Real Sasquatch Posted March 4 Report Posted March 4 Graham with a big steal and layup 56 -54, G-men lead with 18.6 seconds left. Floyd fouled on the other end and sinks both. Quote

Fairlawncat Posted March 4 Report Posted March 4 I tried to tell yall Reg C would win in both boys games tonight but yall wouldn't listen. You chose smartly by not listening. Congrats Reg D Real Sasquatch and Gridiron60 1 1 Quote

I expected GW & Galax girls to win handily and Fort Chiswell. Some of the games were so close but region D certainly put on a show. Region D, Class AA will be represented in Richmond. That’s pretty awesome! Congratulations to all the winning teams tonight! The biggest question, can Graham figure out how to stop Hayes & Horne? Quote

Palmer will have nightmares of the big from Floyd, who looked like he’d probably give up about 3 inches to the guys from Nelson Quote

Just have to let him get his 30 but have to limit Tompkins on offensive putbacks Gridiron60 and Real Sasquatch 2 Quote
Real Sasquatch Posted March 4 Report Posted March 4 In the State semis, does the ref crew have to be from a different region? Quote

Bcats Posted March 4 Report Posted March 4 Had to work last night so I stayed off this thread so I wouldn't know any of the outcomes, I just now finished watching all 5 games, 3 of the m7 girls and Wise and Graham game. Ridgeview game is the game of the year so far, around 2nd quarter it was standing room only. I said earlier that if the game was played on paper Floyd and Nelson should win, but I know that isn't how it works that why I went with the Gmen. Floyd and Nelson both were deeper and bigger roster wise but you can't measure the heart of a team. No disrespect to what's left out there but I think Ridgeview/Union Graham/Wise is the real state championship game. I seen one of the teams left on the boys side Thomas Jefferson got beat handily by a down John Marshall team. Congrats to all of the SWVA winners, I'm tired I'm going to bed CriticalNoise 1 Quote

Elder statesman Posted March 4 Report Posted March 4 Abingdon game was all Trivette, she almost outscored Western Albemarle by herself. At one stage of the game, she was being triple teamed whenever she tried to make a move to the bucket. She made numerous dump offs to open players on the block, but they struggled to convert the easy basket. Finally in the 4th quarter, those shots started falling for her teammates and were the deciding factor in the end. The Falcons are fortunate in the 3A bracket for the semifinals. Not sure why 3A is the only class to do a cross bracket and face Region A/B but that keeps them away from Spotswood (preseason favorite) until the finals if they can get by Hopewell Friday night. Historically, Regions C & D have dominated girls' basketball in 1A, 2A, and 3A. I was told that the VHSL changed that in 2A girls because it was always eliminating regions A&B before the finals every year with Wise Central, Ridgeview, and Gate City consistently meeting the championship game.
