  1. this game was a heartbreaker, Beavs had it in the bag and let it slip away, im devastated so i can only imagine how the players are feeling, i feeel for them but this loss is squarely on the shoulders of the coaching staff...why is it that with the dominant team they cant pull it together for the BIG win??..ive seen POCA play 2 games this season and you will NEVER convince me that the Dots are a better team, they made the plays they needed to tonite but they were not the better team , the best team in the state lost tonite..Hats off to Poca for doing the unheard of and 3-peating, and if last yrs mud bowl in AAA and A and tonites sludge pit game and lord knows what tomorrows field is gonna be like but if these past 2 yrs arent argument enuff to bring the title games back to Charleston, on TURF and milder climate this team of year, then there isnt an argument for it..all in all it comes down to makign the plays and the Dots made em when they needed em but as a monday morning coach, i have serious questions and reservations bout the way tonites gameplan and play callign unfolded...it was pitiful, but thanks to the Beaver players for an exciting season, all of the Bluefield alumni everywhere is still proud of the Beavers
  2. ok some of you all act like ive attacked a GOD or something, its not exactly the case, i simply was wondering why that the 5 other coaches that have made it to the title game can make it to Parkersburg for the Sunday meeting that our own Freddy Simon cant make it..does his team need soooo much work every minute of every given day?..no it doesnt, hes done a fine job over the years and i am a huge supporter of BHS football and BHS in general, and always will be but when folks start asking questions bout the Beavers and no-one can answer em b/c the BHS coach is 'too busy' to attend meetings with his peers, i think it reflects negatively on the program..im sure the other 5 coaches are just as busy but they do attend, and yes, id vote for some kind of video conferencing system, its badly needed, obviously..and thats all I'LL say bout that
  3. Sources, my only FACTUAL evidence that ALL the other coaches attend is the word of the sports reporter who is/has been there every week, and NO he didnt only speak about coach Simon, he spoke of many others and was adamant that Simon was the only one that didnt attend..i sarcastically told Mr Martin that perhaps he couldnt attend the meeting b/c he was too busy preparing his team, he agreed adn said that could be it but like he said, the WVSSAC requires all head coaches to attend but what can they do?..can they say "if you dont attend the meetings your team cant be in the playoffs" no, they cant. so what can they do?..i agree a championship is more important than news coverage, but whats wrong with being where and doing what you are suppoe to do?
  4. GHS, again i agree with you and on a personal level i figure sandman and i could get along probably quite well, it just gets me fired up to see anyone attacking the BHS program, i hear plenty of it living down here so i tend to take it personal at times, so now we all can get back to normal and stick together and be cordial again..i think EVERYONE has agrred that BDT & WVVA is pretty much a disgrace, so we have found common ground
  5. Parkersburg is far to travel but what about Martinsburg?, Moorefield?, Wheeling? Mt View?..all those places are as far or further for those coaches to attend and as i understood it, Simon was the ONLY coach to not make the meetings, so the distance or too busy to attend doesnt hold water
  6. im speaking the truth as told to me By Mark Martin for WVAH TV 8, he also mentioned that it irks alot of people that have to attend from further away every week but Simon wont attend, and in just my opinion, it kinda shows disrespect to the other coaches for Simon to not show up..Mr Martin also said that he has known Coach Simon for many yrs and really likes him but he just doesnt seem interested in getting the word out to other areas about his team..its a shame b/c living near Poca now, you'd really be suprised how many people know little or nothing about BLFD, not that they should do a feature story every week but i think the opposition would be interested in learning a lil something bout the competition, i know i would
  7. GHS, i agree with you 100% we are all tied together by many things and both the G-Men and the Beavers should be proud of the others accomplishments..i remember maybe 2 or 3 yrs ago, the G-Men came down here to Charleston for a 4 team scrimmage wiht the G-Men, Wyoming East, GW, and Capitol..no-one down here that sat round me had any idea where Graham was from or what they were all about and were basically trashing them as a team that just showed up to get hammered, i filled them in as much as i could on the tradition, location, players, etc etc, and when that scrimmage was over, people were shakign their heads and wondering how that team came down here and basically manhandled every team they went up against..i just walked away smiling in the satisfaction that a BLUEFIELD team put a spanking on the big boys down here..a cpl weeks later, i wasnt smiling as much b/c graham beat Blfd like 63-7 or somethign of that mess, but i supported Graham then and i will still do so, but Sandmans criticism, while valid, was misplaced by attacking the Beavs, like it was their fault what the BDT and WVVA says, so as ive said before..good luck to BOTH teams..
