  1. It didn't even look like a normal Lawrence County team... and I wouldn't worry much about people saying the score was ran up... lol i remember my sophmore year a very good Lawrence County team beating us 50-0... I thought the Pioneers looked good against the Bulldogs, what does the rest of Wayne's schedule look like? you wouldnt happen to be the same Pioneer_PA from tristatepreps.com would ya?
  2. I enjoy that "pound it out" execution style of football. Its pretty much the same style my Belfry Pirates play, and over the past few years its the same thing the Lawrence County Bulldogs have played. But that could all be different this year seeing as how the Bulldogs have a new head coach. p.s. i just may be at this game seeing as how belfry has the week off and lawrence county is their next opponent! Good Luck to the Bulldogs and the Pioneers! and Lawrence County did lose to two class "AA" teams last year, the Prestonsburg Blackcats and the Belfry Pirates so don't count Wayne out of being able to compete with them.
  3. I guess we will see if they really are as good as we here when they visit Lawrence County (KY) friday. This game should be one of the best in the area this week!!
  4. Saturday at East Ridge High School. Should be a great event and hopefully will continue for many years to come! 1st game showcases Sheldon Clark vs. Grundy Va. While in game two Haysi, Va. takes on the host school in East Ridge Should set up a pretty good day of week two football with Kentucky teams going up against solid Virginia programs. Anyone going to be attending this event!
  5. Belfry picked up a grand total of 1 player from the Mingo County teams this year... and that was a lineman from Williamson, there were no new transfers (at least football players) from Matewan since David Jones came over for his Junior year last year. BTW Jones has now verbally committed to playing for the University of Kentucky next season, and he had 150 yards and 3 TD's on 5 carries in Belfry's 41-14 Pike County Bowl win over Estill County. According to Matewan High School's web site they only have 19 players this year, that really suprised me as the Tigers usually have a larger team.
  6. Sheldon Clark is class "AA" in Kentucky, they compete in Region 4, District 8 (same as my pirates). They lost alot of key players from last years team, mainly QB Nathan Moore, and probably an even bigger blow to them was their head coach of 20 years, Jim Matney, left for Johnson Central, KY. Shawn Hager is the new head coach there and they won their season opener with Bourbon County 34-7. This years team will be tough, but probably not at the same level as we are used to seeing from those Martin County boys.
  7. Does anyone from the Mingo County area know how the Matewan Tigers look this year?
