  1. UVA, the Telegraph has the right to serve up anything it wants in the bowles of the sports pages. The fact still stands that if Bluefield is 11-1 and playing for the title, we get bombarded with Beaver football, but when Bluefield is 2-8 or 1-9, we still get a heapin' helpin' the of good ole' Beaver gridders. As for runnig back coverage Source, no one besides Notre Dame has put it's offensive backfield on the backs of horses, until Bluefield felt the need to do so. One could only look at that picture and belly laugh at what was passed off as the godlike aura of Beaver Football.(I hope everyone remembers that, Mount View destroyed BLuefield that Friday and went on to participate in the state final game). Bluefield Football fans view it like it's religon. They even have a slogan "WE BELIEVE".
  2. I was going to have some fun with that guy.
  3. I can't stand idly by and not comment on this. A Bluefield Beaver football fan is complaining about the coverage of local sports in the Telegraph? That's like Aqua-Man needing a drink of water! Every Saturday for the vast majority of my thirty one plus years of reading about local football, I have had to sit and read about some obscure backup from Beaver had the most awe inspiring 80 yards and four assisted tackles, that I've got to reach for the vomitory bag. While across town Ahmad Bradshaw, Eddie Neal, Eddie Hall, Leonard Graves, Tony Palmer, Danny Adkins, and countless other good tailbacks, sitting on 200, 300, and more yards, get pushed back to page three. Yes, yes there we go Bluefield gets killed by old Stonewall Jackson or Pulaski or East Bank or Mount View or Capital or Woordow, and gets top billing while the other "unwashed masses that aren't Bluefield High" get regulated to the movie listings page bewteen the TV times and Dear Abbey. Hey pal you're suffering from a case of "you think you're better than you really are". Bluefield is so important that you have yo drag your ass all the way to Wheeling to play a team from outside of Charleston. By the way have nice trip.
  4. I don't know if there are many if any analogies bewteen last years team at Wythville, and Radford this fall. Anyhow its easy to dilute the conversation with what Gate City has failed to do in the last two or three years and with the matter at hand (THIS years game bewteen Gate City & Radford).
  5. Oh yeah, you asked me a question about attending the Bluefield Westside game. How rude of me not to reply in my last post. It was very cold, snowy, windy, my freind G-Man got held up somewhere with heat and DID NOT show up. By the way, how did Gretna look?
  6. Franchise, "LIMEY" not Limmie. You can't even be a good bigot. What the hell is a limmie? (Please G Man don't tell me it has to do with Native American combat).
  7. Please don't take us down the road of a discussion on Native American combat. Please!
  8. It's not a moot point because Graham did beat Grungy in 2002. And yes I saw Liberty-Bedford play in the fall of 2002. Graham DID stand a better chance of defeating Liberty in the semifinal. Don't ever assume that you think you know what the hell I'm basing my assumptions on because you don't.
  9. Aren't you a happy little trooper today. What's the matter won't Martin let you off from work early, so you're playing on the computer on Thanksgiving Wednesday? Grundy plays hard. Grundy came to play. Grundy plays tough. Grund................. hey man, it's WRASLIN' season in Grundy. So please give it a rest about them. Sitting at the stadium last Friday, you made the comment that Grundy is the FOURTH best team in this district. That was and is true. The final margin was 25 points, and remember one thing. EVERYBODY plays their hardest against Graham. Hell we make Beaver look like the Packers every August. So please stop apologizing to Grundy and get on with your road trip on Saturday. If I could get my family out of town I would have gone with you. By the way, you might as well buy a 50/50 ticket down there too, you've financed every other team in this area for twenty years. Might as well include Gretna.
  10. 1:30 p.m. on the 29th. Is anyone anxious about Vic Hall and the Hawks? I must admit it's the anticipation that gets me.
  11. Quite simply stated, it is. Bradshaw, Taylor, Belcher, Remines, Martin, not to list them all to save time, but that is the point. This is the basically the same team that failed to win the region last year.
  12. That is basically the same team that came to to Mitchell in late November 2001 and got "machined" out of town, giving up sixty five (65) points in a state semi.
  13. I know one thing. Every Gretna fan in the world is begging for Grundy to upset, yes, upset Graham. Last year Grundy paved the way for Liberty-Bedford. It was a Greek tragedy for this region to send such a rabble to Bedford for that embarassing display by this region's representative. All Gretna fans everywhere will have out the Vodoo dollies for this one, praying for the "Golden Shower" to come down next Saturday and lay a pisser in the state semi again. Have a nice day.
  14. We can't get the Bluefield paper to shut up about Beaver long enough to even discuss Graham, or anything else for that matter.
  15. The bottom line of the first game was that if Coach Simon would have kept the ball on the ground in the second half, the game would have probably gone out 30-0. Please don't misinterpret me, I am a Graham fan, but Bluefield was just better. If Freddie Simon hands off the headset when Bluefield is on offense this post season, Bluefield will win the state title. If he (Simon) gets involved with play calling, well anything can happen. We as Graham fans watched this scenario play out for years.
  16. More times than they (region I & II fans) would care to admit.
  17. Alright then, why haven't we had the common decency to shut down Pocahontas High School. I have been stating the point that it's a financial cancer for years with the Tazewell County School Board to no avail.
  18. I think we need to establish the purpose here. Is the abjective to yield the largest amount of high quality football (which I think it is), or to anchor ourselves around geographic location.
  19. It just seems to me that the glut of division III & IV teams in region III would warrant the shuffling of teams and or entire districts to properly realocate the volume of teams in each region. With the argument being put forth by Heritage-Lynchburg, Salem & Amherst, it seems that such a move may be warranted in the near future.
  20. No one thinks there will be more teams introduced or reintroduced into region IV division III?
  21. With the elimination of Laurel Park & FC will this have an effect on the district and regional alignments in region III & IV in Virginia.