  8. i just had a 15 minute conversation with WVAH TV8's main sportscaster in Charleston due to their lack of coverage about the Beavers on the weekly "Road to Wheeling" news peice....all year long they barely mention Blfd wiht the exception of the Hoover game down here and he informed me that he travels to Parkersburg every Sunday for the coaches meeting and Coach Simon never attends, he hasnt attended for the past 2 seasons or more, often he will send an asst or someone equal to that..he also stated that coaches are required to attend but SSAC cannot force him to attend, so in turn it hurts the team in the coverage area of letting the opponents of the Beavers know a bit bout the history and record of the BHS program...so can anyone tell me why he doesnt attend or whats going on with him?..
  9. Sandman, YOU missed the point, if your big problem is with the news coverage, then attack the BDT, not BHS, they dont run or control the coverage they get, so in fact YOU missed the point and attacked the wrong bunch, when you bad mouth the Beavs, you will get the fire and brimstone coming down on ya....GO BEAVS
  10. you bring up some fine and valid points, and you did it WITHOUT bein a jerk like Sandman, i live outside of Charleston WV now,so i have to TRY to read the BDT online..thats the biggest joke going, im not happy with them or their coverage and i remember after the Graham game a cpl weeks ago it was tuesday before they posted a score and at that time i wasnt a member of these message boards so i had no idea and i had to CALL the BDT to find out who won, when i go to BLFD to visit the parents, i look at the paper and its a joke, the entire thing needs an overhaul, im not doubting that Graham doesnt get fair coverage but trust me the problems dont just lie in the sports section...the entire paper needs to be revamped and start over..good luck to both teams
  11. Sandman, if you dont like the current coverage of the Beavers, you have three options, #1 MOVE, #2 start your own VA newspaper and focus on the G-Men, #3 shut your pie hole...as Beaver fans we always pull for Graham with the exception of the last week in August so stop your bellyachin
  12. Congrats to the Beavers for making it back to Wheeling, it was a great game in horrendous conditions and you all dominated, the game wasnt as close as the score..bad huh?..lol..im an 87 grad of BHS and i now live outside of Charleston, Poca is 5 miles away and i have to say,"please take care of business this year, if Poca wins again, i am going to have to leave this area"..lol, i catch the crapola daily for being from Blfd, although i am very proud, im tired of hearing the Blfd "BILLS", comments and bout not bein able to finish the job..Poca has some great fans and they will throw a saddle on your back and ride you all year long.. so bring the title back to the good guys, where it belongs,,see ya in Wheeling...GO BEAVS...now, id also like to wish good luck to Graham, 2 more wins and the Blfd's can share titles, that would be nearly unheard of in towns the size of both Blfd's and shows a real pool of talent..good luck "just do it"

    Beaver football

hey Buzz, Curtis lived and grew up 1/4 mile from me and ive known him since i was in 4th grade so we went through alot together and i will always consider him one of my closest friends, he was a Blfd Beaver fanatic like most of us and it was so hard to sit at the Beaver/Graham game this yr knowing he lost his life about 10 days before and when we spoke last we were both excited bout this season and the Graham game but he was definitely a huge Beaver fan and a great friend that always kept things interesting, rather you wanted them to be or not..hahahha, btw his stepson is #28 TJ Morris on this years squad and a pretty good player at that, so as far as im concerned, the Beavs are gonna have a lil extra help from above winning it all this year..GO BEAVS!!!
  15. hello everyone, must say im glad to see a site finally devoted to southern WV/VA football..i think the Beavers are gonna be bringing the AA title back home where it belongs this year and on the VA side, i hope Graham does the same..show everyone what the "Bluefield's" football is all about...im an 87 grad of Blfd and a huge fan of the Beavs in all sports and even pull for Graham, except for that last week in Aug...lol, win or lose its been a great year for Blfd football and i just wish my good friend and Beaver fan, the late Curtis (larry) Honaker could be here to enjoy it with me..im sure hes lookin down with a smile so far this season..on a lighter note, i now live outside of Charleston WV and seems as if no-one down here wants to give the Beavs any kinda respect or any kinda chance to win the title this year, all i hear is POCA this, POCA that, POCA 3-peat etc..hope the Beavs take care of business just to shut some of these people down here up..great website and GO BEAVS !!
