  1. In much the same way liberals do. I will start with a few and everyone else can feel free to add to the list.

    1. I will now refer to anyone who wishes to ban guns as feminist.

Rationale: I will tell all women that I know that the gun ban crowd thinks that they are incapable of operating a gun effectively because they are, after all, women!

This will hopefully encourage them to begin arguing that "a woman can do anything that a man can do, " and in theory turn against the very people who are wishing to ban guns.

    Please contribute...

So now we can just make things up to support our arguments? You have posted many ignorant things, but this takes the cake.

Also, did we really need another thread about gun control? Could you not just add this nonsense to one of the other ten threads about the topic?

  2. Are they going to allow you to keep what you already have or will it be a possession of assault rifles and high cap magazines is illegal?

I'm all for some of the changes as far as keeping guns out of mental patients hands and i think a background check should be done on all sales private or public...of any kind...you should have to take it to a dealer and let them handle the paperwork for a fee or whatever...I just think that makes more sense....as i said before i know a few people myself who have no business owning a gun and I'd hate to think they could just trade for one and no one even know they had it...so i'm all for some things needing to be changed.

I think banning assault rifles is kinda pointless though....not going to really solve any problems with that.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the executive orders didn't include an assault rifle ban or a ban on high capacity magazines, right? He only proposed legislation that would then have to be passed by the house and senate before it would become law.

As for the executive orders that he did issue and can be seen above in ISOaPBR's post, I don't see any of them that oversteps the bounds of the constitution.

    Please enlighten me, bucfan.

  3. Virginia Tech interviews former Auburn assistant coaches Scot Loeffler and Jeff Grimes

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/hokies-journal/post/virginia-tech-interviews-former-auburn-assistant-coaches-scot-loeffler-and-jeff-grimes/2013/01/14/0cb0a558-5e8a-11e2-90a0-73c8343c6d61_blog.html

Virginia Tech Coach Frank Beamer has yet to officially announce any openings to his offensive coaching staff, but the Hokies hosted two candidates on campus Monday.

Former Auburn offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler and former Auburn offensive line coach Jeff Grimes were in Blacksburg to meet with Beamer about potentially taking the same positions at Virginia Tech, according to two athletic department officials with direct knowledge of the situation.

One person said, however, that neither Loeffler nor Grimes have been hired by the Hokies as of Monday afternoon. Virginia Tech’s search for new offensive coaches has been ongoing since the Hokies’ worst season in 20 years ended last month in the Russell Athletic Bowl.

    More to come…

  4. The officer at Columbine was assigned but not on the grounds at the time. He returned and did engage one of the shooters but was outside the building.

You are right, I was mistaken. I thought he was actually on duty inside the school. However, that would still be a scenario that would likely be unavoidable.

While I don't think having an armed officer in each school is a bad idea, I'm not sure it would be effective in deterring people that already intend to kill many people, usually including themselves. Much more would need to be done in order to make schools safe. An officer in each school would only be a starting point.

  5. I agree.

There are 300 million firearms in the US. They're not going away. There are highly intelligent, psychopathic, homicidal/suicidal people in the US. They aren't going away either (thank the ACLU in part for that).

The magazine argument is ridiculous in that a shooter will carry as much ammo as he wants, whether in 30-round mags or many more 10-round mags.

Gun-free zones are ridiculous. They are unarmed target zones.

Gun confiscation or buy-backs are ridiculous. Even if the left could magically make everything with a firing pin disappear, there will still be psychopaths who will do harm to others and themselves by simply hitting the Internet for 'How to make a IED/car bomb/etc.

In Carroll County every school has a resource officer. Most are sheriff's deputies, at least one is a retired state trooper. Most have their cruisers parked in front of the school. They carry sidearms.

    There is your deterrent.

Somebody can still force their way into a school and start shooting, but the deaths and injuries will be diminished, if not prevented, by having an armed police officer on-site to begin with.

The mainstream media's screed has been about all the mass shootings. None have talked about the potential mass shootings stopped by either an armed officer or a person with a concealed carry permit on site.

I'd suggest you go to anncoulter.com and read her latest column for numerous examples on this.

