  1. oh well - guess that puts it in a neutral gym.
  2. I hope not .... Rv is closer for me, and Lloyd will be in the wrong place. Finals sched. to start @ 4 pm.
  3. yeah, Tigers held on to win both V games. Altizer teed-up both Moore & Goodman.
  4. pretty sure D is at Twin Springs. Lloyd was talking about the long drive he'd have to Salem on Friday night for A/AA wrestling. Format??? hahahahahahahahaha. After last year, man, who knows. I heard either D or IV (I forget which, but I think it was D) is having 4 sites for the opening rounds - girls 1, girls 2, boys 1 & boys 2... so no team could end up hosting a b/g DH.
  5. As for the red lights vs. strobes, here's the scoop. FAA used to require the flashing reds. Then they allowed strobes. Older towers could switch when they were repainted if the owners wished. Strobes are basically LED's, so they last a lot longer than the bulbs (which are enclosed on a red glass ball, kinda like a lantern). If they'll be behind the ridge from 460, it won't be bad unless it's a foggy night or you're ABOVE the towers looking down on them. Thinking about this, is the tower going to be 400 feet tall, or the blades? If the tower is 400 feet, expect the blades to be 300 feet, making it 700 feet high (like the top seat of a ferris wheel). If the blades are 400 feet, the tower will rise about 500 feet above the ground. I assume the light will be at the top of the tower, not the ends of the blades, but I don't know.
  6. Yeah, construction prob. won't lead to local hires, but those guys gotta eat, and drive, so some businesses will get a boost and a few more tax dollars will be made.
  7. Off the top of my head, I know that a bunch won't be back, but can't think of any that have been named yet. Do know that the Pikeville College coach left to be h.c. at Enka HS near Asheville.
  8. I posted it on Carroll County's board. Had a couple of mistakes in the Abingdon stuff 103 - Dakota Vance (G) p. Derek Hay (A), :13 . ppl. said this wasn't Hay - prob. was Le. 140 - John Dotson (G) p. Aaron Wilson (A), 3:03. My typo - Ab. kid was actually Trey Barrett
  9. 11 am start at Riverview. Roads are clear.
  10. update... Coach was promoted from asst. last Jan. The team ran gassers for half-an-hour b4 the 1st kid collapsed around 6 p.m. He was in the hospital "several days". Heat index was 94 at 2:30. Story doesn't say if readings were taken later. http://www.kentucky.com/802/story/670020.html
  11. I had a bad feeling about this right from the get-go. Wonder if it was an honor killing?
  12. saw a comment in another forum somewhere that said something like ... a good attorney can get an indictment on a ham sandwich. Also saw where someone said that the local DA just wants the publicity. But, yeah, there's always more to the story. NC also had a kid die last year, but it happened at home after practice.
  13. word now is both were Asain - male stabbed a female..
  14. great... how many ppl know where the GLC is ????
  15. besides Raleigh, next closest Raiders are JI Burton in Norton & North Cross in Roanoke.
  16. McCraw looked great. Dalton had a broken pinky and is taking a couple of weeks off. I didn't see many day 1 or consol. round matches, but I thought the best match was the 152 quarter where Freshman Tyler McClanahan beat Ky. stud JJ Jude. The score was tied for over half the match. Jude went up on an escape with :15 left, but was called for a technical violation that occured on the "back-side" where no one could see it except the Grundy coaches, the head table, and a few straglers across the way. The other JC boys were sitting at the bottom of the Grundy section (mat 1) and that whole area was up and yelling there at the end. Tyler got a takedown with a few seconds left and was given 2 just before the ref was tapped. Haven't checked in on the Demons yet, but from the state indiv. rankings I saw, state could be fun again this year. Was going to ask Humbert, but he told me he's not HC anymore. Oh.... Tass told me that the pairings for the Duals aren't out yet.
  17. We have 9 in the semis (10 if you count Dakota from the B team) & FC has 6.
  18. added Cave Spring & Coeburn, too. expect 25 teams. throw in some B-teamers and we have a 32-man bracket about full. Weather looks nice... partly cloudy w/ lows about 30, highs around 55.
  19. didn't that burn down a coupla years back ?
  20. basically same ones as last year, plus Hidden Valley & Staunton River have been added.
  21. 112 - Sean Vandyke - 7th (was seeded #1) 119 - Jeremy Hurley - 4th (not seeded). 1st kid that beat him was the #2 seed & eventual champion - advanced thru the consol. brackets with wins over the #1 seed (a forfeit), and the 3, 10 & 12 seeds before losing to the #4 seed. 135 - Ethen Owens - 4th (was seeded 6th). Both losses were to the #3 seed kid from East High in Anchorage, who won the Alaska 4A title last weekend. 140 - Jon Dot - lost to the 3rd & 5th placers. http://www.rtoc.net/tour_results/High%20School%20Championship%20Brackets/high_school_brackets.pdf
  22. He was with Winnipeg in the CFL this season. Don't think he's in the NFL now.
  23. that'll teach me to post to VP before here, huh? ------- Where's the end zone? Raw video of a Broad Run player coming up short on opening drive vs. Amherst Co. Go down-right to Amherst - Div. 4 and click on the guy in the snow. http://www.wsls.com/sls/sports/wrapup
