What the hell are you talking about? AWOL? I'm here every day

Where did I say only coaches can post? Uh nowhere

I'm just tired of excuses...we aren't good PERIOD

When wingman posted his experience and credentials and asked you to do the same, you wouldn't respond and pretty much left the conversation at that point. And everytime somebody has a different opinion than yours, your response is "why don't you coach" or something to that effect. So by that response, I figured you prefer only coaches should be posting here. That is only coaches, and you of course. And you're right, we're not that good.  But if somebody thinks there are things that this same group of kids can do, and be led to do, to make them better, then he's not wrong either.

I have already recruited Giles a punter, kicker, wingback, tailback linebacker, long snapper and kick returner. What else do you want LMAO 😂

I guess you're going to have to ask hokieboy his credentials again. According to him, only coaches should be allowed to post opinions on this board. So we need to see his resume. Last time you asked, he went AWOL pretty quick

Undefeated Grayson County travels to Giles as well as George Wythe and Galax is this Friday. Thoughts on these games.

My take is if you can stop the Gillespie kid from Grayson is the key that makes their offense go. As for GW and Galax will GW have their backup QB back? If not they will be using their third string QB.

Never know what Giles team might show up. Some nights they want to play, some nights they don't. But it usually doesn't take long to figure it out.

Blacksburg is an enigma. They have more resources than any other school division on this end of the state not found in Roanoke. Dave Crist was there for 137 years. The first few decades were great. The last decade under Crist was laughable.

I’m not convinced they knew what they were getting when they hired Wells and the last two hires were borderline criminal.

When Wells left, Blacksburg hired a coach with a career 5-35 record in 4 seasons as a head coach. I’m not sure they improved by hiring Leonard.

I don’t think Blacksburg cares about football.

Don't underestimate Leonard. He came in as defensive coordinator at Glenvar right before they turned that program around and started being a yearly powerhouse. Then he went to Christiansburg as defensive coordinator. Christiansburg's program was down for quite awhile at that time. Once he got there, they turned that program around and have been very tough the last 4 or 5 years. Participation numbers fell off big time at Blacksburg the last couple years. If Leonard can get those numbers up are get the right players to start playing football again, he might be okay. Time will tell

Look, those teams that moved their games to Thursday were ahead of the curve.  Proactive AD’s and staff made the right call.

Just assuming some of those games were homecoming and all festivities included. Most were probably waiting and hoping for the best, instead of having to change everything

    Grayson County 29 Covington 16

Little surprised by the result of this one. Expected Grayson to win by way more

Somebody on the VA Preps board from that area stated that Covington is probably the best 0-4 team in the state. Personally,  Don't know enough about them or who they've played to say. Just read that though

Strangerdanger and 1wing, you guys need to take a breather men.  Best wishes to the Spartans on the rest of the season.

This thread had pretty much died down and ran it's course, til yesterday Bandana Head decided to stir it all up again. Is he beyond taking a breather?

Just to be clear, two Giles guy say that Giles talent is the same.  Hasn't changed a bit and the same it was 10 years ago, and the only issue at Giles is coaching.  That's your argument, and your argument is one held by maybe 1 in 10 people at best.  Keep that delusion alive.  You two are brilliant.

Pull up one quote of anybody saying Giles talent level is the same this year as it was 10 years ago. I'll wait, and wait, and wait.

Keeping it classy as always.  Well done.

Let's see if I understand this. You can poke fun at posters. You can call posters names. You can blast opinions that differ from yours. You can ??? posters ideas, views, and intellect. You can throw jabs here and there. But if anybody dare do any of that towards you, well, they're just not very classy. Got it. Take a good look in the mirror buddy.

And our passing game is non existent no matter who throws it

Our line can not pass block, period. No matter who has tried to pass, they have had no time whatsoever. Had to hurry, try to throw on the run, or tuck and run with no where to go.

Not sure if this is intended to be "doxing" or not but if it is, I suggest you read the terms of service you agreed to when joining the board.

Keep it classy and keep personal BS like calling people out by name off the Board. I don't have the authority to ban you but I know who does and I'm sure he won't hesitate. Childish and quite cowardly to call someone out by name while hiding behind a screenname!!!

You didn't get the joke. Maybe you're not old enough. I don't know who the guy is, and would never call out anybody by name on this board or any other.

Is it not possible that a coach nearing retirement could be burned out? Not adapting to the game? Not putting forth the 365 days a year effort as he did when he was younger and more hungry? To think that's not possible makes you ...not smart.

