from what ive seen this year of Hurley ( watched 5 games or so), they are a GOOD team, and could very make a deep run at state, but they arent Twin Valley Good from a few years ago(Goodman, Lester, so on)
84 Points isnt the most scored by a Hurley team since mark Cooper took over .. I played for him his 1st year as Head Coach at Hurley an we beat Mtn Mission 85 to 62 .. That was in 2007
Abingdon's enrollment right now is 896, but close to 75 of those kids are special ed. and there are also between 15 and 20 still there for a second diploma(13th year students). These kids are bussed in from all the county high schools, plus a few from saltville. So our actual numbers are more in line with Richlands, Tazwell and Marion. Hopefully they would allow us to play around here instead of traveling several hours for a district game. Traveling for football wouldn't be that bad, but the sports that play games during the week would really get the short end of the stick.
I m so tired of hearing this, this is all I have heard since Friday night is people talking about how it was such a shocker that Hurley won. With most of these comments coming from people from Grundy, of course!!! The only reason Grundy fans are saying it's a surprise that the Rebels defeated Haysi is because Grundy beat Hurley and then Haysi came to Grundy and destroyed them. Just go to show you that if the Rebels played Grundy right now it would be a whole different ballgame. Grundy gave up 44 points to Haysi which by the way all came before halftime, while Hurley held Haysi to just 8 points. In my opinion it's not a surprise, we defeated Haysi last year badly on their home field and this year beat them at The Cliff. I wished everyone would quit talking like it's unbelievable that Hurley won. I talked to some of the boys after the game and believe me they knew that everyone in the Mountaineer picked against them, they knew what the prediction in the Bristol was, and they knew what people on here was saying especially those people on the other side of the mountain. Something else I have found funny is how some people thought the grass was greener on the other side of the mountain and now they set over there at 5-3 and the Rebels are 5-3 as well while it looks like the Rebels have a good chance to go 7-3 while Grundy still have a whoopin coming from the Honaker Tigers!!!
For the record Mr.Dotson, Wave316 is Green, not Gold, see your still bitter? talking about grass being greener, well that goes both ways, at least our guys didnt loose to their old team ;)
alright, went in walmart tonight(Grundy), and noticed they had some T-shirts at the front, got closer and noticed it was some local schools, browsed through them, found Honaker, Hurley, Twin Valley, and Central...but no Grundy
To be on topic though,I hate the way this county is ran, Ward is the head coach therefore let him make decisions a head coach makes, but since that makes too much sense I hope like Lance that they just fit in and things go smooth.
Off topic but who else has xferd this year in Buchanan?
