i graduated a couple of years before jeremy mccommins...he had a tremendous junior year but lost alot of lineman and didn't have nearly as good a senior year.....don't know if it will happen to marcum but i suspect it might.......and i know jennings will have a better line blocking in front of him
actually i would be surprised if anyone from the swd makes it.......inman from tunstall and widener from abingdon will make it....don't know how many more they would take from region iv..but figure tunstall to have more..
not really stupid...lol..marcum is obviously the favorite..but i knew if i predicted caleb to win it i would get some responses....although caleb could win it
a birdie is telling me brintle hit at around .404 and Reed roughly the same average........with brintle leading the team in rbi's......but i think brintle's more important stats are his pitching stats......6 and 1 on the year i think.
i'm not trying to slight marcum.......i just think jennings will have a better line with lanes to run thru....people will not be able to key on him and i don't think there is anyone better in the region once they get into the open field...
i think they will have to worry about the passing game first.....quarterback with a big arm......tall receivers (stanton, brandon g, and others.......can't just key on jennings
no doubt marcum will get more carries.......but i suspect it will be a similar situation to cain ringstaffs yards per carry out of the I formation last year...everyone will key on marcum this year......ringstaff probably averaged 2 yds per carry out of the I and 10 ypc out of the spread formation.....everyones gonna be looking for marcum....caleb will average at least 7 yds per carry this year.....probably more..
if richlands goes to the spread offense i predict caleb jennings will run wild.......and end up with more yardage than garon marcum......anyone agree???
so of the 3 first team all region 4 selections.......Josh Brintle (THS)..O.J. Reed (THS).....D.J. Simmons (RHS)......who will make first team all-state????
excellent point...apparently some people on here think that a kid improving his prospects in life by holding back (even though its legal) is a terrible thing. How many times does the fact that age is regulated have to be pointed out???
unethical???.....thats one of the stupidest things i have ever heard...there are usually fewer than 10 hold backs per school....not enough to burden the taxpayers..and its usually done for the purpose of gaining a scholarship...the v.h.s.l. regulates age.......so whats the problem?
