Hey now, I just put this here because "the 'best of' thread" was turning into a band conversation and those bands are just some that were mentioned...other than Marion, I just threw them in there, they looked pretty good a couple of years ago..lol.

Maybe I should've said best band in SouthwestVirginia or something like that. Sorry about that, but I did put "other" on there.

Best Stadium: Lee High

Best Atmosphere: Gate City/Powell Valley

Best fans: Richlands.

Best field: Va High

Best Band: Richlands/Graham/Lee High...I'd throw J.I. Burton into that mix most of the time too. I just think you have to put Lee, they are always really good and throw in the fact that even when the football team is losing 55-0, you'd never be able to tell it by listening to the band over in the stands.

Best food: Can't remember ever being to a place with bad food.

Hey, if it was up to me, the two districts would've merged. I could careless what the school board and everyone else said. Though, the travel would've just gotten so much worse that I would have to talk with the SWD about some things and think it over pretty hard.

I thought someone said a while back on this board that the SWD was willing to work with Lee concerning travel..and something about Richlands helping us out somehow. Did that message get out to Lee County people, other than me?..lol. If that's true then I certainly would've been all for it, but with the way our school board works I don't know of anything different happening besides dropping to single A which is something I am against and glad the VHSL is.

I thought Marion was one of the Highlands teams(the other being Abingdon) that wanted to go the SWD a while back? Or have they changed their mind recently?

I think the last one I saw had...John Battle, J.J. Kelly, Gate City, Lee High, and Va High. Not a bad district(excluding football), if you ask me, especially in baseball and girls basketball.

However, I like trumpet's idea of moving Powell Valley into the district. Lebanon could go either way (SWD or Highlands), but if either PV(especially PV) or Lebanon joined the district, then I would say it would be a good football district too.

Maybe adding Gate City and possibly Powell Valley could help Lee to get out of the cellar in the district. Yeah, I know..but it's worth a shot

Yep, I agree with you. The Lee High girls basketball team went up there to play them a few years back and Bassett dubbed them "Hyenas from the Hills." LOL....so, yeah...inventive...

Really? Isn't Craig County in the Roanoke area (the county to the north)...figured it would be a much closer.

I can try and help out with Lee High's.

Why would Lee make a big a fuss over this? It would solve most of their travel problems. I personally think it's a good plan for Lee, actually its sort of the way I thought the district should be anyway.

Anyway, if this did pass and Lee made a big deal over it, then I think we all here in Lee should go beat some sense into the school board (should've done that long ago) and anyone else who objects it.

......and around, lets say 30 minutes longer than it would be to Lee High, or about the same from Lee to Carroll Co.

Just thought I'd point something else out. Not only would it be about thirty minutes or so longer from Bluefield to Rock Hill than from Bluefield to Lee High, but it would shorter for Bluefield to go there then would it be for Lee High to play ANY of the Piedmont District teams. I just found that to be intersting.

Anyone know when the all-district teams will be announced? I was wondering about the Highlands, but I figured it would be around the same time as the Southwest.

Unless something has changed, the Region IV track meet should be this Saturday (May 28) at Lee High.

I use LimeWire, and every once in a while Morpheus and KLR. They work just fine, and I havent had any big problems with them. Like bluekick said, anything but Kazaa, however I did like Kazaa Lite Resurrection, it doesnt add all the spyware and adware like Kazaa does, so if you were to use Kazaa use KLR.
