He just hung around half court waiting to get a fast break opportunity and pad his stats. I'm not sure that should be considered classy. The travesty in all of this is that Council made the regional. Evidently that was a brilliant choice by the Coach and player because if it's 5 on 4, the team on offense should be scoring. So, capitalize on the 5 on 4s and you don't have one guy waiting at half court every play. Quote
1inStripes Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 Brilliance doesn't come into play when it's as big of a mismatch as it was. PH is a state favorite. Council unfortunately for their program wasn't going to be able to put up a challenge. PH took advantage to chase records. swvafbrespect 1 Quote

Yeah looking at it that seems to be true and doing it at the expense of a school thats playing its last ever basketball game, ehh rubs me the wrong way. A storied program, smallest in public state ball, is closing up shop and their goodbye is getting embarrassed like that. Unchained 1 Quote

If you’ve watched PH this season normally they always have someone that is leaking back, normally it’s not caywood but Stewart. It’s not PH’s fault that they had to play council. The first 10 points caywood got were because council couldn’t even inbound the ball Quote
Jags52 Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 Honestly I am glad the those schools are consolidating because the way 1D run their regional tournament in every sport but football is a joke. The fact the the Black Diamon get 3 bid is every sport is laughable. In most cases they they get teams in with sub .250 records! Meanwhile you have teams that earned a home playoff game by finishing second in their district having to go on the road. That is crazy to me. I know its a dumb thing to get fired up about because it is the last year of this but still I feel like it needed to be said. Because of this you have results like you did last night. Council has no business being on the same floor as PH and that is the result you get. They let there best player cherry pick all night and he was able to score a ton of point. I read in the paper that one kid had 22 assist and that is a record and good for him. You might want to put an asterisk on those though. It was clear they where trying to break records last night they said as much in the paper. I do think it is sad that the you had a match up in the regional tournament that allowed this to happen. PH only scored 20 points in the second half. When caywoods brother dropped 50 against Honaker, who was winless, nobody had a problem with it. Sure if he plays the whole game and does that then yea I can see the problem with it. But it’s not like every point came off cherry picking. Councils first 5-6 possessions they couldn’t even get the ball in/ catch it. And PH kept feeding him down low with 2 sometimes 3 guarding him. I’d be shocked if it was any more than a third of his points came off cherry picking Quote

Since Graham is the only SWD team left in regional playoffs, I hope they show up ready to play and come away with the win. I think both games could be a toss up and close if everyone is on their A game. Quote

I didn't say he was cherry picking just that he didn't cross half court. From what I was told Council did struggle to get it across early on, but then when they did it wasn't just a leak out though, which PH does a lot of. I was just saying it wasn't brilliant coaching as mentioned above to allow it to be 5 on 4. It was just a huge mismatch and PH took advantage of it to create a record setting night. Quote

Because he’ll I’d be pretty confident in saying that if caywood 1v5’d council they still would have won. They should’ve only let Grundy have any chances in the postseason instead of taking away an extra spot from the Cumberland and hogo for a pretty long time now. Quote
1inStripes Posted February 26 Report Posted February 26 I agree. PH, Eastside and Grundy have seemed to be ahead of the rest of the 1D pack in bball. Kind of a jumbled up group after that until you got to the rest of the BDD. Quote
