  1. Mark Richt actually has a lot of ties to Miami. He was a quarterback there back in the Howard Schnellenberger days. I don't think he's a good fit, though, he is (or at least pretends to be) a disciplinarian, and I think at Miami, Shannon proved that it was all about the wins. Shannon made great strides to clean up the program, but since he didn't win (at least how Miami fans think about winning), he's out. Richt is taking heat for Georgia's worst season in a while, but I think he'll weather the storm. They're 6-6, but came on strong later in the season, to make up for the horrid first half of the season.
  2. That is exactly why I asked about it. I've never seen Fred say such a thing, which is why I asked, SPECIFICALLY THOSE THAT WENT TO THE GAME, if it was correct. Of course, you come in here, unleashing a stream of insults and rants toward me for daring to EVEN ASK. Idiot. Like I said, I know Fred Simon. I played for Fred Simon a long time ago. I didn't "catch a glimpse" of him. I don't have access to the game film. I live in Georgia. I didn't go to the game, I did listen to it on the radio (if you had actually READ my original comment, you would have KNOWN that). Listening to the game, you cannot know specifics. If I hear "Beckett throws to Woodrum....incomplete pass", I can't know if: 1. Beckett threw a bad pass, or 2. Beckett threw a good pass, Woodrum dropped it, or 3. Beckett threw a good pass, Woodrum made a good attempt, but it was well defended. That is EXACTLY why I asked for those that went to the game to comment. I didn't ask for STUPID LITTLE FOUL-MOUTHED DISRESPECTFUL INTERNET BADASS IDIOTS like you to respond and act like an INTERNET BADASS. By the way, you still have not responded to my private message to you. Still waiting. For the seventeenth time, that is WHY I ASKED PEOPLE TO RESPOND. It is not Freddie's nature to do that, so....shocker...that is why I ASKED. Hoenstly, are you so dense you think I am going to leave? Not in the least. You get on here and act like an INTERNET BADASS, and think I'm going to leave because you type a bunch of words? I'm going nowhere, but several have already suggested that YOU ought to get out of here. Think about it. Gee, I've just been watching that for 30+ years. I don't think I needed your advice to keep watching. Yes, for us all to laugh at you.
  3. Thank you, kind sir. I was so focusing on Fred Simon, I slammed the wrong guy about being the one who throws players under the bus, that would indeed be DOUG Marrs.
  4. Let's take this stupid message one bit at a time... He didn't mention the officiating. Thank you for at least mentioning it, it did sound poor on the radio. But what Fred DID do was throw the players under the bus. Seriously...STFU with your personal attack. I sent you a private message, you talk big, and you know, you need to learn to SHUT YOUR SMART MOUTH. Put up or shut up, punk. You idiot. Calling me bandwagon? Seriously, STFU, you stupid little punk. I've probably been going to games since before you were BORN. You are a pathetic human being. You have no ability to interact with others. Eat me.
  5. Excuse me? Listen here, you pathetic jackwagon, I know Fred Simon. I played for Fred Simon...so shut your disrespectful mouth. Obviously, you're just too stupid to get my point. Fred threw the players under the bus, and took none of the blame. So seriously...stop acting like a moron.
  6. I listened to the game online, wasn't there, and wanted to see if anyone who went felt these comments by Fred Simon were fair and justified. First off, my philosophy is that a coach ought to be the first to accept blame, and the last to blame players. DOUG Marrs at Graham is sort of the opposite, he's the guy that always seems to blame the players. I've never felt that Fred Simon was that kind of guy. Admittedly, these quotes were taken right after the game, so I'll give him some slack, but they still trouble me. I don't know that coaching decisions lost this game, but a few things that concerned me were that we kept throwing the ball out of an empty backfield, even when the run was working, and we were throwing into a stiff (reported to be 30 mph??) wind. Also, we huddled twice on a running clock in the last 2 minutes of the game. Considering we lost by 5 (24-19), I have to wonder why we made those decisions. Anyway, here is what Simon said in the BDT http://bdtonline.com/localsports/x1468309058/Road-block “We didn’t tackle well,” Bluefield head coach Fred Simon said. “We didn’t play very good in the first half,” Simon said. “It took us until halftime before the players decided it was time to play.” I can agree, we seemed to have a lot of problems tackling their QB, who had 174 yards on 31 carries. But, the other comments? True? I just would have liked to see Simon take a little blame too.
