  1. If they get Fuente they will have landed one heck of a coach and VT will have him replaced by the end of the next week with a smooth transaction. There will be no fan determination on who will coach at Tech and no rock being painted with Virginia Browns lol
  2. I hope were loud enough that the sound will be physically felt. Ground shaking loud is what im looking for! In just over 24 hours we will see what should be one heck of a game! GO BEARS!!!
  3. I will agree with the social media aspect on this. I have worked just outside of Knoxville for near 5 years and the media down here and the social media of the fan base down here truly dictates what UT does. I have never seen a fan base this crazy! UTs mess this season can become a 30 for 30 just because of the social media aspect.
  4. I can kind of agree with ya there too. their is many variables that stats don't measure.
  5. The coast is known as 7 Cities. I think it includes Richmond area in it, but youre exactly right NOVA and the coast decides Virginia's elections and everything that matters.
  6. It is like we don't exist down here. What is so special about the rest of VA anyways? Despite the 7 cities, the rest of VA is just like us. Little towns full of hard working people. Ive traveled all over VA and like I said despite the 7 cities VA is very rural.
  7. So in a 10 year period Alabama done what UT has in less than 2 weeks. I do agree that all schools hit rough patches but DANG this has be horrid! I have never witnessed 7 different coaches being talked to and turning down a "Top Tier" program. With how all of this has went down UT will be lucky to survive. This could be the start of a 10 year subpar UT football span. Going winless in the SEC, not being able to land a coach with an above .500 record, firing of the AD, former coach being tied to rumors of sabotage of said AD. its bad, real bad.
  8. I will agree with this statement. James is more versatile. He has more than proven that. He can play any position asked. Owens is faster and has put up more yards this post season than James and to me that makes him the better back. I may be wrong but if a young man has more yards on less attempts then he is better at that position. James is our best overall athlete and that is without question. That is why he is being recruited so heavily, but IMO Owens is a better back. James is just as capable of breaking off big runs (which he does in most games) but the stats don't lie.
  9. Even if Fuente leaves I know for a fact that VT wont go through 7 coaching choices and make it into a circus like UT has. Fuente is a solid coach and doing great and I can see bigger schools trying to pull him away (and may even succeed in doing so) but our administration wouldn't allow Frank Beamer to sabotage Babcock in a search for a new coach because he wants to be AD. UT has quickly became a HUGE mess that no coach with a record above .500 wants to touch. Bama wasn't this bad before hiring Saban and Tech did an amazingly smooth job transitioning coaches after loosing Beamer to retirement. Even UT fans have to admit, this is a disaster.
  10. This could be as bad as the death penalty at SMU in the 80s. Now reports are coming out that Fulmer has been sabotaging Currie. Apparently John Currie was the one who fired Fulmer in 08. http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaafb/former-vols-coach-allegedly-sabotaging-coaching-search-in-hopes-of-becoming-ad/ar-BBG15Gi?ocid=iehp This is a real life soap opera unfolding before our eyes. I haven't seen this many sad people at work in my entire career here. I hear so many VT jokes and how we aren't a real football program like UT. This just makes me so warm and fuzzy inside.
  11. Being a Virginia Tech fan working just outside of Knoxville this is the best Christmas Gift EVER!!!!!!!! UT football has completely fell apart and I love it. All the Knoxville Vol fans I work with are dying wanting to know what is going on. I know what is going on, UT Football is the biggest dumpster fire in the country! I love it
  12. Shoot yeah! Bring them noise makers!!!! That is awesome.
  13. Again my point is proven. As I've stated before this team is playing as a full unit and the fact is James is our most well rounded athlete but it has been shown in stats that he is not our entire team. A good example of one kid being the entire team in my opinion would be Heath Miller at Honaker. He was the qb and linebacker that beat Powell Valley single handed in the playoffs. But this year's union team is playing as an 11 man unit with a d1 talent that is NOT the entire team.
  14. I think u may want to look at the numbers. Owens has more rushing yards this post season and qualls has more ints this post season. If u read the whole post James brings a high level at all the points as to where the other young men may be better at one or two things but not near as rounded. Just saying by the numbers, the stats show they are better at one to two things. Owens is faster and has more yards than James which makes him the better back. qualls has more picks and passes defended which makes him right there with James as a db. Qualls may not be as good but he isn't far behind James. Point blank. Our backfield has a kid that is faster than James with more yards this post season and another db that has more picks this post season and maybe even this season. That tells me that Owens is the better running back and Qualls is right behind James as a Dd. hints the reason James is being recruited as a tightend and not a Db or running back
  15. I tell ya what I would like to see for 2A. Each region has a nice field that can be played on so why don't we rotate every 4 years? Region D could use UVA Wise, C could keep Salem if they so choose to, Im sure one of the colleges in A and B would rent out there fields for VHSL playoffs. Either that or go back to power points host all the way through.
