Lance Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 These are higher quality Windows Media files...I have tried to get the best quality with the smallest file size. *Right Click and "Save Target As" to download these to your computer. http://www.mindbinge.com/Clips/VaHighCalledBack1.WMV -if you slow this one down, you will see #29 from Va High hit his own man in the back...Bronson Brown is locked up in a clean block. Ball was spotted at the 1 yard line before it was called back btw so in reality this was not a TD or sure points on the board. http://www.mindbinge.com/Clips/VaHighCalledBack2.WMV -looks like a clean block to me, then the Va High kid turns as the ball goes by and takes a legit clean hit face to face. **You can also see the field condition pretty well in these. ***I will have the entire game up for download by tomorrow...trying to get the file size down a little more...right now it's (4) 45+ meg clips. I also cut the OT plays in to one file if anyone wants to just see the OT period. (3 plays including the missed PAT) Quote
BigD4VT Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 What was the call on the first one? I saw the VHS player hit his teammate in the back...are they saying Grundy hit him? Or was it right before that when the Grundy player appeared to block #29 in the back before falling down? I didn't see any penalties on the second video. Quote
Lance Posted November 22, 2004 Author Report Posted November 22, 2004 The call was against Bronson...I don't think the ref had the angle to see the Va High (#29) kid hit his own man...gotta remember it was very muddy and it didn't take much to send someone flying. Also, the Grundy kid (#54 I think) Matt Lee didn't hit #29 in the back, he clearly falls down...no contact. Quote
Lance Posted November 22, 2004 Author Report Posted November 22, 2004 #52 is Breck...his guy takes a bad angle and is out of the play as soon as Marcum gets the corner. Matt Lee is the guy (#54) you were asking about that is close to #29 before he hits his own man. Bronson is #31 and is blocking the guy that #29 hits...he was the one they called the penalty on #31...he is the receiver up in the slot thats just out of the camera shot until Marcum goes running by. Quote
BigD4VT Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Well in that case there is no doubt about it. It was a horrible call. Quote
Lance Posted November 22, 2004 Author Report Posted November 22, 2004 Another point, the ref closest to the play doesn't throw the flag...if you look at the video, he is looking right at everything as it happens and throws no flag...the ref 10 yards up the field makes the call. Quote
BigD4VT Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 I noticed that. My first thought was he's out of position to make that call. Quote
Lance Posted November 22, 2004 Author Report Posted November 22, 2004 there is also another ref that is in the middle of the field that doesn't throw a flag and is right in the middle of everything...so look to the back side ref and the ref in the middle of the field...both within 5 yards...no flags...the guy 10-15 yards up field throws it. Quote
BigD4VT Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Is the coaching staff sending tape to the VHSL? I think they should Quote
Lance Posted November 22, 2004 Author Report Posted November 22, 2004 Wait until you see the whole game...lol. I dunno if they are sending it or what...or what the coaches films show...maybe there is more to it than what I caught on film? But from what I have, you can see why Grundy fans would be upset at losing this game in OT based on just these two plays...and yes Va High did keep them out of the endzone on other plays...grundy threw an INT and fumbled a snap on 4th down inside the 5 yard line...that was two of the red zone trips...I am not saying Va High didn't stop Grundy a few times in the Red Zone...and yes obviously if Grundy had scored they would have won in regulation...my problem is specifically with these two plays...and I think they cost Grundy the game...I think they are horrible calls and thats why I have said all I have said. Then to top it off, you have to come on here and other sites and hear these guys talk about how great they are. So I give you the film to make your own decisions about what the argument is really all about. Obviously, Va High is not going to say "yeah you guys got screwed" what do you expect? lmfao. Quote
GMan Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 Video #1: No penalty there...very bad call. Video #2: Didn't see any penalty. Quote
89Tornado Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 I agree with the G-Man, BigD, and you Lance. I didn't see any penalties on either play....... Quote
Lance Posted November 22, 2004 Author Report Posted November 22, 2004 http://www.mindbinge.com/Clips/VaHighOT.WMV here is the complete OT series... (about 8 meg) Va High scores on the first play right up the middle...misses the extra point. Grundy gets the ball, Marcum goes right on a toss - gets no blocking - reverses direction and tried to cut the corner...he's done these kinds of amazing runs all year long scoring TD after TD...this time he has one guy to beat and can't get the corner...great effort, just could not get the corner. The Va High kid gets his hands on him, the ball slips out...Va High recovers...game over. It looks on the film like he hits the ground then the ball comes out...but if you watch the tape in slow motion you can see the ball does come out before he is down...this was a good call in this case. Sorry you can't really see it on this WMV clip. This was a very tuff loss for Grundy. Quote
sandman Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 What? There's no fight? No bench clearing brawl? What a ripoff! Quote
bluefieldRocks Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 By the look of that, it was a very muddy game Quote
Bluefield_Rules Posted November 22, 2004 Report Posted November 22, 2004 It would appear Lance is vindicated. It's certainly a shame to see officials blow two key calls in such an important game. [ QUOTE ] Another point, the ref closest to the play doesn't throw the flag...if you look at the video, he is looking right at everything as it happens and throws no flag...the ref 10 yards up the field makes the call. [/ QUOTE ] Hey, you should have been at Bluefield on Saturday. A couple of holding calls were made on Bluefield by the official on the opposite side of the field when the official right in front of the play threw nothing. The guy on the other side must have had like Superman type vision to see from one side to the other plus through various players. I believe his talents could be better used helping police or someone catch criminals...lol Quote
wavefan64 Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Where is all that noise coming from the Tri-Cities now? I can hear it now "well, we got the win, that's all that counts." You have proven our points once again Lance. Quote
Blues_56 Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 1st play-Bad call 2nd play-Clean block to me, dont know wat the penalty was but shouldnt have been called. Quote
rombone Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 yea he is #52 and he is blocking in the back as you can see Quote
Grundy10 Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Haha..Nice Lance, nice...Sure is nice watchin all this video on the internet since I dont have a tape to watch on my own tv! haha....I gotta remember that next time I see you! haha Quote
wavefan64 Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 The play is called back on #31 rombone. Quote
BEARCAT Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 Vindication??? Where are the 20 times we had players in postion to make tackles and they were blatantly hit in the back on cracks with no call when the ref were standing right there? I'm sure you'll conveniently forget about those. You can't see the hit on the 1st play. This video is inconclusive because you can't see the angle the blocker came from. He was coming back to make the block meaning the hit was to the back side of the shoulder pad. That is a clip. On the second one #20 at cornerback was already out of the play, but you can SEE from the way his body turns that #52 had his hand wrapped around him. No matter how much you hate it, that is a hold. It amazes me how all year myself and other Bearcat fans have been made fun of for rationalizing how close our losses were, yet Grundy goes the extra mile to show how they "deserved" to win a close one they lost and everybody jumps on their bandwagon. I bet everybody on here could take the time to post two or three plays/calls/no calls that cost them a close game at some point this season. We could post several plays that could have gone the other way last Friday night. It is all futile whining to try to save face for losing a game you all claimed you would dominate. Here's to Virginia High's 2004 shut out of Grundy at their house. Quote
Tid_Bit Posted November 23, 2004 Report Posted November 23, 2004 congratulations. I Give you guys much credit. With that being said drop the Rodney Dangerfield act. Quote
