  1. Ok I have kept my mouth shut on this for 3 years now. I have been a fan, player, coach, and now a fan again. I could talk for days about the problems with tazewell ftball! Lol but I will stay on this subject. Coach Wyatt is a great coach from august to november. It was the offseason that the people didn't like. He wasn't around football, but especially the community, enough. The cruise just pushed things over the edge. But that being said, coach Wyatt left on his own, it was his decision over something that had nothing to do with the people of Tazewell or the way they felt about him.

    Amen

  2. Good play last night but still worried come tourney time without a bigger body down low. It showed over Princeton last Fri once they get in foul trouble they are hurting. Wyoming East was playing them well in 1st half beating them down low and went away from it second half. Hope he didnt quit because of football, basketball will be over in March plenty of time to get ready.

    Who quit

    Walk-on decides for the Hokies

Earlier this evening Virginia Tech picked up a new walk-on pledge. The latest addition is a key pick up for the Hokies on special teams.

Murray attributed his relationship to Wiles and the staff as part of his decision.

"I committed a couple hours ago to Coach Wiles," Tazewell, Va. kicker Andrew Murray said. "He said he was glad to hear that I committed and he was going to tell Coach Beamer. He's definitely glad to have me."

Have they worked out a trip yet?

"He said he's going to talk to Coach Beamer and make sure it fits into the rules with walk-ons."

Murray was clearly favoring the Hokies, but what made him pull the trigger.

"I don't know. I just thought about it all day at school. I talked to people at school about it and Virginia Tech was the only place I wanted to play," he said. "Now, I have the opportunity and I didn't want to pass it up.

"Every time I talk to the coaches, I like the chemistry they have up there. Everybody gets along and it's a great place. The coaches are always friends and caring. They want to help you and they are giving me I shot. All I wanted was an opportunity, that's something big and I want to make the best of it."

Murray had options with Marshall and West Virginia interested, but he loved Virginia Tech.

"It just came down to following my heart," he said. "I'm doing what I definitely thought was right."

Tech is recruiting Murray as an all-around kicker, punter. Have they discussed his opportunity to play?

"Coach Wiles told me their plan is to definitely get me up there at the start of school and then I can go ahead and compete," he said. "By coming in after spring, my chances aren't as great, but they are going to give a fair chance to everybody."

Murray finished his senior year at Tazewell hitting 5-of-9 field goals with a long of 53-yards. He averaged just over 40-yards on punts on the year.

  4. not talking crap just replying to those little puppies that are jealous of the ghs hire and that tazewell will be lucky to get someone as good that will stay more than a year or two. look at the past ghs 3 coaches in 30 plus years and tazewell how many in that same time frame. says something about the job at tazewell. 16 people apply for the ghs job lets see how many apply for the taz position. seems like you puppies are hoping this coach does not stay at ghs.

If Tazewell hires the man who I am hearing alot about u will be jealous because he would be a better hire than Graham. Both teams will have new guys and both were young last year. Should make for a good one. Im not on here to talk crap.. Just dont appreciate people putting down my alma mater

  5. agree i think many from taz are jealous of ghs now that we have someone that actually wants to be here unlike those at tazewell, how many coaches in the past 30 years have they had. since 74 this will only be the third coach at ghs.

u talk alotta shit on here. tazewell will be fine and whoever they get will be good enough to beat the G-men this year. mark my words everyone.

  6. Due to the short notice of Smith resigning why doesn't Tazewell just hire one of the finalists for Graham's opening. They have already gone through the interview process. If they were good enough to be a finalist for Graham they are definitely good enough for Tazewell. Two of the finalists are local and have Tazewell ties. Just an idea!!

what do u mean by if they were good enough to be a finalist then they are def good enough for Tazewell. your making it sound like Graham is this big great place and that Tazewell would like what Graham wouldnt. Thats total BS. maybe saying that a coach VT didnt hire would be good E&H. but tazewell and graham arent a big difference. in the past 3 yrs the series is 2-2. so that sounds even, doesnt it? jus dont put Tazewell down so quick. no matter who they get, theyll shock people.

  7. First Team

    Jordan Bryan, Graham

    Jacob Hess, Abingdon

    James Patton, Richlands

    Zach Viers, Abingdon

    Ryan Gravely, Carroll Co.

    Second Team

    Euneke Diaz, Graham

    Branson Bowman, Marion

    Mac Martin, Carroll Co.

    Cody Justus, Grundy

    Devon Johnson, Richlands

Player of the Year: Jordan Bryan, Graham

Coach of the Year: B.J. Lasley, Abingdon

I disagree 100% on the player of the year. The paper said Bryan had like 15.2 ppg and 9.7 rebounds per game or something like that? Brad Rhudy from Tazewell had 16.9 ppg and 13.2 rebounds per game. Is that not higher? I know Tazewell didnt go as far as Graham but its player of the year, not team of the year. If anything Rhudy should have atleast gotten 1st or 2nd team.

  8. Will this be the year someone from the Southwest District makes it to states? How will they stack up against Blacksburg, Hidden Valley, Martinsville, and Cave Spring? It seems as if year in and year out, these four teams are in the region semifinals.

    noo...they wont

  9. Lets see. Punt blocked. Then the punter is no longer a punter, he becomes a regular player. So you are saying that if grundy picks the ball up and starts running, the punter is the only man between them and the goal, they can not hit or block him. That is the most stupid reason I have heard.

the refs reasoning was that once it is blocked a man coming in for no reason and hitting him is not allowed
