It should be the best if at least not one of the best games of the season. Both teams return almost all of the players from last season and both "could" wind up playing for state championships this season, "could" operative word here.
It was a very close game last year at Ernie Hicks and will be again this year at Gate City..........it's going to be a lot of fun to watch ! It should let both teams know where they stand.
I think the blues can win this game, ( of course I am just a little biased...... ! ) but cannot make any mistakes. I love playing the City because the respect factor is high on both sides and because of the history of both teams.
I also think the Graham and Bluefield game will be interesting also. Graham should be as least a little better this year and Bluefield lost a couple of good players from last years team but still has Fred Simon as coach ! With ESPN filming the game, it could add a little extra incentive for both teams. Bluefield will win but it could be a little interesting.........for a while a least.
Frank Beamer has a strong team coming into this season. The offense is expected to be better in spite of the loss of key offensive linemen. Tyrod Taylor will be a key piece in the puzzle, as well as the rest of the passing game. The o-line is definitely a question mark, but that’s also what everyone was saying about Alabama last season after losing their star left tackle Andre Smith, and I’d say they did pretty well without him.
The season begins with Boise State, and that game will be huge. If Va. Tech gets past Boise, there are only a couple of bumps in the road before the toughest part of the schedule comes along. I know I’m getting way ahead of myself, but humor me. Tech could be undefeated going into the Ga. Tech game. They get the Yellow Jackets at home this year, then it’s @NC and @Miami, and Virginia to end the season at home. Could this be the year Va. Tech has a chance to go undefeated and play for the National Championship? I personally think this team is going to be very good, and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see them at or around the top of the rankings in November. What are your thoughts?
i see VT getting their first. but they have had many chances recently and just messed up one key game..so lets see what they can do
I wouldn't say they converted that great on corner kicks. They had a girl that could hit them pretty well, but out of all the corner kicks they had, one of them was a goal, and it was bouncing around the box until some girl finished. There were also about three straight corners that didn't get in play.

Actually, what you play for during the regular season is the regular season district championship. When you win that, you get an automatic spot in regionals as the district #1 team. You have proven yourself as the BEST team in that district by playing everyone in the district twice. The only sport that does not go by this is football. Basketball, baseball, softball, and soccer go by this. Where have you been for past 15 years or so? It has been like this forever. It is a fair system. If you do not win the regular season title, then you get a second chance by trying to win or place high in the tournament. The tournament is a second chance for all the teams that did not win the title. When it REALLY mattered was the regular season when Marion was losing to Abington and other teams. Should all that be overlooked? Neither Marion or Abingdon had ANYTHING on the line for that game. They both had their spots in regionals clinched. If Marion wants to play when eveerything is on the line, then beat Martinsville. Then beat Blacksburg or Carroll County..... REGIONALS IS WHERE EVERYTHING IS ON THE LINE! Win or you are gone!

The tie breaker is a lottery number that was chosen at the beginning of school year. Seven teams in district, so your school will have one number between 1-7, this number applies for all sports.

Yes it is a good thought, the list was before you beat Graham. The wins against GW and Carroll came before a lot of your injuries so I was thinking they would be hurt bad after that. After I saw the way GW beat you guys I was not sure what to think. I am going to post a new list at the end of the week. We will see how it comes out then.

2. George Wythe (Tied Galax but beat them bad at GW, Lost to Marion early then destroyed them at home 5-0, and Lost to Pulaski)
3. Carroll (Lost to Abingdon 3-2 and 2-1, Lost to Marion twice and tied Graham without Moreno but they Beat Graham 4-1 at East river and beat Galax for the first time in 8 years)
4. Graham ( Good team but have had some bad breaks)
5. Galax (little bit down this year but still has a good solid team)
