Abingdon 5-0 over Richlands.

Abingdon won the game 4-1. Great game by both teams Carroll County scored with about twenty seconds to go in the game.

Abingdon 5-0 over Virginia High Neil Henry four goals Zack Jarrett one.

Your right no one should worry at all about Abingdon. They seem to be very weak this year. Good luck to everyone it looks like the district is up for grabs.

1-0 at the half. Abingdon scored on an on goal from Marion. Neil Henry scored on a header in the second half. Possession was about 80-20 Abingdon. Marion other than a few set plays had no shots on frame that i can recall. Abingdon probably had at least 15 on frame the keeper played really well for Marion. Abingdon also had a goal taken away for an offsides. Marion to their credit fought hard the whole game and actually applied some decent preasure at the end but it was to little to late. Pretty steady game for Abingdon. Marion played the game they had to make the score close. Good game by both teams.

"Get blown out in the regionals every year"? I don't know if anyone has ever told you but Abingdon is the two time defending region IV champions and they only lost 1-0 to cave springs last year in state. Cave springs went on to become state runner-up. Abingdon has already, scrimmage or not, played tennessee high, cave springs and salam. Because john battle is in the same county and five minutes down the road they have to play each other.Abingdon dropped PH and kept Va high because they were a better match-up and a rival the rest of their games are all district. Besides, and i mean no disrespect at all, Graham did play Blacksburg last year and it has not made them an ounce better. You either have a good team or you don't. Feeder programs and off season work outs as well as travel teams all make your team better. By the time the season rolls around other than some minor adjustments your team only has so much potential regaurdless of who you play. I think it's time everyone in this area stop being afraid of everyone else in the state and start realizing that we can play soccer with all but a handfull of teams across the state. I am proud that soccer in this area has improved every year but i am amazed at how much we put ourselves down. Good luck to everyone.

Abingdon has already tied Cave Springs and beaten Salam and Martinsville defeated Hidden Valley while Carroll County defeated Christiansburg i believe. I would say that would seem to dispell the myth about teams here having no chance. The river ridge is very beatable this year with the exception of Blacksburg.

Abingdon 10-0 Neil Henry 4 goals in about a half of play.

Abingdon 5-0 Neil Henry 3 goals and an assist.

Abingdon 3-0 over Tennessee High. 4 goals were waived off for off-sides. Abingdon 0-0 against Cave Springs in a 40 min. game. Abingdon 3-2 over Salem in a full game.

Abingdon defeated Marion 3-1 Goals were scored by Henry, Alves, and Beaty for Abingdon and Freeman continued his one PK a game average with a PK late in the game after going down in the box.

Abingdon defeated Tazewell 5-1 but should of had at least 10 0r 12 goals. Two or three goals were wiped off because of offsides and they missed at least 8-10 break away shots from around the PK area, they just rushed the shots. Tazewell only had about 4 shots on goal. TJ had a hand ball that caused everyone to stop play the ref told everyone to keep playing so he kicked a high ball with the wind and scored from about 35 out after the keeper had walked off his line on the hand ball. Tazewell played hard and did all they could but Abingdon was just to strong for it to even be a game. Hats off to Tazewell they never gave up.

Abingdon over UH 6-0. The game was stopped with about 25 minutes left because of weather.

Abingdon over Richlands 9-0

Abbingdon won 8-0 by slaughter rule George Wyth requested the game be stoped after trailing 8-0 at the half. Abingdons starters only played about 20 minutes.

Abingdon only played their starters about 10 mins. into the second half. When the score was 8-0 they put the bench in to finish the last 30. Tazewell scored one on the second string goalie and one on the third string goalie. Abingdon was missing a starter and the brazilian only played for a short period and didnt start. Tazwell had one shot on goal in the first half.

I have no doubt that Abingdon has talent enough to win more then half of their games, talent has never been the issue. I do have concerns about what seemed to be problems with the coaching. If i am not mistakin most of the coaching staff refused to return as long as the current head coach remains, and the last i heard people were not lining up to fill the coaching void. I hear that they will have to look outside of the school to find people to coach because no one at abingdon will coach. The team should do very well in my opinion and should win the highlands but time will tell.

Abingdon only loses two starters, pretty much the entire team returns. Their j.v was undefeated as well.

The Abingdon Martinsville game was postponed because of weather and no lights, a time has not been set yet.

Abingdon defeated Virginia High 6-0 and remains undefeated this season. It was a well played game with Abingdon scoring two goals in the first half and four in the second. At 3-0 in the district its Abingdons to lose.
