ABINGDON, Va. — Nobody got a hit on Tuesday night at Bradshaw, but the River View Raiders found a way to beat the Liberty Raiders 1-0.
Jacob Muncy, who struck out 19 Liberty batters in the complete-game win, also figured in the game’s only score when he drew a base on balls.
Jamie Mills took his place as a pinch runner and stole second. On the steal, the throw got away from the infield and Mills continued on to home plate.
Muncy, 4-0 as a pitcher this year, gave up four walks. Muncy now has a streak of 13 consecutive no-hit innings, beginning in a game at Mount View on Mar. 30. He is also batting above .500.
For the season, Muncy has a 0.212 ERA, with 33 innings pitched, 64 strikeouts and 11 bases on balls.
The game was River View’s second no-hitter. The Raiders (6-4) also lost last Friday to Wyoming East 1-0 on a no-hitter.
Jacob Purdue took the loss for Liberty despite pitching his second no-hitter of the season. He went six innings with eight strikeouts, three walks, two hit batters and the one unearned run.
Oak Hill might be looking for a school a little bigger than Grundy,
Oak Hill is now AAA in WV and needs to play 6 AAA schools to even be able to be included in the WV Rating Plan, unless they have received a 1 year exemption from the 60% rule.
They currently have scheduled:
5 AAA and 4 AA according to the WV classifiations.
