If there was any question, they should have went to the scorers table to figure it out. I mean surely the other two would have tried to figure out why Tazewell's coach was going off on them if they thought Tazewell had just won. I just don't buy it. There is no way that none of the refs knew that it was a two point game during the last possession. I guess only him, the scorers, & other refs can explain what really happened 🤷🏻♂️ I was just speculating what could have happened in all the confusion. Either way, definitely a basket before buzzer what happened in the aftermath is a shame for Tazewell. swvavol 1 Quote

You would have thought that in all of that mess, one of the refs would have had enough sense to go to the scorers table and try to figure out what was going on. Gridiron60 and Real Sasquatch 2 Quote
Real Sasquatch Posted February 5 Report Posted February 5 Heard the head of the officials said....sorry, we messed up....thats the end of it...nothing they can do.... Quote
Weatherman Posted February 6 Report Posted February 6 This is starting to come together to make sense. The white haired official seemed to have a foul on Richlands on the made basket, signaling the basket was good, and that's probably why the clock operator put up the 2 points on the scoreboard. As he started towards the scorer's table to report the foul, the official under the basket stopped him to ask something, so he never made it to the table to report the foul. The trail official (not in the picture as the basket is scored) is generally the sole official to determine if a basket it good or not on baskets at the buzzer. They all huddled and discussed it and the head official seemed to run to the scorer's table signaling the the basket counted, and waving that the game was over. The only way he could have said that (game over) was to be thinking that the score was tied when the basket was made and the basket gave Tazewell a 2-point win and no FT was needed. Very unfortunate for Tazewell, as the basket was good and they should have been shooting 1 FT for a chance to win. The haste to make a decision led to the wrong decision being made. Just my two cents. Observer and Gridiron60 2 Quote
