Only requirement for state level games in hoops (Final 8) for Classes 1 and 2 are a minimum of 1300 seats for a Single game at that gym on that day. If its a double header, the minimum requirement is 2000 seats. For example, if Wise girls would have been the one seed and would have kept winning and would have been the host along with its boys in the semis and both teams played in the same day at the same place, then that place would be required to seat 2000. Otherwise and applicable to most situations, 1300 minimum for a single game and that 1300 can absolutely be the home teams floor.

Rematches for the West. RV/Union, who knows. RV was up damn near 20 in the last meeting and the Bears clawed back, hopefully the Pack won’t shoot quite as well  this time.

Im not sure Union can afford to go the entire game in it, as well as it did work. Union has a very short bench and that would be so taxing on Witt and the others on offense.  It may be like last meeting, turn it on as needed. 
 

I expect a dandy. Wish it was in BSG but Union likes the floor at Wise. Whoever wins, I’ll be rooting to bring home another M7 GBB title but damn let us have one, you guys got yours lol.

Lots of good games. Im excited about the Fort vs Patrick Henry. That will be lots of fun. Two great players battling it out with very good supporting casts.

Refs will dictate the Graham/Central game.   The last game, three major contributors fouled out for Graham and I think two others had four fouls.   If it’s called consistently on both ends, I think Graham comes out on top.

If it’s at Central , that’s pretty hostile territory for officiating crew & visiting team. That might influence how the calls go. Hopefully, it’s fair and the GMen win! 😂

George Wythe girls , Ridgeview girls, & Graham boys all lost regional championships to the teams they’re playing tonight for the opportunity to play in Richmond. Do any of these three teams have a chance to pull the upset over the region champions? Keys to pull a win?

I would think GW girls would still be favored.  Galax is good but GW won the previous meetings and have the experience as defending state champs.

Really all three games involve teams who have losses to the team they beat in the regional title game.

All three can win, well I dunno about 1A but in 2A, both games are coin flips. This is fifth meeting between Union and RV and it’s split 2-2.

Wise Central is the underdog against Graham, Graham has been the best team in SWVA all season long, Wise Central is the hottest team in SWVA right now

Who's going to Richmond? For all the boring practices, for all the scrimmages and games tonight makes it worth it. Graham basketball is trying to taste some of the success of the football team, Wise Central boys basketball is trying to taste some of the success of the girls team. I know it's not exactly the same team but Graham is battle tested going on the road into a hostile environment at gate city 2 season ago in regions coming out victorious, then going to Nelson in state, going to Floyd last year and this year with the same results, overcoming Va High in region championship last year, nothing phases them. Wise Central will have the best player on the court tonight, Wise is the hottest team right now, but it will be the GMEN going to Richmond.

Ridgeview vs Union is hard to predict, much like the boys Union will have the best player, Ridgeview is the overall better team

I hope Abingdon wins but I have no feel for the game because I know nothing about the team they're playing

I selfishly want Graham to win it all for the mere fact they had to play John Marshall last year  (I think someone on another post  dubbed JM  “The cheaters”).

They’re a  AAA problem now 😂. Honestly, wish there was a AAA capable of beating Petersburg. Ty White is a great recruiter but Todd Baker is a great coach. Anyone can win with the athletes White recruits. Baker can get the best out of his players and be competitive year in and year out without benefit of nationwide recruiting efforts.

I said on here about 2 months or so ago that Baker won't get it every year but he should be coach of the year every year in SWVA. Some of us are starting to brush it off because it's starting to be the norm Graham keeps winning but for Graham to go into Floyd County area with a big size disadvantage, a depth disadvantage, and the Floyd student section was heckling Graham players all night, down 6 with little over a minute to go to come out with the win wasn't a easy thing. I just sit back in awe, I said it before Baker is playing chess while the rest is playing checkers, it's not always going to be pretty, it's not always going to be ideal scenario but Baker most times than not will find a way to win. Another thing i like about Baker after the region championship he stayed along with several other players and watched Wise celebrate, let Wise get all the hugs and pictures they want with their fans, he patiently waited and then he tooked some pictures with some of the Wise players and shook hands with some of the Wise fans. He's a class act

Been saying same thing for years about Baker. One of the better coaches at Any level in the state of Virginia. Todd was a heck of player in his own right at Bluefield High and Bluefield State. He could flat out play. 

People talk about Grahams athletes in basketball. Thats great, but I dont know if Graham has had a basketball player truly over 6 foot 4 since the year of 1914. I've never seen them with height over the years. That means, you have to get kids to buy into absolute solid defense, and they do that. That is coaching.
