Weatherman Posted May 23 Report Posted May 23 What's everybody got for next week's tournaments? Softball - I would think Central and Lee would be the favorites to make the region finals. The semi-final match-ups could go either though if it's Battle-Central and Lebanon-Lee, but I favor Central and Lee. Baseball - I'm gonna predict Battle and Union in the finals. I think the Union-Lebanon match-up could be a classic, but I favor the Bears. Lebanon definitely has a the tougher road to a Region D title in both softball and baseball, but they do have that championship pedigree in both sports that could carry them to the top. Quote

Not trying to count the chickens before they hatch but each quarterfinal has a heavy favorite. But for the semifinals I’m going to predict Foy has a day on the mound. Foy has beat battle before so it’s a possibility, not likely, but possible. Would have to be a 1-0 ballgame As for the other semi this will be the third straight year the Bears matchup with the Pioneers. With the Pioneers winning in walkoff fashion in ‘24 with a 1-0 victory and in ‘25 when Lebanon scored thrice in the bottom of the 6th to win 4-3. But this year I expect Union to finally punch their ticket to the state tournament, would not be totally surprised if Lebanon somehow pulled some more magic this year though. Quote

Ryan4VT Posted May 29 Report Posted May 29 What a softball game between Richards and Battle. Richlands up 4-3 with 2 outs in the top of the 7th. Battle gets 3 runs to go up 6-4. Richlands ties it up with 2 outs in the bottom. Then in the bottom of the 7th, Richlands walks it off to advance. So many momentum swings at the end. tornado99 and Gridiron60 2 Quote

So much for my prediction about Union baseball. Central almost beat Lebanon once again in regional play, just can't seem to get over that hump. Battle wins easily and Lee pulls off the upset at Virginia High. Richlands must be decent and peaking at the right time. How did they fare against Lebanon this season? Quote

Both will have to also go through King William and Poquoson who are also down comparatively to seasons prior but still no easy task considering battle and Lebanon are also down more than usual Quote
