Marion wouldnt know what to do with a preseason #1. They're just naturally an underdog program. Thats how they play, that gives them their character. Marion always plays with a chip on their shoulder which is why they have a tendency to play dirty.
Abingdon have a pretty good season considering their success in their JV program.However, they lose a number of key player via graduation. Abingdon is always at the around the top of the SWD in basketball and it shouldnt be any different this year.
Keep an eye on Richlands this year. I see them making a strong run with the number of returning players they have including McGee which will lead the team in everything offensive. He's hard to stop some nights but if you stop him you stop Richlands.
Towards the end of halftime Abingdon fan were treated to a egg bath by some very classy Marion fans. This is just another piece of evidence that Marion is one of, if not the very worst team in terms of class by they're fans and students.

It was the some of the inside info...im not sayin that this board isnt real, it is...and i like that. The problem is when you get on here and see the Abingdon fans sayin the same thing every week with the same comebacks everyweek. Its the same thing from Richlands fans, we all know they're the best there ever was.
I used to come on swvasports and enjoy looking at what people thought of the matchups for the next weeks games, injuries, get some inside info on some teams, etc etc...but now times have changed. Every post seems to turn into one about either 1. Abingdon or 2. Richlands. If theres one thread talking about that teams upcoming game, it's different. The problem is every single thread about any team someone has to pop in with a comment about Abingdon or Richlands. Naturally, people respond to these comments and it ruins the thread as a whole. Maybe this is hipicritical for me but i felt like the point needed to be made.
Abingdon-Va High is always a good game just because of the rivalry, no matter how good or bad the teams are on any givin year. Abingdon won on a catch in the end zone late in the game last year, should be another exciting one this year. Abingdon by 3
Just stating the facts, not "whining". Grundy does dirty things under the pile. Any team around can defend that fact. Or maybe they just do it against Abingdon cause they cant beat them without doing things under the pile. Women pinch. Men play football
lol You all make me laugh, i swear. Now this post is not for the intelligent posters on here, but for those who are bickering abingdon this, abingdon that, grundy sucks, abingdon is the best team in the area, abingdon 71-3, the only thing im saying, is shut up and let both teams play. I actually respect abingdon, and i love grundy, abingdon always played us fairy good when i played and i do look for a good game.
I hope grundy wins, but it would not suprise me if abingdon wins. Just wishing good luck for both teams and not trying to offend anyone, just be quiet and let your respective team take care of business....sheesh.

Yes, Abingdon always plays Grundy fair. The other way around? not so much. Grundy enjoys pinching the general crotch region under the piles and poke fingers through facemasks after the whistle. Get ready for a dirty game Abingdon.
Grundy is fighting the curse...and the way the Marion game played out only made me believe it more...all depends on which team shows up to play...if the team that came out flat against Graham shows up, Abingdon will win...if the team that played Marion shows up, Grundy will win....I think it's all up to Grundy and how bad they want it...if they show up to play they will win.
The thing that gets me, and anyone who has film on Abingdon can watch this and verify it, the defense has a huge flaw..if you run to the weak side against Abingdon you will gain yards every time...they shift the LB's over to far to the strong side and it leaves a huge hole...I don't know why no one seems to take advantage of this because you are one iso block away from getting a runner in to the secondary every play, I noticed it last year and it's still there...you guys are also wide open to the pass across the middle past the LB's...your LB's play up and go after the run all the time, they bite in on the run to quick...play action pass would eat you guys alive.
I'm sure the coaches are looking at it. Its a little low to point out specific flaws in a teams play on a message board.

Every time Abingdon wins, it's always that the other team is terrible or gave the game away. No one ever gives credit where credit is due...just a statement
not that you guys have a bad coach, you don't...just saying...he needs to be able to do a few things that don't seem to be on the table...at this point not sure he could...hard to go back and change things once they have been done in a different way...sometimes its easier to start fresh with a new attitiude...from what i've heard the parents and the front office throw a fit over certain things and get their feelings hurt pretty easily if a coach says anything to a kid the "wrong" way...don't get me wrong here I have kids myself and I wouldn't want anyone treating them badly, but with any football program you have to expect a certain degree of discipline and I think that part is what is missing at Abingdon...just my opinion.
This is where there is a major misconception of Abingdon athletics lies. Execpt for ONE time a few years back when there was ONE kid's PARENTS that disaproved of Gregory, there has been no issues to where anyone complains or cries about getting yelled at. Due to this ONE issue, that happened 3 years ago where the kid and parents are gone now, everyone sees Abingdon as whiny kids that complain about getting yelled at. This is due to middle school style gossiping and misinformation spread throughout the community and surrounding communities. The fact is, however, that the student athletes at Abingdon,like most schools, are hard-working in all sports and complaints are a rarity that get depressed by coaches and parents alike that are trying to develope strong-minded men in the world. Don't judge athletes in the school on ONE issue by ONE kid's PARENTS when the people that go there now were not even students yet, that they had no way of having any relation to the issue.
I'm trying to figure out why the Richlands fans are having a field day with this win...I mean, all you do is talk about how good Richlands football is every day so, in that case, did u really expect it to be close? Act like you've won a football game before
What about Abingdon? I know they're lost a lost 3 key players in they're scorer (hunt), ball handler (funk), and big man (manning). They're JV had some good talent last year and some other key players coming back so i think they can still contend
A few years ago Richlands was playing Abingdon. Fuller came off the line with his head down and the corner came up and put him on his back. He was at least 6 inches shorter and 100 lbs smaller than Fuller but put a great lick on him.
Its the same thing every year..."PH might have a chance to whoop Abingdon" or " PH is gonna crush Abingdon this year"...come on, they never even get close-Abingdon 35-0
who cares? they might not be able to give out athletic scholarships but they find ways for him to go there and play soccer with little to no expence to him...stop trying to degrade this honor by saying he really didnt sign a LOI
