Yep, it happened a couple of years ago...now known as Twin Valley High School. They have a football program, if you want to call it that...they went 0-10 this past season scoring about one TD/game and giving up about 40 pts/game...they do play a lot of "homecoming games" though! LOL
Thank you all for visiting SWVA Football.com and the message board this season...the site has had over 800,000 hits since August 27th!!! And, also, a BIG thanks goes out to Lance and MagicMan for their help with the message board and chat room...it has been an unbelievable addition to the SWVAF.com online community!!!!!
You guys have to admit though that the BDT's coverage has gotten somewhat better over the last couple of seasons...at least with giving write-ups/reports of games. As for WVVA, well, I think you guys have said it all!
The original term "Dog Soldier" was used in describing the Native American warriors who fought so fiercely. The term has often been confused with the African-American soldiers who were known as "Buffalo Soldiers". The term has progressed through history and is now a reference to any soldier who will battle to the death.
(That's my best Cliff Claven imitation...you remember him, the mailman from Cheers)
The VHSL requires so much practice time for each sport before they are allowed to participate in a regular season game. I wouldn't expect Graham to play a game before Christmas break.
The Dog Soldiers were a warrior society of Native Americans (Cheyenne Tribe) and were renowned for their ferocious fighting ability in attack or defence.
No need to apologize! This one falls into the category "$hit happens"...not your fault! Thanks for the hard work you guys do!
Come on Jimmy, go ahead and tell me how you believe Grundy is going to clean Graham's clock Friday night...I dare you...be careful though the Gods of Woofing are listening!
Just kidding with you man...I agree going to be a GREAT game!
I wouldn't want to force Grundy to sit in those crappy visitors bleachers at Ernie Hicks Stadium! As for the field, they might as well play at Tazewell!
Basketball is discussed on this board but only AFTER football season is over...that would be sometime around the middle of December this year!
This is where you will find the numbers they used for reclassification for 2003-04 and 2004-05:
The bare spot at midfield was caused by painting the football there back in August...the paint killed the grass, not the playing of football games. Anyway, looking at the forecast for the rest of the week, the fields are going to be muddy where ever the games are played!
Now I see where you are taking this...you don't want the kids from Appy coming to Powell Valley! Why didn't you just say that in the beginning instead of taking us around the world to get there?
Schools should be consolidated when their numbers drop to a point that it is not feasible to continue operating that school. I know for a fact Pocahontas will be closed in a matter of years and those students will be sent to Graham and Tazewell. But Graham won't be known as the Indians and Tazewell won't be wearing Orange and Black as you suggest.
If its going to save some of my tax dollars to close a school and make the system that much more efficient, then I'm all for it.
