  1. Anyone have information on assistants, or is it a one man coaching team?
  2. Did the TCSB conduct their meeting this week, or is it next week? Would like to have information on the RHS assistant football coaches. Has anyone heard anything official?
  3. Not to be in disagreement, but us old RHS fans are not through with this thread yet. Come on now, we haven't had to chance to voice our opinion on the assistant coaches, or what we think they will do to help the HC. At least give us until after the beginning of 7 on 7's to try to swallow what TCSB may come up with as to the assistants.
  4. Does anyone, anywhere, have any insside information on the assistants?
  5. Hope this happens. Won't be long til the 7 on 7's takes place. the projected players need to be in the weight room, hope that's happeneinng now rather than later.
  6. Haven't heard of any and probably won't until basketball is over since Davis is busy coaching the BB team. Hope to hear something next month for sure.
  7. Totally agree with this. Now the other part falls on the fans and the parents. Don't expect a miracle, Davis should not be expected to turn the program around next year or even two years. Culture building takes time, and the parents and fans must buy into the understanding that the least improvement from last year is a step in the right direction. Parents, back off and let the coach be the coach, that means being realistic about you childs talent level. Fans, back off and stop the critisism everytime you feel the coach isn't doing things your way. It takes a village to raise a child and it will take the RHS community to turn this program around. Support the coach, even if you feel that you could do a better job, afterall, you didn't throw your hat into the ring when the position was open. We all need to come together and give this thing time. In three or four years, if we're still where we are now, then Kattie bar the door, but as for now, PATIENCE AND SUPPORT is what's needed.
  8. Richlands has never been good at Basketball, win a few, lose a few. It's crazy in SWD Richlands beats Graham, Tazewell beats Richlands, then Graham beats Tazewell. Lebanon has had quite a few good basketball teams with some good talent over the years. I think Davis is a better softball and football coach than a Basketball coach, but the talent in SWD when it comes to basketball is not up to par with other areas, never was and probably never will be.
  9. Anyone know if weight lifting has began. One would think with the new HC the first thing would be to get every potential participant into the weight roon as soon as possible. I know the weather is terrible, but does anyone have any word on assistants?
  10. I personally don't see Dennis leaving Graham, but I've been wrong many times in my 70 years if life. I would like to see him back at Richlands because I think his defensive coaching skills played a big part in the good teams that Mance had while he was HC. Offense is fun to watch, but as the saying goes, defense wins championships. Come to Richlands or stay at Graham, eitherr way, I wish him the best in his retirement.
  11. Anyone hearing any news or speculation on the assistant coaches for the Blues? Tic-toc-tic-toc
  12. Not sure and maybe the Union guys can answer, but I think Union has enough assistants and backpacks for two assistants OC & DC coaches. Lol
  13. I think everyone hopes the Blues improve over last years dismal record, but reality is that it will take at least a couple of years to get even close to the top. Talent dictates success in SWD and the talent is in the school, but getting them to come out and play will be the tricky thing. Buddy Ball, and Daddy Ball, not to mention the failed leadership that wrecked the feeder program will be hard to overcome. Students who are good enough to play don't want to just be on the practice team, and that's what has happened the past few years. Good athletes have came out and worked their butts off only to be overlooked. I've personally talked to a few and when I ask why they quit the team or wasn't playing the answer I got was ligit: "Who wants to be a proctice dummy for someone who isn't as talented." That is what's been going on, so the talent said to heck with it and either transferred or just decided not to compete in a loosing situation. There has been good talent left behind the last three years because of who they were, not how good they were, and this has to stop if the Blues are going to be successful, and I think this will happen, but could take a while. Hope HC Davis gets some good assistants who will allow talent to play, not social status, or family connections. Play the most talented, no matter who they are, let them play.
  14. Guys, I'm hearing some good news about assistants and if what I'm hearing is true, HC Davis will have a good group with him, and some new players transfering in. Not able to say a lot seeing it's not official, but if it works out, I think the Blues will be a suprisingly good team next year. Hope everyone has a great New Year and can't wait to see if all the talk that's going around is true. Looking forward to a great year.
  15. Want to wish everyone who participates on this board a very wonderful and blessed Christmas. Hope everyone has a happy New Year and enjoys time with your family and friends. May God Bless us One and All and next year be a brighter and exciting year for each team we support.
  16. Thanks for your input. I think that's the way it works and hopefully they will get this done sooner than later.
  17. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the school board has the final approval on all assistants, and I do understand the reason for that, but that is correct is it not?
  18. I agree with the fact about the central office, after all, in any position I've ever worked there is always someone higher up to answer to. The point I failed to make is that in this county, we have members of the school board, not central office, that try to rule the coaches. Enough from me on this topic. The OC and DC will be an important assignment, and I can't wait to see who HC Davis has in mind for those positions. As stated in a previous post, the oportunity for improvement is high considering the 0-10 season we just went through.
  19. So from what you have stated, every coach that coaches any sport in any school in Tazewell County is simply a yes man or yes woman. Wow, that's a lot of coaches for the school board to keep track of. How do they pull this feat off? Have they got a secret committee that no one knows about execpt every coach in the county sworn to secrecy? Which school is discussed the most during their meetings? I know I'm funning with you, and it is a bad situation with the school board trying to run everything, but it doesn't seem logical to me if every coach is a yes person. I just don't understand how the school board can control that. Please explain the procedure for pulling this off in great detail so we can all watch for it. Looking forward to your explaination.
  20. I've been hearing there is one other Tazewell County School which will be loosing their football coach, anyone else hearing anything? Would rather not mention the school for the fact that some people just start rumors for the act of starting rumors. LOL
  21. Exactly why I posted early on this thread that a clean house was needed and a coach from outside the area needed to be hired, but I disagree with you on Davis bring a yes man, I think he has already proved he plays talent from his coaching in other sports. The main thing I see is he has to have assistants and supporters who are not yes men to the TCSB members who want to be involved. Let the guy coach next year and if it proves he is that yes man doing lip service for the higher ups it will show quickly. As far as the parade comment, you're in the wrong town, Tazewell is the town that has all the parades. LOL!!!
  22. My, my, my, how times have changed. A few years back everyone was dumping on Mance about the transfers, but now it seems Mance was ahead of his time, because tranfers seem normal and acceptable. I can see both pros and cons about transfers, but in todays time transferring from one school to another is no big deal especially if it works out to the good of the player. If HC Davis surrounds himself with good assistants he will be successful. The HC is like a president and has to have the final say. The assistants are like cabinet members and can always have discussions with the HC about changes, or recomendations, but in the end the HC has the final say. What we've seen the past couple of years is assistants changing the game plan in the middle of a game without the HC's approval, causing nothing but chaos and confusion, with players not knowing which play to run. I think Davis has been involved long enough in coaching that he understands how to delagate but still remain in control. I wish him the best in choosing assistants that will get involved but remain loyal to him in the HC position.
  23. Well, now we can continue this thread by asking questions, or giving opinions about the new assistants under the New Head Coach. We can probably reach above a thousand post befor we're through. Let's go for it.
  24. That has been part of the problem. assistant coaches not buying into the HC experience and trying to go their own way, as if to say, "I'll show everyone I am better than the HC." Doesn't work that way. Tarter knows football, but some of those around him thought they knew more, so it was a mess. Just my opinion, with a little bit of insider information.
  25. Evidently you have good observation talent.
