I played football at PH for 4 years and 3 of them under Coach Compton. and the kid that you are talking about is tyler dotson. the reason he quit was not bc of compton but bc he was a girl when it came to football. Period end of story. PH has a lot of those and Compton or anybody cant do anything about it. We lost Because we got out played not bc we got out coached.
Ummm wrong there man i am very close with red and he told me it was because of mike. He said he thought it was crazy to play in practice (with an serious injury) but not in the game? thats all i can say
I kinda doubt BC will lead the conference in sacks for 2 resons. 1.) Compton will finally be coaching o-line the way it needs to be coached instead of over seeing everything and making sure what needs to be done is done and 2.) the players that he will be coaching want to play football and will be eager to learn from someone who has been there and done that. He wont have to put up with dummies like some of the guys on this board nor will he have to baby sit for mommy/daddy. Ph had talent to run the spread skill wise simply because they were and still are not big enough or strong enough to play power football. Ritchie Thomas lost to Northwood many years ago, i doubt he would be able to beat holston considering the run of players they had the past 2-3 years.

kids at ph just dont have the morale to lift consistently. they are lazy, well must of them. we have about 6 kids that lift regularly. most being freshmen. the older kids say "they have better things to do" or "i don't need to lift to be good at football." attitudes like that wont get ph any better at football. doesnt matter what coach we have. the problem ph has now is the boys of fall.
Umm i know 2 of the kids who lifted consistently transferred to RHS aka the Blue Nation! and most kids did say that also with "Lifting will mess up my basketball shot or my throwing arm" i haven't heard any other school hear those phrases alot
Jonah 58 ur so full of crap I can smell it from here! If compton said that its just the cold hard truth. Their o-line couldn't block a little league team. They were a bunch of softee's that were to scared to punch somebody in the mouth. I guess if the pro tried to teach them how to pass block as far as move your feet, stay in front of him and be aggressive then that's exactly how he taught them. U expect some one to make chicken salad out of chicken shit? Please!! Besides Compton didn't coach the o-line one of his assistants was assigned that task.
I think Martinsville has the state 100 yd champ on their team and Brad roasted them. And Brad is not our fastest player. RHS has several players that can run #8,44,4,6,1,7,16, and 11 and I'm sure there are a couple I've left out. CS is a awesome team/program. And I agree with what most are saying. This one will be decided by mistakes. And I hope the blues make the least mistakes!

i doubt that i saw him play he stood straight up, didnt work any moves, rarely followed the ball. he came off quick but i didnt think he finished very well. What grade is he in? and whats his name?

it made my year that holston had a losing season! i heard they had talent like cody blevins and dillion dearmound. i heard dillion did real good. I knew cody did real well too especially last year! they had a decent noseguard last year but i gotta say that i heard he didnt do anything this year so what happened holston?
As we all know Abingdon loves to call themselves "Camelot". and friday was the fall of Camelot! so falconman you can finally get off this board and do something productive by blowing on your little flute there ;) I am glad that MV sent these Birds Southbound! and it will be a long long long time till theese birds will try to fly back north! so better luck next year and the year after etc.
I disagree. I think it is coaching. Holston suffered several years of poor coaching, but went with a young brilliant coach and look what that did. Yes, there was a good group of athletes coming through but let me remind you that Zack Titman (state champion) and Michael Thomas were no slouches. No, it took Jason Matlock to get the Jordan Blevins and others - to compliment the Pratts and Bramletts - to play football. Not just to play, but to stick with it. Trust me it took a lot of patience on Jason's part but he show tremendous resolve and that took Holston further than any other Washington County football team. No, I think Patrick Henry has the athletes to win, but dont have the right coach to get the athletes out to play. Which makes us from Damascus happy because we like beating the rebels. haha

The jist of the conversation was that CBurg wanted to play other D-4 Region IV teams for their out of district schedule....Carroll and Bassett accepted the offer and Abingdon wanted no part of it.
They ended up picking up Giles and Floyd Co., which if you ask me are better quality opponents, anyway...
He didn't elaborate, he has way too much class for that, the guy is a top notch coach and has completely turned that program around from a perennial doormat to a legitimate state contender. The way he said it just struck me odd.....l
In light of the big game Friday, I took a couple of days off from this forum. Mainly to reflect on my music and focus on my inner feelings. In doing so, I ask the question: “Falconman, why are you so Abingdon? What makes you proud to be a Falcon?†It was simple, I thought of you Richlands. Lets just do a comparative narrative between the two towns.
You and G man are one of the biggest trash talkers on here. Yall love to stir stuff to smell it. Thats why this website has basically lost all credibility. It has turned into a red neck non football knowing website. If you want to find something out about sports or teams this has become the last place you go unless you don't know any better. I do however agree that we are talking about 16, 17 year old kids and no names need to be brought up. Nor do personal situations, these are juvenilles. Some people on here really need to grow up and quit living vicariously through there local team. This is not a gossip forum it should be an informative athletic forum. Here lately it has been far from that.

what is it with you abingdon people, i know the majority of abingdon fans are nice, and SMART people, and i like abingdon, good place, but with falconman, southbound and a few others, make paople think your slightly "Handicapped". I mean come on, if abingdon beats richlands, I will beg forgiveness and praise the amighty falcon all season, but it-aint-gonna-happen. sheesh.
Richlands will win like 69-13...and thats a pessimistic score.
well i do know that PH 8th grade team has really impressed me! they have a really good group coming through so whoever is coach better use this group to their advantage