Watch it 23 man. He might bring the hammer on you. He can't repost one single quote of anybody saying the talent level is at or above what it's always been. But just implies that is what is being debated here. And it's not. Participation is down, so naturally talent is down. But it's like that just about every school in the area. So maybe, just maybe there's other factors in play. We should all be able to give our opinions. Period.

  13. 6 minutes ago, BandanaVTDavis4321 said:

Your argument. Giles talent level is the same as 10 years ago and the problem is the coaches. The coach was once solid,, but now is not good. That makes you.........not smart. Everything that has followed has been meaningless babble and you sir, are soon to get the hammer.

Let's go Brandon. Somebody has different opinions than yours, bring the hammer to silence them . You going to report me to the DOJ? You going to get the FBI to raid my home and take my PC and cell phone? You going to report me to The Big Guy cause I called you Cliff Clavin? What a joke you are

Once again, another personal emotion filled insult where you simply don't say anything. That means you have lost the argument. You actually never had one to start with.

Wrong Cliff. Haven't lost anything. 23 man posts stats, numbers, facts and history, but you say he only posts off emotions. Appears to me you are the one posting on emotion. Explain this one thing, and try to do it with no word salad, and less than 500 words. Why, under Ragsdale, was there never a 3,4,5 year low talent cycle? Playing in bigger divisions, bigger better districts, far tougher schedules? I'm sure this will be good.

  15. 22 minutes ago, BandanaVTDavis4321 said:

All I here from you two lugnuts are emotion.  You give ZERO reasons as to how the numbers you give ARE what they ARE, or the WHY behind the numbers.  That's the part that you two don't seem to get through those thick emotional skulls.  I can assure you, if Giles were go 10-0 next year, Williams would be the greatest Coach in the world again and he would all of a sudden in your minds, "be refocused for 2023."  You two basically don't know what you are talking about and everytime you post, you make arses of yourselves.  99% of reasonable people on this board over the years know and understand (and have stated it) that Giles has a talent problem compared to where we were.  It's absolutely noticeable.  You can only coach a 180 lb left guard so much.  You can only coach a 135 pound running back and safety so much.  That guard or safety could be incredible also, but when he goes against the 230 lb Galax defensive tackle, he's not going to win, or when the 140lb safety goes to tackle the 200 lb plus Galax running back, he will get that tackle some, but sooner or later by the 2nd half, he's not.

Our line has been noticeably SMALL the past 6 or so years.  I know it's a stretch for you two, because you would actually have to THINK back 10 years, (not easy for many in 2022 because EMOTION trumps any rational thought) but if you are able to do it, compare the differences in size from those teams and now.  Forget about looking at the starters, just look at the team photos.  I know this hurts because if you can "feel"<-----your driving force that Giles has a coaching problem, then that's a "simple one person problem" and it sets better with you emotionally.  If Giles has a talent problem, then that's a whole other ballgame.  You know that it's not a one person fix and that it's a deeper and more complicated thing to fix, and that bothers you because you aren't in as much control emotionally anymore.  Richlands has gone through the same thing the past 5 or so years and their fans are now realizing it.  They are even finally admitting on this board that the talent simply is not what it once was.  These talent cycles happen.  It's a real thing whether you want to admit it or not (and you don't.)  You are giving concrete numbers (which are good numbers) but you aren't giving the accurate meaning as to the WHY those numbers are that way.

I know you think you're the "Cliff Clavin" of this board, and you think you know everything about everything,  but coming on here and spreading your Kamala Harris word salad, "the talent level at Giles is down because there's a down cycle in talent at Giles,  doesn't impress most of us.  . You believe what you want to believe, I'll believe what I see.

I guess stats and facts aren't your thing either....

One thing you need to figure in when trying to explain things to people with "hokie", and "VT", in their user names, is they have been groomed over time to believing losing to who you're supposed to lose to, beating most of the teams your supposed to beat, and losing 1 or 2 games you should of won easily, is a perfectly fine and normal year. No need for concern. Everythings fine. Oh yeah, and questionable coaching decisions can be blamed on the wind. Don't really matter that it wasn't a windy day. Facts and stats don't matter.

You wanna coach next game? Let's see how that goes

Wasn't dumb IMO but wouldn't have mattered anyway....they didn't wanna be there and what happens when that happens is exactly what happened....we got spanked by a team that had lost 16 straight before today....totally pathetic

Maybe you should coach. Your "we can't win this game" attitude is simply inspiring. And I repeat myself, Dum Dum