Me? I'm taking my CC course next week.

There was an armed officer on duty inside Columbine.

  6. I was just watching CNN and they was interviewing a guy and he was questioning and trying to blame GOD for the shooting he said where was GOD at why didnt he stop this senseless act.... GOD never promised a bed of roses for anybody while here on earth I was brought up not to question what GOD does or doesnt do but to believe in him no matter the situation..... this was a senseless act but but this guy made a mistake by trying to blame and question GOD IMO

I also find it stange that many Christians immediately came out and started saying that this happened because "prayer has been removed from school". Isn't that basically saying that God did this to teach us a lesson for not allowing school sanctioned prayer.

But to be fair, if you believe each story in the Bible in a literal sense, then you already believe that God killed or had someone/something kill many children throughout the Bible...so I guess it wouldn't be a huge stretch.

  7. I really don't believe the media on much of anything and was trying to find the full story on this....

They keep showing the Bushmaster picture as it is the feature gun. At first disclosure, didn't they think he left that in the car? How many people just see that and believe that it was used?

*Side note: Went to Mahoney's in Abingdon today. Last time I was in there they had 25-30 ARs. Today they had 5. Also heard that Glock is waiting on some parts for their 9mm models which means they will not have any new ones until Feb 2013. Also heard one of the salesmen say that he thinks it will just become harder to get ARs (like a special application) and they will reduce the mags to 10. Anybody got any thoughts on that?

Here something sad I thought of today: by the time the State of the Union comes (and that is the date that the new Congress will start roughly)how many people in this country will have almost all but forgotten about the events in CT? They will go back to watching the voice, pulling for their NFL team and looking at Facebook.

The Bushmaster was the primary weapon used in the shooting. All 26 victims had gun shot wounds traced to that rifle, accordding to this article.

  8. #1 No because this has NOTHING to do with Benghazi.

Not to mention that no one on this board was saying anything about Benghazi the day that it happened.

#2 Like UVA said, facts prove that there was a coverup of Benghazi. Here you are getting off the subject and comparing two incidents. You are one sick person.

You're right, the incident that happened Friday has nothing to do with Benghazi. It was not my intention to compare the two. This thread is about gun control and the politicalization of tragic events on a political board. My only intention was to show that both sides can be guilty of it, and it is wrong either way. I fail to see how this makes me a sick person...but then again I guess that anyone who disagree with you must be an idiot and/or sick.

Also, I never said anyone on this board was saying anything about Benghazi the day it happened, but others outside of this forum were. I also haven't seen anyone on this board speak out for more gun control...I guess that means it isn't haappening, right?

You can continue to make personal remarks about my intelligence and character but it only goes to show the type of person that you are.

  10. Got a citation for that red herring?

But since you asked, it ended up that the Administration told bald-faced lies to cover the true stories up (not over a movie no one watched, but preplanned, etc.). Which completely validated all the politicalization.

Actually, I didn't ask anything. I only pointed out that it is dumb and insensitive to politicize any tragedy, not only when it happens to be about gun control.

For the records own several guns and have a CC permit. I am not anti gun. That doesnt mean there shouldn't be a serious debate about gun violence in this country; however, in the aftermath of a tragic event is not the time.

  11. They said that the school (like many I've been to around here) requires you to buzz in at a camera to get in the building, so how in the world did a guy apparently wearing military gear get into an elementary school? They're saying that he was a teacher's son there, but I'd still be skeptical about someone looking like that showing up at a school.

The buzzers at the door may help keep random people from just wondering into the school; however, if you have someone with guns and no regard for themselves or others, they could easily get in. They could break a window, forcibly open a door, or just wait outside the door until someone is coming out and sneak in while the door is open.

Just like metal detectors, they may stop an average person from bringing a gun into a school, but they would not stop this type of person. They are only in place to give people a sense of security, IMO.

  12. A TD nonetheless, the only offensive one we had. Collateral issue, friend.

Goes to show I didn't check box scores or the game film before posting...

To be fair, I did check the box score; however, I only checked it because I knew it wasn't over a 50 yard TD, because the entire drive was only around 50 yards.

But like you said, doesn't really matter.
