One of their top recruits out of Charlotte, was caught breaking into his high school and stealing computers this weekend. Not a very good weekend for the Hokies. I think the kid's name is Rod Counsel, defensive back out of West Charlotte High. I'll try and find the story to post.

I just heard that Joe Gibbs signed to coach the skins. I used to like the skins when I was in Virginia, but being in Charlotte I root for the Panthers. Joe Gibbs is my all time fav.......

I've heard, Dave Rider ( Grandfather of Jason Witten, TE for the Dallas Cowboys ) or Tommy Keene. That's the names I've heard.

I was born in Roanoke, Va, with family in Richlands. I lived in Roanoke for 12 years, moved to Richlands for my middle school and High School years. During that time I was dying to get out of the area, because without sports there was really nothing in the area for entertainment. I went to college in Florida and now live in Charlotte. ( Sorry for the history of my life there ) But, I said all of that to say this, I was dying to get out then, but I'm dying to get back to the slower paced atmosphere, the not so cut throat business of the larger cities, and a safe learning environment for my two sons. I would also love to see my boys suit up in a Richlands football uniform some day. Anyway, it's not always the big business and things you can do that makes a great place to live. I think it's just what you make it, and you can make what you want. Sorry for the ramble !!!!

I've been out of the area for some time now, but I thought I heard someone saying over the holidays that these two schools combined to make one High School. Is this true? What's the name and do they have a football program? Just wondering.....thanks.

Question, Does WVVA still do a so-called Friday Football Extra on friday nights after the region football games? I know when I lived there, they used to air one. They also used to do a game of the week, and show it on saturdays. Do they still do that at all?

I don't think there are anymore Leak's coming through the system. Chris has really impressed me at Florida. I figured he would sit this year, but he's proved me wrong.

I didn't answer one of your questions....They are playing this weekend for 4 straight state championships. But, to be totally honest with you, I'd rather watch a good old smash mouth southwest virginia game anyday !!!!

They are a AAAA school. They are on a current win streak of 61 games. In the Charlotte Observer today, they have a little article saying that next year there could be a matchup with Independence and De La Salle out of Concord, Cali. They are ranked #1 and #2 in the nation with Tony Bianco's national ranking. De La Salle has a 150 game win streak. NOW, that's impressive.

I see they have Independence High School in Charlotte ranked #69 in the nation. I live in Charlotte now, transplant from Richlands. I went to watch them last year with Chris Leak at QB, those guys are machines.........

Has anyone heard anything about where Bradshaw may go next year to play ball? I think I heard a while back he visited UT, I saw on VT board they are recruiting him as a corner. Has he visited any other schools?

I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum for keeping me up to date with all the teams in Southwest Va. I live in Charlotte now. As you could imagine I don't get to see any games in Virginia, unless I'm back home and there happens to be a home game going on. Thanks again !!!
