  1. UPIKE won tonight 98-93 vs a very good Mountain State Univ. The game was a #1 vs #2 matchup nationally as well as a rematch of the 2011 NAIA National Championship game!

Im also giving you the link to one of the best dunks you'll see for a while! Pikeville's Chris Watson (6'7) goes up on MSU's David Nyarsuk (7'2- former WVU signee)!

  2. Basketball fans in SWVA that are looking for high level basketball without the high ticket prices should check out the University of Pikeville. Less than an hour from Wise and Grundy, Pikeville is the defending NAIA National Champion in men's basketball. Check out some of these videos that highlight the program! UPIKE opens the season Oct. 8th in a scrimmage against the University of Kentucky Pro's. 3. Glad some folks back home were able to watch the game. We had a very special group this year and were able to win it all! No doubt we earned it every step of the way, as we had a pretty tough road to the title. Hopefully the interest in Pikeville Basketball will pick up slightly over the next several years in the SWVA area with Bluefield College coming into the Mid South Conference.

  4. Johnson Co vs Pikeville should be a good game for the title. Both teams have good guard play and a big post (assuming one of JC's best players and starting Center plays, he did not play vs Hurley due to disciplinary reasons and actually stormed out of the gym at halftime lol).

Hurley has played well and as long as they are knocking down shots from outside they shouldnt have much problem getting through the BDD. I believe they are going to need to rebound and defend a little better to make a run at a state title but its still early. Plenty of time to improve!

  5. The two transfers are from Ohio (Cincinnati). They should definitely help. One is a JR and the other a Soph.

The older one played AAU with us this summer and is clicking pretty well with the others. They younger one plays football too and is a corner for CC. He has had his bball limited because of football. Once football is over he will step in and help immediately. Especially on D as he is SUPER quick.

The kid I've heard about was Tyler Lineberry? 6'5 195 lbs Soph. Inside & out threat.

  6. I havent seen Twin Valley but I have watched Phelps play. Phelps is terrible on D. They have an athletic QB that makes plays but their line is not very good either. If TV can put pressure on them and take care of the ball I think they could pull out the win.

  7. Yeah, its pretty bad down here in parts....The Coon Creek area of Pikeville is destroyed. Several other areas are pretty bad as well but none like the Coon Creek/Zebulon section. Its terrible. Several people including much of my gf's family have lost everything they had. Several shelters are open the National Guard is everywhere helping. Its def a mess tho! Hardest rain Ive ever been in personally. Unreal amounts for about 2 1/2 hours Saturday evening.
