care about you or respect you much, I'm not going to listen or communicate much." Sometimes, poor communication is due to being short staffed, super busy, and stressed out, but in many cases, it's not about being short staffed or stressed out, it's about being lazy and disrespectful. That's often the case with any local, state or federal governing authority or regulating agency. SwvaOG 1 Quote
1inStripes Posted December 30, 2025 Report Posted December 30, 2025 I think the biggest thing is deterioration of newspapers. That's how everyone used to know for sure. The KTN doesn't cover anyone outside of Scott County. The BHC does a great job but these are things that used to show up in the box score section. That isn't populating on websites basically so you typically will just see the all area teams they put together. Maybe each district and region could create a social media account for these things rotating each year which AD handles the announcements. Because no one wants to post about anyone more than their school on their school social media posts to bring out the crazies complaining about X getting a spot over Y. Fairlawncat 1 Quote

My guess is because there would be many people calling foul due to the fact that so many all district nods can be a little suspect. For example, players awarded first team for positions they never played. But this is just my take. Wildcat/Chanticleer and Gridiron60 2 Quote
