Exception would be the teams that played the schools that became southern gap, they may have a game or two different. KW23 1 Quote

I’d say Southern Gap will fill that spot after next season. Real Sasquatch 1 Quote

S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE Posted March 26 Report Posted March 26 So how will that factor in 2D playoff race? Potentially out-point a few other schools in the standings, but not play their respective district games? If it's the same as grundy had scheduled then they should be at least 5 wins? Don't think they'll like the adjustment to the level of play in 2D. Could be wrong and I hope so. Another tough team to mix it up would be great. Quote
techfan Posted March 26 Report Posted March 26 I think I heard that Southern Gap would play Grundy's schedule and picking up Eastside and Castlewood to fill the holes left by Twin Valley and Hurley VHSLhelper 1 Quote

I know Graham will play in the parking lot, if they have to...but a team with the history of Graham's football program deserves their own venue and a nice one at that. Not to mention, soccer, track and band. Gridiron60 and JDHoss 2 Quote

1inStripes Posted March 30 Report Posted March 30 The only thing that is curious to me about that though, is what were the rates like 30 years ago for each school that used that field? Does the town see a profit off of leasing to HSs and colleges over what it costs for maintenance, power, and utilities? If so, how much? Quote
Bluefield researcher Posted March 30 Report Posted March 30 The field was free about 30 years ago. Then they started requiring rent when Bluefield's population started decreasing. They have never made a profit as far as I know. They actually tried to sell it to Mercer County Schools but after looking at the numbers Mercer County Schools declined. Then Bluefield offered to give it to them and they still declined. Keeping up a stadium is very expensive. Quote

They have to try and make the funds to keep replacing the field if they wont go back to grass and the costs of utilities. I would have found it an issue if they were charging a great enough fee though to profit from schools using it though. Quote

Do they pay out the wazoo? Are they treated well by the landlords? Do they split the concessions? Do they get the same deal as the other folks that play there? Do they allow playoff opponents to practice there the day before a big game? Are there any outside organizations that influence where they play? Just curious.... Quote
