Hidden Valley Titans Roanoke VA division 4 River Ridge The Titans return 19 starters from an 0-10 team whose jv team finished 1-9. They return virtually everybody but did have 3 close losses in a 4 point loss to Lord Botetourt , a 3 point loss to Northside and a 1 point loss to Pulaski .Experience always makes you better so the Titans should pick up a few wins .

Are u talking healthcare or the military because that is where the only substantial cuts can be ? Or are U just making broad statements with no clue?

The debt ceiling is only on debt already incurred , Iraq and others wars etc . Thus if we do not raise it in the short term and get our house in order in the long term , probably cut benefits for us all, work later , raise taxes etc . , we will eventually pay more in interest as a country plus personal debt such as credit card interest will go up and mortgage interest rates will go up also . The bottom line as far as the future is that either the rich pay more or you or I will . We have too many benefits and no way to pay for them .What will each one of you give up for the country ? You cannot cut taxes on the rich and raise spending it does not add up .If you think that we need a huge military then you will have to pay for it . And whether you like it or not we cannot continue on the path of not paying for healthcare . you and I are relatively healthy so we should not have to pay for sorry people who get sick or elderly people .

My guess is coach Williams, having played under Line coach Billy Miles will put a huge emphasis on offensive line play and accountability and teamwork on the line . Billy was the kind of coach that was very tough but would be the first one to praise also and would never give up on you and never throw you under the bus . But sometimes it took awhile to get to the praise part .

I hope that the Graham fans do not expect too much too quick as Mike is off to a late start but he will put his heart into it and will be very hard-nosed . Good luck to the former right tackle of the Salem Spartans as Salem and Graham have crossed paths in history again as Carlock and White used to coach together and Williams played at Andrew Lewis Middle School in Salem under Lawrence Bradleys son Larry Bradley . Good luck to the g-men this year!

Baseball is a lot different than other sports -hard to predict Salem has some pretty good depth at pitching , mostly young and defense is pretty good although has had letdowns . I believe 3 pitchers are sophomores in Dutin Garst , Matt Hill , Zach Minneroldi and senior Taylor Barrett . Salem also has pretty good hitting up and down lineup . Cave and Hidden Valley are also solid teams.

In a letter to Salem newspaper , Dale Foster , an Andrew Lewis football assistant under Eddie Joyce , the renowned coach at the old Salem High School , Andrew Lewis , remembers the great Lewis teams and the coach after coch Joyce's wife passed on . He started with his first state title in 1962 and ended with the runner up in 1971 in the game against the T.C . Williams. Foster explains that during this period Joyce did one of the best coaching jobs in VHSL history by taking a small AA school and playing against much larger schools all the time . During the 10 year period Lewis was state champion or runnerup in 5 out of 10 years. 1962 state champion 10-0 had to relinquish because of inelgible player 1964 state AAA champion 1966 state runnerup lost to Granby of Norfolk in state title 1967 state runnerup Andrew Lewis won their region by defeating Richlands 48-0 1971 state runnerup lost to Titans in Remember The Titans game . In that game Andrew Lewis had an enrollment of 975 in 9-12 Williams had an enrollment of 2500 in grades 11 -12 . To be honest most division 1 prospects cannot achieve that or get close . I know Glenvar's coach is a go-getter who revamped the weight room there. My belief is that Glenvar may have won the district last year but injuries killed them.