  7. No idea. No idea at all. I'm also curious why Bluefield would HUDDLE on a running clock twice with less than 2 minutes left in the game. So stupid. Running the ball worked. So, Bluefield goes with an empty backfield, trying to pass into a very stiff (think they said almost 30 mph) wind. Makes no sense to me at all.
  8. Bluefield-Ravenswood game thoughts. (Final score 24-19) 1. Penalties for Bluefield. Roughing the passer, roughing the punter, helmet-to-helmet contact. Careless stuff, and some home-cooking (?). 2. Wasted oppurtunities. Bluefield huddling TWICE with less than 2 minutes left in the game on a RUNNING CLOCK. 3. Some really, REALLY bone-headed coaching for Bluefield. Insisting on going with the pass, out of an empty backfield, with a strong wind, and when the run was working. Stubborn? Something else? We were out of this game early on, and we played like it. Some really dumb stuff for Bluefield, and with some better decisions, we win this game.
  9. 33 seconds left in the game, Beckett throws an interception. GAME OVER.
  10. Less than a minute, and Bluefield is HUDDLING. This is freaking INSANE!!!
  11. 2:04 left in the game, Bluefield down 5 (24-19) How stupid...Bluefield is huddling on a running clock? WTF?
  12. No penalties no penalties no penalties!
  13. Starcher, the QB for Ravenswood, has 180+ rushing yards. They're gonna go to him every time.
  14. Steptoe touchdown (40+ yard) Ravenswood 24 Bluefield 19 5:24 left in the game!!!
  15. It's Ravenswood 21 Bluefield 12. Bluefield went away from the other thing working, which is the running game. It's a cold, windy night, and for some reason, Bluefield INSISTS on throwing the dang ball. Last time, we were intercepted.
  16. Un-freaking-believable. We're playing like we're down 5 scores. No need to act so dang desperate. But now...it's getting bad.
  17. Bluefield was doing well running the ball, and the wind is blowing hard, so what are they doing? Passing the ball, and failing. Beckett was just intercepted. Jeez.
  18. End of the third quarter, still Ravenswood 21 Bluefield 12.
  19. Jeez...we stopped Ravenswood on downs, and then roughed the kicker. Crap-tastic.
  20. Well goodness, maybe we should abandon that empty backfield after all, huh? LOL. Glad to make this closer. I think the attempt to go for the fake on the PAT was a bad idea. Too early to do that.
  21. Ravenswood 21 Bluefield 12 (went for the fake PAT, missed it) Levi Beckett 3 yard run
  22. Agreed. I'm not about to bash Freddy on this. We have a heck of a coaching staff, but we clearly did not adjust well to what Ravenswood was doing in the first half. We're not used to playing from behind, and I really hope they don't get so desperate, that we pass on every play. That empty backfield stuff worries me, the DL knows they can tee off and only pass rush, the linebackers know they can drop into coverage from the snap. Ravenswood is playing a zone coverage, we have to find where to get the ball to Woodrum, Steptoe, and Williams in the holes in that coverage.
  23. Tell ya what is concerning me. I am hearing them say "empty backfield" for Bluefield way too much. Gives the defense the idea exactly what you're doing. EDIT: HALFTIME, Ravenswood 21 Bluefield 6.
  24. (sigh) Bluefield was driving, had first and goal, and then FUMBLED the ball. Ugh. Still 21-6, not a comfortable place for Bluefield. What the? So Ravenswood has the ball, and after the first play, BLUEFIELD calls a time out. Not enough of those to make them punt. Waste of a time out, and maybe helped Ravenswood have more time to run the field with about 40 seconds left. And then...they do it again. Called time out and forced 3rd down, but Bluefield has no more time outs.
