Union Lady Bears with a massive wire to wire upset win over the Central Lady Warriors 63-56. Whitt went off for 43. We have got to find some more offense.

Johnson having the flu didn't help at the moment, but if they will get her a little more involved it would probably help on O.  Especially against better defenses, if Witt can't get to the line but still draw defenders.  Putbacks can be another way for Johnson to help on that end though.

Lebanon 82

Castlewood 29

this one could have been way worse. After 1 quarter it was 39-10 at half it was 59-10. They played with a running clock that didn’t even stop for free throws so basically played 1 quarter in the second half. Reece also didn’t play a second in the second half

Seems like it was so lopsided that even the great Calvin Talford wouldn't have been able to pull the W for Castlewood.

Probably not. Pioneers seemed hungry after the Floyd central lost

Rye Cove 47

Holston 45 in boys action.

RC girls won handily over the Cavs but I cannot remember the score.  Good win for the Eagles.  Bailey is a really good coach with some nice pieces at Holston who play really hard.  I think Holston is 7-2 now on the year.  Wins for RC boys on back to back days after beating Rural Retreat by 10 I think it was yesterday.

Update on this one. Reece had 22 points and 10 rebounds in the only half he played

22 points and 10 rebounds in a half is not shabby, but he's not the kind of athlete that could go 20 for 20 for an entire game. Or could he?

Did in football and he went 17/21 against Floyd. Definitely possible

Its Castlewood

People said the same thing after Reeces perfect game against Marion. On pace to score 44 points and 20 rebounds as an individual and your team to be on pace to win 118-20 at halftime is impressive no matter who you’re playing.

17/21 in the previous game vs Floyd Co (who would win region 2D)

At this point denying his talent or being a hater is just silly.

I’d say Lebanon is 10+ points better than them if the played at the end of the season. Hopefully the freshman figure it out and won’t have 14 turnovers

That's the Union team that I said was second in the district behind Abingdon.  Witt limited her questionable shots against Central.  If she would learn that it isn't always smart to take on a 1 on 3 break, Union could go a long way.  Central doesn't  have the athletes to slow her down.  This isn't your typical Central team.  They are not as fast or athletic as they have been the past few years.  For Union to reach their potential, Johnson has to get in a groove and get back to being a scoring threat in the post.  Its hard to get in that groove though when you keep getting rotated out every 3 minutes.

If what I heard is true, Johnson is no longer on the team after an altercation at halftime during their game at Gate City.
