Stelley Posted January 20 Report Posted January 20 Tazewell @ Virginia High Marion @ Lebanon Graham @ Richlands Battle @ GC Central @ Lee Abingdon @ Union Some good ones tonight Quote
Bballinsider Posted January 20 Report Posted January 20 I really did not think Abingdon would be as good as they have been so far this year. Quote

Part of the reason I was understandable when the Pomrenke kid went to tri cities. Would have been interesting to see how good they were if he stayed Quote
MMcMahon26 Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 George Wythe girls sweep the regular season series against another state title contender in Galax with a 57-40 win. The Lady Maroons are have won their last 45 games against district opponents. Their last loss to an MED team was three years ago today at Auburn. Quote
Gridiron60 Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 SWD Lebanon & Graham boys won. Graham & Marion girls won. Other score of interest; Radford boys beat Floyd down the wire. Quote

Boys seems that way for sure. The SWD will be favored in at least 2/4 matchups if not 3/4 in the 2D tourney, although looks like the M72 should be in line to beat Tazwell or VHS or whoever is third in SWD. Girls looks like a clean sweep type year, there are four good teams that could all win the M7 top seed and make a deep deep run. Quote

Richland will probably be the three seed and then either taz or Marion Quote

I still think that any of the top 4 in m7 could beat any of the SWD teams. Just hard to tell because M7 has been cannibalizing themselves this year. Quote
1inStripes Posted January 21 Report Posted January 21 Basketball as a whole is down in SWVA IMO. But it has also made for some extremely competitive games especially in the M7. I think M7 girls are even a little down compared to where they have been but its still ahead of anyone else in SWVA until you get to the MED maybe for girls basketball. Quote

Wise shocks me. I figured they’d be near the top of the district with a clear lead but nope. Guess Boggs and Collins were way more of a factor than people realized. Union is bout the same. Can beat anyone I a given night but can also lose to almost anyone on any night. Battle is the big surprise they’re good. Quote

Collins and Boggs were big players for Wise yes but when you have two players IMO two of the best in the M7 scoring in double figures and no one else really stepping up to score. If it wasn’t Hayes & Horne they wouldn’t be where they are right now. Quote

Richlands played central and only lost by like 5 or so. It was also a pretty off night for both Hayes and Horne Quote

I’d like to see central feed their big man because he’s pretty athletic and long. But other than those 3 I don’t even know if the rest of their players are even averaging a combined 10 ppg. Quote
