october 18 is open and october 25 is Grundy at home. everything else looks to be correct.

Tazewell will host Mt. View on August 23 at 7:30 for a scrimmage/benefit game.

  2. lots of speculation and 1-sided facts here.

The real question is... does a TEACHER have the right/authority to tell the student to "un-display" the shirt or not. Me thinks teacher shoulda escorted student to the office... maybe not immediately, but at least when the student 1st refused.

My feeling is it was the teacher who wanted the attention... as well as the writer. Notice he ends the story by saying the kid wore the shirt again today (Monday). I would've contacted the school (or, better yet, went there) to see what happened before writing the story.

When I was in HS, I had a "confrontation" with the cafeteria 'boss' while in line. Lasted about 30 seconds. She went to the principal, who called me in next period to discuss it. Since some servers backed up my side, she ended up getting a talking to from him. School employees aren't always right.

Teacher had every right to ask him to turn shirt inside out or to change shirts.

No thursday night home game for tech???? How long has it been since we havent had one of those?

  4. I've got nothing against Richlands but I do have issues with some of their fans and how they "cheat" the system to gain athletic advantage on the football field.

If you think about it, Richlands has never won anything playing by the rules...

    bahahahahahah......pause.....bahahahhahaha..

    Awesomeness.

  5. I have several cards from the class of 83 quarterbacks. Several Marino and Elway Rookies in excellent shape( hard plastic covers). I also have 2 complete sets and several loose cards from the 91 season. Which includes a few Farve rookies. I also have 2 complete sets of the dream team cards from 92 Barcelona. Dont know what I will ever do with them but I assume there is a couple of Dollars sitting in that box. LOL

  6. It's not a "healthy rivalry." Any time violence and excessive harassment is in the picture then it reaches far beyond the definition of "healthy." None of your examples of rivalries have gained the negative notoriety that VT/WVU did. Tech fans point fingers at WVU fans, WVU fans point fingers at VT fans, and it probably is about a 50/50 split in all honesty.

But I will say this: The fact that neither of your biggest rivals (Pitt and VT) want to play you guys if their hand isn't forced in conference match-ups doesn't really help your cause either. IMO, both schools are completely fine without each other and don't need any extra help with revenue, selling out stadiums, etc. Let it rest.

    good call .....and EXCELLENT POST.

  7. these teams are so political...looks like they split first team 3 different ways to 3 different schools.

They best don't always end up where they should...sadly.

I have sat in on a few of these meetings and you would not believe the deals that are brokered to get certain individuals on a team, be it just to make first team or to be player of the year. Its not just SWD meetings either, this happens at all levels.

  8. LOL, then what's the trophy case meant for? Sure as Hell ain't holding a football trophy, now is it? Its primary purpose now is gathering dust and being a source of hubris that is roundly mocked in states not named "Virginia". But we might lend you our '10 NCAA Men's Soccer trophy.

Or our '13 NCAA Men's Tennis trophy, when we win it this year.

    :)

We could just reserve the case for the Commonwealth Cup. Its not going anywhere real soon anyhow.

  9. Then why do they send them off to be redone? Better take a look at them tonight. You can tell who is blocking and who isn't.

They recondition the inside of the headgear to make sure that it comes up to code and that the outside integrity has not been compromised. In the old days that included painting. Now that they are molded plastic, painting is no longer required.

  10. You have some parents who want to coach...how can you criticize a player with 14 TD's...and you have some players who are afraid of contact...if you are blocking right there will be no paint on the front of your helmet...look around and see who is blocking....look at the helmets...

Actually most of these newer helmets are molded plastic. They are not painted. So if they are missing paint, then they are probably helmets from the 80's.
