  1. In the Southwest District...absolutely not! Graham's student section was the largest and loudest all year. Richland's student section was good, but not quite up to the level of the G-Men. The Rife's Raiders was a great idea, though!

  2. On Friday, March 19th, the Graham High School student council, along with Welmont Health Systems, is going to hold a blood drive for area bloodbanks. Please help save a life, for the life you save could be yours. For more information, please call Graham High School @ 276-326-1235. The times are from 8am until 2pm. Please tell your friends and neighbors, and come donate blood.

  3. There is much more to the Graham High School Basketball team than what some people see (esp. those on virginiapreps.com ). The Graham High School basketball team does wonders for the community. In addition to bringing great basketball into Graham Middle School for what seemed weeks on end, the G-Men have also done deeds exceeding the call of the game. During the tragedy experienced at Princeton H.S. and Mr. Otey, the G-Men signed a small gift and send it as a token of their thoughts to both the Princeton and Otey famililes. In addition, the G-Men have also taken time from their day at school to read to students at both elementary schools in Bluefield. Also, after every home game, the G-Men would come out of the locker room and greet the fans that stayed to speak with the Champions. Also, the same kids who were read to by the G-Men also looked up to these guys, as many autographs were signed by future stars, on and off the court. Many people only see what happens on a court or on a field as the true colors of a team. This is just one example of a fine athletic club. I am not bragging or blowing smoke up anyones backside, but after reading and taking a beating from fans across Southside and other parts of the state, I felt a need to let the community know that this basketball team, as all students of Graham High School, are true champions. That G-Man pride...you have to love it! The best part, is that our community already knows all of the above! It is the "foreign fan" from other districts and conferences that doesn't understand the pride and maturity of the Southwest District and Graham High School. Wow, do I feel better now! wink.gif

  4. but the G-Men are going to be meeting up with Tunstall High School tomorrow night, Friday NIght, at Tazewell Middle School with a tip at 7pm. Then, on Saturday, the Regional Championship game will be held at Marion H.S. To get to Marion High School, take 81 south and exit 47. take a left at the end of the ramp, and continue about 3 miles. When you see Wendy's on your right, take a left at that light. Then, clear your throat to get ready to cheer on the G-Men. Also, tomorrow nights game is extremely important because the winner automatically advances to State QTR Finals, to be held at Tazewell pending a Graham win. Go G-Men!

  5. I am not sure where, or on what station, Bluefield Basketball games are broadcast on, but Graham High School Basketball is, and has been, broadcast on Kicks Country 106.3 . I think it has been great how supportive the community is to such a talented basketball team that 5 years ago won 1 game! Anyway, tune in to 106.3 to follow the G-Men to Richmond!

  6. Thank you...and, yes, the competition will get tougher. It sure was great to play Bluefield this year. Hope both teams can do as well, and obviously better, than the football teams were able to accomplish...this time with or without snow!

It would be great to see both basketball squads once again battling it out for a state title!

  7. Here is the bracket, as of now, for VHSL AA Reg. 4 basketball.

Graham will have a bye on Feb 25. Martinsville will have a bye on Feb 25. Richlands will play Abingdon on Feb 25 at Marion. Fielddale/Collinsville or Tunstall will play Lee or Marion on Feb 25 (Highlands runn-up v. Piedmont run-up) at Marion or VA High (tbd). On Feb 27, Graham will play the winner of F/C, Tunstall, Lee, Marion at Tazewell Middle School. Martinsville will play the winner of Richlands/Abingdon at a neutral site. On Saturday, Feb 28, the winners of both games will play, and win or lose will advance to the State QTR Finals. However, if Graham wins Region 4, the game will be played AT TAZEWELL MIDDLE SCHOOL! Lets just hope that for the sake of the fans and the sake of the G-Men, that the game is played at Tazewell. Then, pending a win, the G-Men will play again in Richmond at the Siegal Center March 11-March 13. But, lets not get ahead of ourselves! We must first win on Feb 27th!

  8. Carroll County lost to Richlands 61-48

    Graham beat Grundy 88-40

Graham will play Richlands on Friday, 7:30 at Graham Middle.

The boys JV team from Graham will play Carroll County at 6:00 prior to the Varsity game. The Jv G-Men upset Richlands and will play for the SWD Championship.

  9. Simply put, all the Dolphins need to win a Super Bowl is a quarterback. That "thing" they have taking snaps now couldn't start for a Pop Warner team. Now that Norv is gone, the only bad apple left is Mr. Jay Fieldler! Whew, I even hate his name!

  10. You were right, Bluefield Rules...I did not realize Beckley had lost that number of games. I guess we saw last night why sports are played on fields and courts and not paper or computers. Still amazes me that Graham can beat Bluefield and Capitol and lose to Beckley who lost to both Bluefield and Capitol. Oh well...no harm done, really. Still contenders in both states!

  11. Tomorrow night (Friday night) at home against Tazewell (another great rival!) and then again home on Saturday at 2:30 against Grundy. Also, many of you may have known or heard of Bill "Pig" Pruett. He passed away this week. He will long be missed. He was one of the gentlemen that created the G-Star and a long time friend and supporter of Glynn Carlock...

  12. The Graham G-Men will be playing in Grundy tomorrow at the new middle/elementary school. Also, if you cannot make the trip to Grundy, Kicks Country will broadcast the game on 106.3. The G-Men are 3-0. Should be an exciting matchup. Next week holds several important games including Abingdon, Bluefield, Tazewell, and Grundy again. All of those games are home. GO G-MEN!
