Thompkins did an excellent job of denying him the basketball. Hayes and Horne hit some big shots to keep their lead going into the last few minutes of the game. Not having Jessee rebound for Lebanon really hurt them once he went out of the game. Jessee could be one heck of a big man. He has the strength and the athleticism to make some pretty good moves down low, a touch on the shorter size but still plays like he’s a couple inches taller than he is. I’d like to seem him put a little more time in for basketball because I dont even know if the football team can even third in the district this coming season. He’s shown flashes of the potential that he has like in the first quarter against Graham and the first half against central but from what I’ve heard he never really works at it, and of course he will be football minded every other month of the year because he’ll go play college football somewhere but I’d still like to know how good he could be at basketball before he graduates. BigWinners Posted February 25 Report Posted February 25 Depth is a real issue. Six girls were in the box score after three. Tough to win games during these quick windows against tougher teams with no depth, hopefully the girls can keep this pace. RV was up handily on Lebanon too, I assume they’ll cruise too. Quote

Depth is definitely an issue but Graham has a couple JV players who could be contributors next season for sure and with zero starters that are seniors, Graham could have another great season next year. Their biggest asset is Coach Baker. He has a way of getting the most out of his players. Union could definitely give them a great game & even win. Both have to focus on winning tomorrow night first. Fairlawncat Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 Final. Nelson County advances to the state tournament. Class 2, Region C semis, Nelson County 70, Liberty 46. Floyd vs Grenade.....Gretna....underway in the other semi game. If Floyd wins, 2C will bring the same 2 teams as last year to the state tournament. Quote

Completely unheard of in a HS basketball game. With a HS game being so short, one person is basically scoring nearly every time he comes down the floor on every possession for a full half. Thats incredible if he dropped 61 in a half. Just plain stupid good. Quote

Absolute takeover from start to finish. From deep, attacking the rim, in transition it didn’t matter. When PH needed a bucket, Cade delivered. That’s one of those performances you don’t just see, you remember. Big time win for PH as they roll 90-33, and a historic night for Cade Caywood. SWVA hoopers keep showing out. Fairlawncat 1 Quote

I’m going to be 100% honest. I don’t see union being within 15 points of Graham. If fix plays how he did the last two games against Lebanon it will be way more than that. If he’s having an off night, which is very possible it could be closer. And if Hayes and Horne played half as well as they did last night central will be playing Graham in the title game, good defense or not, there’s not much else Lebanon could have done to stop them Gridiron60 and Bball_Fan 2 Quote

Over 60 points for a full game? Sure. That happens. 61 in a half, or slightly under one full half? Somebody needs to check the Virginia record books. Thats approaching "up there" status for a half.
