I've said before that this year's team is for the most part pretty young ,and inexperienced at the skill positions besides running back. The athletes and speed are there,but inexperience at the skill positions,and probably not having the size on the lines that MV normally has is a big factor into this teams performance. MV hasn't really had a bad season in about 9-10 years, so noone can have a winning season every year not to mention alot of schools have at least 3 or 4 losing seasons in 10 year span. MV will bounce back.

they're scrimmaging Mount View and Bluefield this weekend in the grid-o-rama

To simplify what I said previously Richlands isn't worth AAA points,and W.C. AA points,because of how good they are or the state of Virginia is in high school football in general. Bluefield will get those points if they can beat those teams,because in the state of West Virginia Richlands would be classified as a AAA school and W.C. a AA school,because of their enrollment numbers. I'm not trying to disrespect you bogeavers or anyone else,but whether you get A,AA,or AAA points for any school you beat in WV it's determined by that schools enrollment numbers boys in particular. Like I said before it has nothing to do with how strong the state of Virginia is in high school football.

How tough the those 2 teams are or how tough virginia is in high school football has nothing to do with why you would get AA points for W.C. and AAA points for Richlands. You get those points if you beat them,because of their enrollment numbers.

I believe it's safe to say by the process of elimination that MV will face Martinsville,and GW also.

I'd say that if all the games are va vs wv then Bluefield will face George Wythe and Martinsville,Wayne will face Graham and Richlands,Martinsburg will get Martinsville and Graham likely leaving Mount View with Richlands and George Wythe. Martinsburg could get Richlands instead of Martinsville which would give Mount View Martinsville,but I'd have to say Martinsburg and Martinsville would probably be a definite matchup since they're the 2 biggest schools.

Having this event on a friday instead of a Saturday seems to hinder alot of people from attending. It seems like they would have this on a Saturday in order to accomodate people who work during the week or live out of town. I think if they did they would see a significant amount of people attend on a Saturday compared to Friday.

I like some of the older Mount View Uniforms alot better than the new ones,and wish they would've kept the helmet solid white.

I believe Big Creek is still searching for games to fill their schedule.

I don't see why Bluefield wouldn't welcome Salem to play in the grid-o-rama if the decision of who get's invited is basically the decision of Bluefield High School,but possibly the fact that it's sponsored by pocahontas coal leaves the decisions of who's invited up to them,and not Bluefield high school.

As for Beckley being invited the thing is that Bluefield and Mount View have tried to schedule them during the regular season,but they've stated they don't want to play against any school classified below AAA,and as long as they're a part of the MSAC they won't have to.

You can't always guarantee that a school that has considerably larger enrollment numbers than another automatically guarantees the bigger school would win in football,or any other sport if the 2 schools being compared were to play. An advantage in quantity doesn't always guarantee that a certain school would have an advante in the quality of athletes. This may not be the case when comparing Bluefield and Salem,but I do recall a few years ago Bluefield beating Martinsburg which is double the size of bluefield basically.

Wickman's blown 2 or 3 saves this year,and I'd have to say that would mostly be due to the back problems he's having which landed him on the dl.Wickman has been a very good acquisition for the Braves with the leadership he's provided the braves bullpen not to mention the job he's done on the field when he's healthy.

Mount View would be classified as single A in virginia based on enrollment numbers,but if we were a va school I believe we would play up a level,because I don't think there's many A schools in this area outside of gate city and Powell Valley that would be able to pose a competitive game with Mount View. No disrespect mean,but I don't see Haysi,Hurley,Honaker,Twin Valley, or Clintwood being able to compete with the level of talent MV has year to year.

Just wondering if any of you believe there will be a series take place between Mount View and Tazewell? I know you guys had a good series going with Big Creek before Big Creek's enrollment plummeted to where it is now,so I thought Mount View vs Tazewell would be a good matchup considering both schools really aren't that far apart in distance.

No I haven't heard anything about this,but as I said before in an earlier post MV would most likely have to look out of state for another game just to make 9,so I would say this is for real.

I can't confirm an exact date for the South Point game,but most likely it will be played on 09/21/07 which would make it the same week of the season as the game that was played last year.

Yeah with turf coming the games played between Bluefield,Graham,and Mount View should be alot more exciting to watch with all the speed the 3 teams have. Cordero High on turf could really cause some problems for either team if he's able to get out of the backfield.

Mount View only has 8 games right now,and 1 of those is with South Point,Ohio which they travelled to play last year. I'm not to optimistic on Mount View having more than 9 games either,because at this point to my knowledge they may have to look for another out of state game just to get 9.

Iaeger would be considered A single A team in Virginia.

I don't believe Texas would've gotten by UNC,because UNC and Kansas practically mirror each other in their style of play. Only real difference is that Carolina has more talent and depth.

The kid needs to be brought back to reality,and the person on tsp that said that is clearly living in his own little green and black colored world where the word warriors appears on everything lol.

I think Mr. Caldwell's mouth could be his own worst enemy come tomorrow night. East plays better team ball than MV,but simply doesn't have the athletes that MV has,and if these kids play as a team,and not individuals East could be in for a long night.

Caldwell may regret calling Bluefield out,and apparently overlooking,and guaranteeing a win against MV.

If he would've thrown the ball inside a few more times to the big guy Patterson instead of hogging it Huntington would've most likely won the game,but even in the last possession of the game when they were down by 2 they still didn't get it to him.

Doesn't Bluefield sill have to travel to Welch to play Mount V?iew? If I'm not mistaken last night was the first time he 2 played each other this year,so there should be another game left.
