Doubtful it happened that quick. The job has to post for 2 weeks before a candidate can be hired.

Apparently that is the standard procedure, but not at Central. When Justin Boggs was booted for Damron. The job posting was listed for maybe a day or two, then he was announced within a few days if my memory serves me correctly.

Under normal and legal circumstances, that would be true, but this is Wise Co.

I have no idea if he's really getting the job, but they have a long history of picking the candidate before the job is even available, let alone actually posted.

And the same guy Wise ran off 24 years ago for being "mean" to the kids.

The kids were that soft 24 years ago, geez. He definitely won’t last this go around if he’s the guy they hire. Old school coaching is what some kids need these days.

Maybe he's chilled a bit since 2002. Lol

Just think, some of those kids that played then might have kids playing now. There's an interesting dynamic to think about.

Saunders is definitely the coach wise needs.these kids need to toughen up and he could do it as long as the parents don't complain about everything he does.i can honestly say they would be more disciplined and play to 100%every game woth saunders at the helm

Let's be really honest with ourselves here for a minute. Nick Saban could come coach at Central and those parents would run him off

Unfortunately you are probably right.but these parents need to stop babying their kids anytime a coach trys to coach the kids they way they need to be coached sometimes.

Unless the parents are Alabama fans

You all know as well as I do the decision was made before they screwed Josh over. It’s the way Wise operates.

Does anyone know what led to this decision of not renewing his contract?

Wasn't he fired originally for slapping a parent when he was at Kelly. If true, that makes him the most respected coach in JJ Kelly history.

I mean in his defense, some bad sports’ parents need a good slapping.

He beat Phil and got gone:). If I recall he was screaming at a softball player (coached softball too)

He was verbally rough to the players and when some parents confronted him, he let them have it too. So they ran to the school board and got him removed.

I'm not certain of anything physical, but those parents would have deserved it.

Imagine how it's gonna be now with even softer kids and parents.

Fortunately, I'm glad I don't have to. Lol

It will be interesting to see how it turns out though.

I agree totally with the comments about being soft.   Parents today don't want "little Johnny" to be coached hard.  This is part of the problem with our country today.  We don't want people (teachers and coaches) to hold kids accountable.  Kids are accustomed to instant gratification.  I could go on and on.  No point in beating a dead horse.

The guy has a Saban approach. Fundamentals. If you’re clowning around, he will get onto your butt.

Call me old fashioned but I like those no nonsense old school type coaches who stress fundamentals, hard work, and respect.

We now have one at Union. He's off to a solid start. The kids know exactly what's expected of them. There's no questioning how clearly he is communicating.
