  1. Lance, I was told that he has 24 stitches and I don't think he will be playing this Friday. If late in this past weeks game is any indication then yes Billiter will more than likely get the start. I think Hurley should win, but you just never know. Hurley has been in the game at the half the last 2 years and gave it away late. So we will just have to see Friday night.

  2. I've enjoyed watching Dillion Bailey for Hurley this year. Dillion is a north& south runner and has good blocking skills. Dillion is a throwback player from days passed. The old guys(me included) standing against the fence LOVE HIM!!!!:D

I figured it up and I have him at 498 yards as of right now. Not bad for only four games at RB plus when you look at the fact that they have multiple runners with Gibson, Jones, and Charles also getting a lot of carries as well.

  3. I heard from a fried at work today who claims he spoke with a supervisor in the Grundy area and was told that the conslidation was Grundy and Hurley would happen before a new school was built and all students would be going to Grundy High until the new one is built. Also that it would happen really soon like within the next year or two. Does anyone know if they are any truth to this?

  4. I heard it was due to lack of playing time. I heard numerous people talk about how fast he is but he still doesnt get to play much. Guess he just figured he would get to play a lot more at Hurley than would he did at Grundy.

  5. I believe that we could for the first time in a long time see a close game between these two. Both teams have their issues right now and it should be a good game. I hope that the Rebels have a good showing and maybe end this streak of Grundy victories over Hurley that dates back to 1991 which is the last time that the Rebels came out of top in this game.

  6. If Hurley doesn't start focusing its gonna be a VERY long year for the rebels. Haven't seen Grundy yet but I'm hearing they are having similar problems. Good luck to both teams. Lance I guess you'll be taking pics?

Got to do a better job running the ball, and holding onto it only had 8 yards rushing and had like 4 turnovers against Eastside. The Rebels offense did look a little better late and they started executing a lot better. It however was a little to late by that point. The Rebels have one of the biggest offensive lines around if they can just use that size and the running backs can hold on to the ball and hit the holes made by their line the Rebels might stand a chance.

  7. I went to the Twin Valley Jamboree today to watch Hurley. They tied in both scrimmages 1-1 against Northwood and 2-2 against Narrows. Recent Hurley transfer Ralph Jones scored twice and showed some great speed and athleticism. They also ran some plays with him at quarterback which worked at well with him running a lot when he was back there.

  8. Recently two transfers from Ashland, VA transferred to Hurley both of which will be playing football for the Rebels this fall. They had played for the Patrick Henry Patriots. Still unsure about what positions they will be playing.

  9. watched them play Auburn and they are not a very big team more on the small side. However they play hard and seem to be scrappy bunch. Play smart from what I could see, don't make unforced turnovers and don't take bad shots.

I watched a video on youtube where they played Auburn and yes they are a little on the smal side Auburn attacked the basket a lot on them and was able to draw a few fouls like that. They do like to drive and kick outside to a open shooter as well. That seems to be there shall we say bread and butter play, they do that a lot.

    Here's the video

  10. Havent been able to find much reading about PM, anyone know any details about this team?

I guess I will post a reply since it appears everyone else is to busy mourning the lost of their beloved SWD to discuss Hurley playing in the state quarterfinals this weekend.

I watched some video from the region c semifinals on youtube where Parry played Auburn and I was not really that impressed. Auburn was attacking the basket at will, something that Hurley can do quiet well. From what I have seen in that video I would say Hurley should win by at around 10.

  11. Ok I guess I need to break down my post piece by piece and explain myself and my comments a little more clearer.

    First of all I said...

"I would seriously say it would be hard for any school in the state of Virginia to come into Hurley and be able to come out of there with a win."

Ok what I mean is on the Group A D1 level of play in the state of Virginia, I believe that any team would have a hard time with the Rebels if they played at Hurley. I also believe that the Rebels would stand a excellent chance at winning any of these games.

Now the statement below is completely true and anyone who has seen Hurley play at Hurley knows this is true. Hurley does play at a higher level at home. 100% fact!!!

"First of all those boys just play at a completly higher level at Hurley. Then the fact that you have the REBEL NATION filling the bleachers, lining the walls, standing at both doorways, and some sitting in the floors."

Now as far as your comments about people talking about how people are intimidated to play at Hurley I do not recall myself or anyone else saying that. Also how you throw football into this when you was talking about the cliff is beyond me!!

As far as your comments about the Mountaineer and you talking the pics for the Mountaineer if that is true I believe you need to tell them to start giving you proper credit Lance because I have only seen your name on one picture this basketball season. Most of the time it's either Mike Stiltner or Sam Bartley.

Last I would just like to say that I cannot understand why so many people from this area likes to hate on Hurley. I would be happy to see a team from our area having success but it seems every message board I go to people keep wanting to hate on Hurley. You guys here however aren't the worse that award go to the jerks over on the virginiapreps.com board. One certain guy over there tend to bad mouth Hurley every few days.

  12. I highly doubt it, I would seriously say it would be hard for any school in the state of Virginia to come into Hurley and be able to come out of there witha win. First of all those boys just play at a completly higher level at Hurley. Then the fact that you have the REBEL NATION filling the bleachers, lining the walls, standing at both doorways, and some sitting in the floors. We pack that place so full it's a wonder if we don't get in trouble with the fire marshall for being over the capacity. They are no fans that can compare to the Rebel fans, I put them up against any fans in the state, and the Rebels have 3 more games at home this year one against Council one against Mountain Mission and then a regional playoff game and if they can win all 3 of those games they will extend that streak up to 25 straight games.
