I heard from somebody who is a very reliable source that a recently resigned HC was selected for Castlewood job. Recent as in past 4-5 years. Wise Co guy. Not saying a name don’t wanna distribute bad information if my guy is incorrect. But hasn’t done me wrong yet.
4 I think. One was an interception on a hail mary at the end of the half. The other three were fumbles and very costly.
5 - four lost fumbles and the interception. GC put the ball on the ground on several other occasions that they were able to recover. No other way to say it, it was just plain ugly.
I agree I watched Floyd beat Patrick Henry last Friday in bluefield then watched wise play them today it was 14 0 after one and 31 7 at the half and 4 of those points where foul shots 77 31 was the final I think memory not as good as it was so these two teams would be a great game to see Floyd could have been off a little and wise might have played their best game but after seeing both play once I would put my money on wise by a hair
Not to nitpick but it was 40-7 @ half, 77-33 final. Wise Central actually came out colder than I had seen them early on but go in tempo. I have no horse in the race but a Floyd-Central game would be a great game to witness IMHO.
Listen guys......2 or 3 of those guys are the Falconman and Southbounds of the CMD board. I honestly dont think they even support Battle, just looking to stir up a big pot of s*&t
I beg to differ, most of them making the noise have been on the CMD board for quite some time and are established posters that in the past used to be fairly reasonable. The one JSB fan leading the charge with idiotic posts leaves no question to what his identity happens to be.
Nope, no Falconman or Southbound there - they're the real deal and it's very obvious at that.
And just look at the schedules, not a lot of difference in strength (VHS's is a little tougher, but not by that much). Both teams beat Abingdon and GC and VHS beat a down Tazewell team, a down Chilhowie team, a down Radford team (who almost beat VHS), and lost to Union, who is a good team, but has been a bit up and down this season. And of course TN High would beat either team.
Here is a list in order of the 2012 strength of schedule for Division 2 teams within the state according to opponent's rating up to this point from the VHSL reference website:
1. Gate City
2. Arcadia
3. Glenvar
4. Union
5. Gretna
6. Lee
7. Graham
8. Nelson County
9. Page
10. William Monroe
11. Clarke County
12. Stonewall Jackson
13. Manassas Park
14. Floyd County
15. George Mason
16. Chatham
17. Wilson Memorial
18. Stuarts Draft
19. Amelia County
20. Fort Chiswell
21. Washington & Lee
22. King William
23. Nottoway
24. Bluestone
25. Central (Woodstock)
26. Lebanon
27. James River (Buchanan)
28. Virginia High
29. Goochland
30. Randolph-Henry
31. Luray
32. Windsor
33. Grayson County
34. Essex
35. Dan River
36. East Rockingham
37. Buckingham County
38. Madison County
39. Appomattox
40. Buffalo Gap
41. Nandua
42. John Battle

46. Wise Central
47. Grundy
I'd say Virginia High's schedule is a little stronger myself.
A JI Burton, Union or Clintwood, JS Battle is in the mix. Im gonna say Clintwood, once they get the kinks worked out they will be a tough team to beat. Their D is solid(as always) and the O will start rolling
I agree to a certain point, however the jury is still out on some of those mentioned.
How does it go? "Almost only counts in horseshoes" or something. I've never in my life seen someone brag about how good they supposedly are after getting beat.
You are very correct Rebel1, but be careful because even so that's the case, you may be called an "idiot" as well
Very nice, you post on here about how a D-4 Abingdon "shocked the world" by losing to a D-2 team who finished last season @ 5-6 & lost numerous skilled position players to graduation of that team from last year, telling people on here to "man up" and admit they were wrong? Then you turn around and call me an idiot due to me expressing my opinion? Wow, sounds like you want to be heard but you can't handle the opinions of others - especially when it gives you a reality check.
What do you expect people to say, "Wow, that loss to a team with an enrollment around half your size that finished below .500 was impressive - please accept our apologies!" Messageboards such as this one as well as others aren't set up for you a la Burger King where you can always "have it your way", and that goes for everyone else here as well. If you're going to come on here and start pleading for apologies in the way you have for a loss to a team given the info above you're going to have to "man up" and take some criticism yourself.
...the first time in a long, long time. Where does Grundy play their soccer matches - at the school or elsewhere around town? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Gate City lost 2 of the 3 "tough" games on their schedule last season and went on to win the state championship. Because of being 8-2 in the regular season no one (outside of themselves obviously) gave them any chance in the postseason. If you would look at the schedule from last year and compare it to this year you would notice that it is actually a tougher schedule this season.
Yes they lost a lot to graduation but they're still pretty competitive.
