BigWinners Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 I think you guys truly have no idea how good RV is. They would have beat either team last night by 21+ with how they played. Quote

Gridiron60 Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 Bluefield unless they just revert back to the 2nd half type team that played against Graham. Quote
Beaverdad16 Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 Honestly don’t know much about Ridgeview. I know they always seem to have a solid program and make the playoffs. I like our chances in every game if we can keep level headed and clean up the substitution penalties that always seem to happen. 44-20 Beavers Quote
onewarrior2 Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 Man, I wish I didn’t have to go to Battle this week. This is going to be one hell of a football game. Grant and Hill are going to be hard to stop for anyone, I don’t care who it is. Pack squeaks by 21-17 Quote

This RV defense is fast and stout. Quote

BBHoops_18 Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 Ridgeview always has a great program and everyone seems to be hyping them a lot this year but I just have a hard time seeing Bluefield lose Quote
rdh2443 Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 This is the game we have had marked since the schedule came out for RV. This is the first time in a while we have had a strong test leading into our heavy back end of the season when we play against Union, GC, Abingdon, and the KY team we play where we are already 21 points down just playing in KY. Last time we played Bluefield mid season was when Cannon Hill and Brandon Beavers played and Bluefield destroyed us in Bluefield, but RV still won M7 that year. RV historically has to get over some mental negatives against teams from WV and Union. However, this group of RV players seems to be wired differently and I feel great about going into this game. RV can definitely win if they play like the team we know they are and not defeated mentally before the game gets played! RV wins 21-20. I really hope for cool heads during this game as well for both teams. Quote
S10SQUAREBODY4LIFE Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 I'll be surprised if nobody gets tossed. Lots of personal fouls, tough match up either way. Comes down to last possession i believe. 28-27 kinda score. rdh2443 1 Quote

The talent is there. Great program, but they haven't taken that step like a Union or Graham or Richlands (Richlands when Union and RV opened) and advanced to the state semi's. I recall RV and Bluefield playing 2 times before and RV had some solid teams, but RV came up short Again, in a Big Game. If RV beats Bluefield, it's the kind of win that the Wolfpack needs to take that step to elite type program. The talent is there at RV with great players, but they need that one key "get over the hump" type of win. Bluefield 41, RV 20. The Beavers outplayed Graham and kind of outplayed Princeton. They aren't losing again in 2026. The danger here is when I pick a team to lose by 21 points. Bad history with this. Bluefield better be careful. rdh2443 and tornado99 2 Quote
tornado99 Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 I see this a game with two very talented teams. I would even argue that Ridgeview might have more talent position by position as far as the average player. The difference, as always, is Bluefield has way more upside due to speed. If each play is an individual battle, I see Ridgeview winning just as many or more of them resulting in big gains or first downs. With the Beavers, those wins are more lethal in that they likely result in touchdowns from the big plays. I would love to see the Wolfpack pick up a signature win and get over the hump. I think they can win. If the Beavers and Wolfpack play to their ability, Bluefield wins by 10-14. rdh2443 1 Quote
Wolf1207 Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 It is true that RV hasn't had that signature win in a few years. Especially since Covid. But I agree that this team is wired differently. Last year, Union was far and away the best team in the region and the pack did not back down either time. They lost to the better team each game, but I believe that they had chances to beat them both times they played last year. The win over a good GC team last year certainly helped. For this game, the pressure may be on Bluefield. They lose here and they are 1-3. I don't know WV playoff structure, but I'm assuming that means a lot of travel. Plus another loss could send a season that has the highest expectations around it I've seen on this board into a tail spin. If RV loses it depends on the type of loss. If it's like last year in the Union games, that's fine. You can build on those. If it's like the last time Union came to the ridge and they meltdown. That could be a problem. Speaking if speed, I don't know what the Beavers have but I'm assming it's a lot. Grant fro RV is as exciting a player as I have seen in a few years. Every time he touches the ball you feel like a score is coming. rdh2443 1 Quote

buzzsaw Posted September 12 Report Posted September 12 It should be a competitive game, the atmosphere will be big for rv. I’ll say this, against Princeton, Bluefield and Princeton players were each assisting each other up and being respectful, there was good sportsmanship in last night’s game too. Bluefield plays better when they stay composed and show sportsmanship, that will make a difference. What are the strengths of this rv team on either side of the ball? What’s there style of offense, what do they excel at? What do they struggle with? Bluefield seems balanced on O, people talk about their passing game and rightly so, but they have a good running game too. Their disadvantage on O seems to be getting the play in and being set, and clock management. They sometimes drop passes, but some of that I honestly think is that the qb throws a really hard pass on the shorter to intermediate passes. on D Bluefield struggles some in the secondary, but I tend to think it isn’t player vs player but more being out of position or the other teams taking advantage of coverage. They sometimes don’t tackle well downfield. rv’s stadium looks really good, it looks like a fun place for a game. Is this game going be streamed anywhere? Quote

I look forward to seeing your questions answered myself about Ridgeview. This week will tell a lot. Their campus is stunning, but the track around the field puts the stands a little farther away than I care for. At least they're elevated. Helps a lot. Should be on NFHS. Quote

So far RV has been very well balanced, offensively, and defensively and for the most part special teams. However, when it comes to big games, such as playing teams in West Virginia or union there seems to be a negative mental aspect to it. I believe this year’s team is a bit different and built stronger mentally especially since having to fight back so hard last year and making it to the region D championship. For us as RV fans, this is the game we have been waiting to see our boys play. I still think it’s gonna be a close one score game if RV wins, but if The Beavers win it could be 10+ points. I know RV has the team to win, but they have to play lights out and mistake have to be very limited if any at all! GO PACK!! Quote

Real Sasquatch Posted September 13 Author Report Posted September 13 Willis Wilson, Jeremiah Jones, Pax Calhoun, Jaleel Jones, Jamarius Smith, Tylee Simon, Jurrien Tabb are just a few that come to mind with blazing speed for Bluefield. Union has good team speed, but Bluefield is on another level as far as team speed goes. Bluefield's problem in that first game with Graham was lack of discipline on defense. Union came in better prepared for Graham and better coached then Bluefield. As far as talent - Bluefield is more talented then both Graham and Union. No disrespect to either team. cityofRaven 1 Quote
