UnionGuy2017 Posted August 22 Report Posted August 22 I didn’t realize Gate City lost as many starters on the line as they did. I could see that limiting them later on but for this one Reed, Houseright and Jenkins should take control early. Quote
Gridiron60 Posted August 22 Report Posted August 22 Worse than the VH/Richlands game for the Blue Tornado. Quote
GC_Quincy Posted August 22 Report Posted August 22 The line will be our biggest question and with no competition as far as scrimmages just adds to the worry. Thursday night will be the first time they've lined up and hit someone that's not on their own team so it'll be interesting to see how it goes. We have some younger kids that I'm pretty high on though. Quote

Real Sasquatch Posted August 22 Report Posted August 22 Gate City will be able to name the score. Quote

I’ve been watching them since the 80s and they have always been a run heavy program, but with the talent they have at receiver I hope the ball is put in the air a little more. Here is my opinion: QB: Reed has a pretty good arm and is very athletic. Should be a good year for him. Running Back: Not sure of the kid’s name, but I watched him at the blue/white and he is small, but quick. He is a solid player. Receivers: Houseright: A good high school player Jenkins: One word. Unbelievable. Tall, fast, strong with great hands. Will be playing on Saturdays. OL: #55 - Big kid. Looks strong with good blocking skills There Are a couple more linemen that will be big contributors this year. Defensively they have some studs. Parsons: Hard nosed and goes 100% every play. McDonald: Tough kid and can hit like a truck. Kegley: Big strong kid. Good ball awareness. Hopefully the ball is given to some of the younger ones and it ain’t daddy ball. GC has a real chance on competing for district honors this year GC_Quincy 1 Quote

S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE Posted August 23 Report Posted August 23 Never know, would either be an upset if they win? Gc by 3 scores Quote
JDHoss Posted August 23 Report Posted August 23 GC....who's GC? (a comment from the lady who used to do the on-air scores between songs for WAXM back before they had an actual scoreboard show. She apparently wasn't from the area and didn't know the abbreviations for the schools that the person who was working the phone and writing the score down to give to her. She even called Rye Cove, Rye County) Anyway... GC 44 Richlands 13 Quote
Tru Blue72 Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 From a Blue Tornado fan in reality, GC by a ton in this one. With Capshaw out I doubt if the Blues even get close to scoring. Sad times at RHS. The old saying what goes around comes around, politics and administration have destroyed football in Tornado Alley. I feel bad for the players and the fans, but IMO this is going to be a long season for the Blues. Wildcat/Chanticleer 1 Quote
Beaverdad16 Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 Could very well be a winless season for the Blues, which just seems crazy given their history. GC by as much as they feel like. Quote
SXSW Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 Gate City has wrinkles to work out, as stated above by Qunicy, GC is very young still and the future is bright. GC will win. Richlands is in a bad place right now. I look for 42-0 type of game and a running clock. Quote
1inStripes Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 Who did GC scrimmage or benefit with this past week? Quote

They had a scrimmage with Tennessee High two weeks ago that was stormed out as they were taking the field. They haven't hit another team in anger since last years playoffs. Quote
Union_Fan Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 Whatever GC lost on the line and backfield can't compare to the turmoil in Richlands. Having a game under their belt and GC having nothing, it might be a little sloppy for the Devils to start, but they get it going and come out with a win. Quote

SXSW Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 GC's passing game is going to be very good, It will be enough to loosen the defense and let the running game work itself out. Quote
BigWinners Posted August 24 Report Posted August 24 If this is even remotely close, GC is nowhere near what I think they could be this year. I expect GC to roll into next week with revenge on their mind against hated DB (thats next week right?) Quote

This decision is definitely not in the best interest of these kids or community. Quote
