Wise County seems so messed up right now.it seems like every  week something comes up. Quote

I don’t begrudge giving his coaching stipend to his family but continuing to pay the salary of a man who hasn’t been at work since November is crazy. Anyone in any other employment would be fired for not showing up for 3 months regardless of everything else. Quote

I realize everyone deserves his or her day in court but geez, if not fired at least unpaid leave. Quote
Fairlawncat Posted February 16 Report Posted February 16 Possible PTO saved up after years of employment? Not uncommon for a local, state, or fed gov employee to have 90, 120, even 150 days saved up after years of work. Don't know if it's the case here. VHSLhelper 1 Quote

1inStripes Posted February 16 Report Posted February 16 I believe all of his money is going into an escrow account for now though until everything is settled with law enforcement since he was first suspended. Â In the end I assume the county school system recoups everything due to the charges though. Quote

Normally, one requests leave to use that much PTO, calls in , etc. If he rarely took a day off, he probably did have several months of PTO. If Wise County folks don’t have an issue with it, I guess no one outside of Wise should. Still kind of wild though. Quote

A lot of crusaders around BSG seem to shout that it’s something nefarious but it’s a union job with state regulations, they can’t just fire him without cause until an investigation has been completed. Anyone thinking they’re trying to cover anything up in this situation is just grasping at straws, they’re gonna be as transparent as humanly possible with all the attention surrounding everything. Quote

I never thought they were doing anything nefarious by paying him. I just found it odd that they were when RichRich shared it. Quote

If it is PTO that he's getting paid for, that means that at many times over many years when he was able to be off or have vacation, he didn't take it. Lots of people do that. They aren't "stealing it." Its theirs. I had 13 weeks of vacation saved up at the Arsenal about 4 years ago and my boss approached me and asked why I had 13 weeks. The approach was if "I stole it" or "Did a Magic Trick" to get to 13 weeks. He knew as do most people how you get that much time saved up. It means you did not take that time for many years. All of those years when I was only take 1 or 2 weeks of vacation, his as$ wasn't beating down the door at the time asking me "why aren't you taking vacation." BigWinners 1 Quote

Fairlawncat Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 Crazy arse County you all got down there. Ain't no two ways about it. Let me guess, he's due for a bonus in 2 weeks? Good Lawd! Quote
Union_Fan Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 I'm not surprised at all. I talked about this months ago. If people only knew what goes on in Wise Co schools behind the scenes. Quote
swvavol Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 You would think that if an employee hadn't shown up for work and there was no contact to let the employer know why, it wouldn't take three months to fire them.  Quote
