  1. UPIKE won tonight 98-93 vs a very good Mountain State Univ. The game was a #1 vs #2 matchup nationally as well as a rematch of the 2011 NAIA National Championship game! http://www.upikebears.com/news/2011/11/16/MBB_1116115749.aspx?path=mbball Im also giving you the link to one of the best dunks you'll see for a while! Pikeville's Chris Watson (6'7) goes up on MSU's David Nyarsuk (7'2- former WVU signee)!

  4. http://www.upikebears.com/news/2011/10/8/MBB_1008114235.aspx?path=mbball UPIKE played a team of NBA players on Saturday night and put on a great show! This years team is looking very good. Hoping to see some new faces in the crowd!
  5. Basketball fans in SWVA that are looking for high level basketball without the high ticket prices should check out the University of Pikeville. Less than an hour from Wise and Grundy, Pikeville is the defending NAIA National Champion in men's basketball. Check out some of these videos that highlight the program! UPIKE opens the season Oct. 8th in a scrimmage against the University of Kentucky Pro's. Visit http://www.upikebears.com or visit "UPIKE Men's Basketball" on Facebook for the latest news and info!
  6. Glad some folks back home were able to watch the game. We had a very special group this year and were able to win it all! No doubt we earned it every step of the way, as we had a pretty tough road to the title. Hopefully the interest in Pikeville Basketball will pick up slightly over the next several years in the SWVA area with Bluefield College coming into the Mid South Conference.

  8. Highlights of the game this past Saturday. Pikeville came in leading the nation in scoring and WVU Tech came in 3rd in the nation in scoring. I know not many people on the board have ties to Pikeville other than the Buchanan Co. and Tazewell Co. (Richlands has a volleyball player at Pikeville), but thought some of you may have ties to WVU Tech and certainly COAL APPRECIATION.
  9. Johnson Co vs Pikeville should be a good game for the title. Both teams have good guard play and a big post (assuming one of JC's best players and starting Center plays, he did not play vs Hurley due to disciplinary reasons and actually stormed out of the gym at halftime lol). Hurley has played well and as long as they are knocking down shots from outside they shouldnt have much problem getting through the BDD. I believe they are going to need to rebound and defend a little better to make a run at a state title but its still early. Plenty of time to improve!
  10. A lot of the Mid South Conference NAIA schools have wrestling programs as well. A lot of wrestlers in the area could step in and contribute to several of these teams.
  11. He was ranked as a Low Major prospect by Brad Estes at the Maximum Exposure event. Hope CC lets his outside game develop as well, as reports have him being able to shoot it decent as well.
  12. The kid I've heard about was Tyler Lineberry? 6'5 195 lbs Soph. Inside & out threat.
  13. Doesnt CC have a Soph. that is pretty good?
  14. There are ZERO high major D1 programs that are "100% clean". I am a UNC fan so it isn't an attempt to just hate on them. Recruiting is so competitive that everybody is breaking rules, some more than others.
  15. That excuse is ridiculous. The ride in that teams complain about is exactly the same ride that Grundy takes to EVERY road game.
