  1. i'm glad all you people think its going to be a blowout b/c it will be that much sweeter when the riders are headed back north to weirton on i77 thinking about going to wheeling island and you guys are still at mitchell stadium thinking, man that's three years in a row we haven't brought home the title!!!haha...weir will win this ball game!!!im glad you don't give them a chance, b/c noone did last year and remember what happened!!!
  2. let's talk about noone cares what's going to happen 2006 and as for 2005, i think the defending aa state champion weir red riders will take home the crown again...it's theirs to lose...but keep dreaming for your ring in 2006, it could happen, but it most likely wont!!!
  3. i realize that this is an old post, but since i am new on the board and i was at the game i thought i'd add my two cents...weir had a very good team this year led by all-state pither brandon coxen, who didn't throw against shady spring b/c he pitched the game before against bridgeport...weir was the best team in aa and had to beat sevaral good teams to get there...i believe the best team they played in the postseason was magnolia...weir had to rally late to beat them....look for weir to repeat in 2005 b/c they only lost one sophonmore, and even though it was coxen, they have a more than adequate pitching staff coming back with qautrocchi, phillips, marino, and hayden!!!
  4. the difference in this game is weir's ability to mix it up...they want to pass, spaz will air it out to one of his many targets including crow and dawand smith, weir wants to run it down bluefield's throat, cooper will get the bulk of the handoffs, weir wants to run it with power and speed then they have josh smith...and as for bluefield rocks who says im crazy b/c i think weir can hold bluefield to 14, im not, it might be a little higher scoring game than that but im sticking with my prediction....weir defense is stifling and bluefield will quickly find out on saturday just how good it is!!!
  5. beaverbaseball, are you crazy...i hope you don't actually think that bluefield will beat weir that bad, b/c they are not going to beat them at all first of all....and i wish your bluefield baseball team would have got to the state tourney so the STATE CHAMPION red riders could have put bout 15-20 runs on you!!! again.... Weir-24 Blufield-14
  6. weir's line isn't huge, they have good size and are also very quick...sperlazza has thrown 11 tds in the last two playoff games...cooper is a tank at fullback and will stick anyone while on defense...crow is very quick and had 5 td grabs against jm....dawand smith is tall, has good speed, and excellent leaping ability...josh smith combines speed, power, and finesse very well at tailback Weir-24 Bluefield-14 as for the person who asked about the indian creek and wheeling central games... indian creek is a very solid ohio program...their record was 7-3, with a loss coming at the end of the season that should have never occurred...weir didnt come to play that day and indian creek did...their qb was excellent and they had very talented backs as well as a solid line...weir had a chance to tie it at the end of the game with a 2pt conversion but didnt convert...if this game was played at the end of the season, weir would have won!!! as for the central game...weir got the shaft, plain and simple...the refs were horrible....i have never said that the refs cost a team the game, but i'm saying it now...they had it out for weir and you could tell...their were many questionable calls including a safety where sperlazza clearly threw a forward pass but the refs called it a lateral and when it got batted down and weir fell on it in the endzone, it was ruled a safety..central didnt score a td in the game, just two field goals and the safety...weir scored and then converted the 2 pt conversion attempt only to have it come back on a bogus holding penalty...and their was also a very questionable spot at the end of the game that would have made it first down for the riders, but instead was a turnover on downs and central ran the clock out. not that any of this matters now b/c weir made the playoffs and records mean absolutely nothing now!!!