  16. Good to have ya on here with us! Im glad you're enjoying what you've read so far. I personally want to say this, Yall have built a very nice program in a short time and that is awesome. I know the feeling of being the program that others are gunning for. Its an amazing feeling. As for Saturday, Bullitt Park will be an experience yall should never forget. Its a loud and proud place full of supportive people that truly love and care for the young men on the field. We hold so much community spirit and pride but are respectful and hospitable. Hope to see ya at Bullitt Park Saturday!
  17. This article proves that Union is more than just James. I guess it must me hard to on an island thinking that Union only has 1 good player when literally everybody else knows that Union has a monster backfield made up of different young men who can and has made more plays than Mitchell. Prime example, Marion game. Union put up 49 points in which 0 were scored by Mitchell. Im proud as can be of James. Not many young men would have been willing to sacrifice their position just to help the team. James not only sacrificed being a fulltime wide out/tight end to be a playmaker in the backfield, but he done it knowing that it could hurt his recruiting. Don't get me wrong, James is still going D1 at a wide out/Tight end, but he was not able to pad those position specific stats this season due to injury. Instead, James stepped up as a team player and has lead the Bears to an undefeated number 1 seed team that every single coach that has faced them fears. No couch out there that has stepped on the turf against Union would say that the Bears are a one man show that can't win without that one man. IMO, Owens is by far a better back than James. Qualls is right there at James' level on as a defensive back. and Zirkel is tougher than James between the tackles. With that said, James has the magic touch that makes him special. Hes not the fastest. He cant jump the highest. Hes not the shiftiest. Hes not the strongest. But he is head and shoulders above most because he embodies all of these attributes at a high level. Those that can out jump him may not be able to catch as good as him, or may not be as strong as him. Those who are stronger may not be able to out run him or be as football smart as him. those who are better in coverage on defense may not be able to out jump him or out catch him. James brings a high level, maybe not the highest but high level of everything it takes to be a good ball player. Now you combine James' high level of everything mixed with the other young men's high level in specific areas and you have an offense that cant be stopped. James makes the other player better. He brings competitiveness and drive that all the other players feed off of. You can hate on the bears all you want but I promise you that both Big Stone Gap and Appalachia are proud as can be of James and the Bears. Not many small towns like we have in our area can boast like region d on the number of athletes we have sent on to the next level. Not many 2A schools can brag about the athletes they have like region d can. We have put people in the pros out of 700 student schools multiple times and placed numerous young men and women into college level sports. Im proud to say that these old dirty abandoned forgotten coalfield towns can make some of the best well rounded athletes in Virginia.
  18. I pull for every single Region D team except J I Burton. Well I guess I can pull for Burton but I would have to really think about it first. Im kidding, to me and what I gather about most of southwest Virginia, we pull for our young men no matter what team it is. As long as the forgotten about coal fields are represented that team will have my support.
  19. Simple question. Have you even seen the bears offense? We run more than just James. Heck Owens has more post season yards than Mitchell. Zirkle gets plenty of touches up the middle too. the more you type on here the more im certain you have only watched the Bears play once and that was against what ever team you pull for. Im assuming the walmart warriors lol
  20. That's what im hopping for. I like the trap against nose guards and tight line formations because of blocking schemes being easier. I just hope we can contain on the outside blocks, that to me is where we have struggled the most in the post season. I 100% agree with you about line blocking and trapping a 5 man front. The only dangerous part with a 5 man front is trying the outside without containing the edge.
  21. That 5:2 front is what has me concerned the most. We are going to have to seal the edge when in the T formation. Last couple of weeks we have missed some key blocks on the edge that led to 3 yard gains that could have been 10 yard gains. Our wideouts and pull blockers will have to play good mistake free football. I think in my humble opinion, that trap plays off the center and guards will be our best bet. I would hit Zirkle up the open gap as much as possible if I were play calling. Not going to lie, I am actually concerned this week. you can look back on my posts and I have never doubted my bears but this game is giving me butterflies
  22. if every team in region d wants to bring a noise maker and a crowd by all means come on down. I'd love to pack Bullit Park with reps from everywhere to support the bears with loud noise makers!
  23. Then I apologize for my earlier comment. That is on me and I am sorry.
  24. if they come at us in a 5:2 were going to have a dog fight on our hands.
