Most of Giles' kicks went into then OUT of the end-zone last week. Only short KO was with under a minute left in the half - that had to be on purpose.
Their D-line was all over Lebanon's backfield - I'd guess less than half of the plays in the 1st half resulted in gains of over a yard. Most of the time the Pioneers broke through the Giles O-line was because they were supposed to - designed screens or away from the play when the guard or tackle pulled.
The biggest problem I saw was a HUGE difference in their YAC's (contact). Lebanon wasn't very good at bringing down the guys they got their hands on. IF PV can tackle, they should still be in it in the 4th q.

OR you can go through Roanoke and around by Tanglewood - it's only about 5 minutes from the Mall - stay on 419 a couple of miles and turn left on 221 to the 3rd light (419 from Salem has a lot of lights, so I don't know which way is quicker)

Independence had the nations current longest winning streak, but the all-time win streak is De La Salle High School in Concord, California with 151.

I was hoping so much .. would like to see "downtown" used for local businesses. But the way thimgs drag on around here, It may be 10 years b4 anything happens up there.
Of course, they'll prob. move up there when they can, leaving 2 empty floors downtown.

Parkersburg's story on the game made me laugh- actually, the 1st line did. Isn't that a Turkish bathhouse activity?

When I looked across the field and saw all those clean uniforms, I have to admit I felt they should have, at least, gotten into the game. They show up at practice and do their part, the game was not in doubt, and I feel they deserved to have a shot at getting their name on the stat sheet. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed, plus, those kids can't someday say they played in the last game ever played by a Highlands district team; and they didn't get any "big game" experience to carry over into the future.
Now, I can understand leaving the starters in for a while - Seniors, too, but the bench shpuld have been cleared for the players sakes.

Messer with a 38 yd (I think) run against the 2nd team D makes it 48-13, 1:21 left in 3rd. PAT no good - just ended 3rd.

The prob. earlier was fixed with a port change. Like I said, I can't listen now due to the firewall not being switched, so I can't even find out IF we have a problem.

what are the field conditions?

End zones were muddy to start with - now the field is getting slick/slippery.

thanks.
Cats denied on 6 plays inside the 10, then the 95 yarder was 2nd-longest run in Blues history.

We had a "situation" earlier and had to switch some stuff around, so I can't send AND listen tonight. Did you get us back, and how's it holding up?

2mar? All-x teams usually aren't released until all the teams are done, which would be at least 3 weeks for the SWD.

.500 in conference the last 4 years and 0-8 vs. D-B.
Guess the thought was "if you're standing still, you're gonna get passed".

Region I passed that rule last Summer. Big stink raised out there because Nandua didn't send anyone to the meeting. But some people still didn't know about it - Va. Preps had Nandua in on their 1st playoff list last year, then had to correct it.
new Grundy "detour"
in SWVA Basketball
Posted
(thought I'd put this here since the b'ball teams coming to Grundy or Hurley would need to know)
It was determined a while back that the little bridge at the traffic light on Main Street needs to be replaced. They're about a month behind schedule, but it's finally time. Therefore, a new traffic pattern has been implemented to accomplish this task.
Traffic no long goes down Main Street by the courthouse - Rt. 460 is now on the riverside road that runs behind the pile of dirt that was once the town. To go up Slate Creek, you come by the bank & the Funeral Home to Riverside Tire and swing left down along the river (behind the old Chevy lot).
Those going to the Post Office can turn right at the NEW TRAFFIC LIGHT on the river road in front of the Courthouse. Those going up Slate Creek should go on down to the lower end, pop back up on Main Street at the light beside the parking building, and turn right (those going towards the middle school will turn left).
Due to the floodwall construction being done on Walnut Street, the new traffic pattern that was implemented there recently, and the law school students who walk along that street, I do NOT recommend using it as a short-cut. Buses shouldn't even think about it.
