  1. I want to commend the fans from Tazewell on their school spirit. The student body never sat down and cheered loudly throughout. You would not know that this team had not won a football game in several seasons.

I have noticed that the last couple of years lately Tazewell seems to have one of the better student sections around and while they haven't had much to get excited about their stands in general have been pretty loud at times. I am a Richlands fan and was on the Richlands side last week during the Union game I was kind of disappointed with the crowd reaction and hardly heard the band at all. I think Union's band was louder.

  2. Just for arguements sake, does anyone know what the record is over the history or where to find it?

I know probably 4 or 5 years ago someone had a flier with all the results on it and at that time I want to say Tazewell was up by 1 game. Richlands has won every one since so I am going to guess the record right now is Richlands by either 3 or 4. I maybe wrong on the exact numbers but I was thinking something like 49-46

  3. Lou is a good coach no arguing that but his statements at the end make him look bad in my opinion. Yes the umps need to keep control but he also has to be responsible for his team the catcher, #22 (Taz), and #4 (CC) should all be suspended for some period of time and the coaches should also be punished in some manner. 22 and 4 should probably get the most severe punishment the two of them had no business being involved in the play at all.

  4. nothing wrong with Coach Wyatt at all...other than choosing to try and coach at Tazewell.

Coach Wyatt wasn't without some fault in the demise of that relationship remember the man scheduled his vacation during the playoffs just assuming that his team wouldn't make it. Then while his team was preparing he was on a cruise.

  5. No, they sold ~152,000 tickets. Only 8,120ish were unsold. But only 102,000 were what walked through the gates.

That's not the numbers I saw today I saw that they sold 102,000 tickets, 8,120 went unused and that meant somewhere around 94,000 people actually at the race. But I could be mistaken. Either way between the new resurface, the COT, and the fact that the drivers just aren't likable anymore just corporate faces all lead to bad news for Bristol.

  6. Apparently Erik announced today via face book that the show will now be on Friday night instead of Saturday and the lineup will be The local group Folk Soul Revival, Lee Brice, Jake Owen and Eric Church. The line up is no where near as loaded as last year but it also appears there are no plans to market it as much either.

  7. I am glad you said interest does not mean offers you said exactly what I meant to say. There is also nothing wrong with either of those schools and I am sure he could develop into a very good player at either. You also hit what I was shooting all around with out saying he doesn't have quite as many offers as people on here think.

  8. Seems like a horrible sign to me that Hess probably is going to end up at a local small school. Every time someone locally is being recruited and they don't make some announcement by now they are headed to E&H or UVA-Wise if he does so be it and I wish him the best of luck. Usually it is never a good sign when a kid that we have heard all along has all these offers and is visiting schools every weekend has no future home by now.

  9. side note...wonder where Cburg will fall if the VHSL goes to the 6A plan? Grundy is going back up to AA so this might be interesting to see how it shakes things up in wrestling under the new alignment.

The list I saw which would put equal number it teams in all 6 classes said that Cburg would be in AAA. But I heard their was some talk about sports like wrestling having only 2 state tourneys A-AAA together and 4A-6A together

  10. I am glad it's that simple to beat Richlands just stop their division 1 running back and you win it's amazing that no other coach around here figured that one out. That wasn't Richlands starting defense or special team at any point tonight. 24 made one great run as a senior against the 4th string JV defense I don't think we can name him a beast just yet. That being said I give Tazewell props they never quit.

  11. It would have been the football season of 2002. Richlands ended up going to the regional finals that year and getting beaten badly by Magna Vista in the coldest football game I have ever sat through. Magna Vista looked like a small college that year. Then Richlands was awarded the regional championship a few weeks later when it was revealed that Magna Vista had an ineligible player. One of the few times a high school team can win their last playoff game and not win a state championship.

  12. I agree obviously with both of those two but just my humble opinion I think Taylor Wade is the best offensive lineman in Southwest Virginia. For the past 3 years he has been named to the all state team and I can't remember anytime in the past 3 years when he has had a bad snap.

  13. Aren't they usually ranked pretty high nationally year in, year out?

They are normally top 10 although one site this year had them around 50th and had I think Maryville, TN in the 30s so that might be the only team in an adjoining state ahead of them in rankings.
