  1. #9?? Wtf.

Haha, I think this is the "better safe than sorry" rule. I'm stating the obvious here, but it's much more likely for the tailgate to spiral out of control with liquor than it is beer. And really, you want three things to happen. You want to 1.) get into the stadium under your own power, 2.) remember at least bits and pieces of the game, and 3.) not get arrested.

  2. Is that four numbers?....... :D

We are rebuilding. Are we as good as Tech? I never said we were..... With Hunter I think we were. Without him, I don't think we are. It changes our team that much. I made a post in fun about us turning the corner and Dooleys pants and you guys can give me a hard time about it if you want.

Your comments about our schedule are pretty weak. I mean yes we do still play in the SEC last time I checked. I mean would I trade Bama, LSU, USC, UGA, Arkansas, and FL for what UNC, Clemson, GT, Miami, Wake, and VA? No I wouldn't. I would rather play those teams because to me its alot more fun to play against better teams. Would VT trade? No, because they would rather play weaker teams and win then brag to UT fans about what they have done the last 20 years. Which is really nothing. Honestly..... I mean yea you beat us. I think they are going to put up a sign that says welcome to VA we won the chick-fil-a bowl in 2009 vs. Tennessee. We weren't very good. But I mean I could say 94 Gator Bowl when Peyton spanked that ass. But see it doesn't really mean much. You weren't very good.....

You had a chance to play in the SEC and by all accounts none of you wanted it. Why? Because you know what would happen. You can say whatever you want. You know and so do I. I know that chaps your ass. But you chickened out. You wouldn't get to talk about the 10 win years or the conference titles. But doesn't it bother you that no one really cares who wins the ACC anymore. I mean it is a conference that good football programs go to die.... ask FSU and Miami. But hey you did get the Cuse and Pitt.... They might help. Oh I was thinking basketball.... Maybe you can get Uconn and Rutgers... that will be even more great games to go watch.....

This post is up to Falconman levels of dumb.

You may or may not be right about UT playing VT's schedule and vice versa, but we will never know, will we? That's what sucks about your statements. They're all speculative. Give me something definitive and we can go from there. Until then, we'll all just be caught up in some useless conversation.

  3. We don't, but we're used to it, and can just unload the applicable stats when you bash us.

    0, 0, 0, 1-3, 1-26, etc. ;)

...Stats that speak enough to where Virginia Tech is as a program. "You have a difficult time beating Top-5 teams" is better than "you have a hard time beating anyone".

Again, I think I speak on behalf of all VT fans when I say that I'm happy with the consistency over the course of however-many years now, but we would like to take that next step to more BCS wins/NC win. I don't think that statement should come as a shock to anyone.

  4. Indianapolis without Peyton or the Chiefs (regular)?

    I vote Chiefs.

Lost back-to-back weeks to the Bills and Lions by a combined total of 89-10.

And they play San Diego next. Any predictions? 42-7, 45-6?

Will they go 0-16? They play the Colts (Peyton questionable) in Week 5...

Yep. The Chiefs may just win the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

I'm calling 38-9 SD this weekend.

  5. You must know some of the worst VT fans around. I am friends with quite a few Tech fans and they all took the win for what it was...glad we won, excited about the progress we saw in some of our players, but we know it wasn't anything to brag about. I seriously can't see why any VT fan would call this an "amazing" win...I could see them saying it about a particular player's performance, but not the overall win. Just my opinion.

    Yep, this.

I got pretty bored during the 4th quarter actually. Tech took care of business; bring on Marshall.

  6. Personally, I'd like to secure UConn, if they can behave themselves, to further strengthen what is now the undisputed best basketball conference in America. If we must take Rutgers to land UConn then I can live with that; someone will have to finish last. Like most others, I would prefer not to get into bed with Notre Dame. There isn't a more overrated school in America.

I've seen the UCONN/Rutgers rumors as well.

NYC is full of Syracuse and UCONN alum, so if that happened the ACC would pretty much poach the NYC market from the Big East. Needless to say, that would help the ACC out where it matters most: $$$$$.

  7. I think there are four things that complete some spectrum between "appreciate" and "satisfy".

ACC Championship/Orange Bowl berth <-------> Orange Bowl win <---------> NC berth <------->NC Win

    Appreciate <-------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Satisfied

So I guess what I'm saying is that I can appreciate the fact that we're the top of the ACC, but I don't think I will be satisfied until we have that crystal football. That's just me though.

  8. http://www.roanoke.com/news/nrv/wb/297753

    The Quidditch World Cup.

"I know we look like dorks, but we have fun," said sophomore Alec Nicewick, 19.

And I thought the Hokies were a one-trick pony. I'll admit when I'm wrong. ;)

Wow. Seems like everyone they interviewed is 19 years old. We're still relatively young and in a rebuilding year it looks like. Give us a couple of years and barring injuries or players turning pro, we could really contend.

I mean, Nicewick showed some heart when he climbed that tree... with the broom still between his legs. That's the passion we look for in Hokie Nation.

  9. VT isn't going anywhere...they are in the ACC and will be there until there is no longer an ACC to be in...

If WVU were to go to the SEC, it will cost the University a pretty penny in upgrading ALL athletic facilities to SEC standards (yes, the SEC takes that into account...same could be said for VT to join the SEC). Also, WVU would have to add some sports teams to be considered for SEC membership...men's golf especially. In this time of poor economic conditions and already strained budgets, I don't see this happening (for either school)...

If/when the "super conference" idea comes to fruition, it will look like this...Pac 10/12/16 in the west, SEC in the south, Big 10/11/12/16 in the midwest/north, and a combo ACC/Big East football schools in the east.

When all is said and done, the Big 8/12 will no longer exist...surviving members will find homes in the west, south, and midwest/north. Some schools currently in the BCS conferences will not survive to be "super conference" schools and will be relegated to the "mid-major" conferences.

My $$$ has VT and WVU in the same conference after all this plays out...

    This.

  10. I just asked this question in the other thread we have going about SEC expansion, but it's applicable to Tech and the rest of the schools listed here as well. How much more money would they make if they made the move to the SEC (you know, assuming these kinda ridiculous rumors actually come true)?

Let's be honest. That's the no. 1 factor going into these "negotiations" for lack of a better word.

  11.

Oliver Luck is doing great things with WVU athletics and i'm very excited about our future. I just think this would be a step in the wrong direction. Hopefully if offered, he can look away from the $$$ and think about other possibilities.

Good post, especially this part. Do we know what the bump up in revenue for WVU would be if they joined the SEC? I would assume it would be a lot... too much to pass up even. But I think you're right as far as taking a step in the wrong direction.
