  1. Wouldn't it be great if the players went on strike until the real refs came back...

One things for certain, I won't watch another NFL game until the scabs are gone.

    This.

I feel terrible for the players and, yes, even the replacement refs. Call or no call, missed review or not, these guys know that they aren't qualified to referee at this level and will probably admit that they have no business on an NFL field. D-III and NIAA is literally a step above a high school ref, am I right?

The blame is to be placed solely on Roger Goodell's shoulders. He is taking a great product and making a mockery of it by cutting corners.

  2. Gonna be a tough one for the G-Men.

Princeton, despite their record, has potential to be a good football team. They are probably the most physical team Graham will see this season outside of Richlands and they have comparable overall team speed to Bluefield. I'm not sure if he's healthy or not, but their RB Johnson is definitely the fastest kid in the area and arguably in the state of WV. If he gets loose no one will catch him.

Graham better come out prepared because Princeton has the size and speed to give them problems if they let the Tigers hand around.

  3. Another Braves win and Medlen shutout. 21 straight wins when he takes the mound.

He is absolutely dealing right now. 8-1 in 10 starts with a 0.74 ERA.

I know he has no shot, but IMO he is Cy Young worthy. If he would've started in April and put up this kind of effort all season long then it would be a run away. He's by far the best pitcher in baseball right now.

  4. Don't believe polls...they can be fixed to where you survey a certain sector of people and not get a true reading...

    This.

I read somewhere the other day that a lot of these polls consider an extremely large amount of the 18-25 year old population as liberal and include them in their numbers as so, but when it comes to Election Day much of this age group stays home and doesn't cast a vote.

Many studies have shown that this demographic was the key to Obama's landslide victory in '08 because they came out in droves. We'll see if history repeats itself in a few short months.

  5. Was that a West Virginia message board, by any chance? Just curious.

As this was a vote of the university presidents, I'd be VERY surprised to learn that Charles Steger would have voted against it. Tech's administration doesn't seem to be in any position to make waves in terms of the internal politics of the ACC, nor does there seem to be any motivation for us to do so.

The increase in the exit fee seems to indicate that some members were flirting with other leagues (FSU and Clemson being the more likely candidates there), but Virginia Tech definitely was not one of them.

No not a WV board, I read it on the Rivals Main Board. I believe it was actually a FSU fan that mentioned it. I'll try to go back and find the exact quote and/or additional info for you but there are a million threads started every minute about the same topic so its like finding a needle in the haystack.

  6. ACC exit fee raised to $50M too. Looks like no one should leave the ACC. I wonder if any of the schools voted against ND coming in under these circumstances or if this is a process when their TV deal runs out in 2015.

Is it too late to trade the Big East John Swafford for Notre Dame???

I read secondhand info on another message board that 4 ACC schools voted against this and are pissed it happened. Those schools? VT, GT, Clemson, and FSU.

  7. Sheets is a athelete. He playes all over the field when they need him. Everyone was talking about what a good QB he was until the Richlands game, now this. Not everyone can throw 38 screen passes a game against a team that has no idea how to cover a pass of any sort. Dadgum did you go to the game, nothing but their d line busting our o line in the mouth. They moved Sheets to WR and RB to get him in space and good things happened. Then went away from it, dont know why but they did. I honestly cant tell you how many times recievers had noone within a ten yard radius of them, for Richlands. Hopefully Graham can fix this. I wish Sheets had gone to Richlands and played Graham, then maybe someone would give the kid respect for playing for his team and making it better any way he could instead of going to Richlands or Bluefield. I believe last year the score was thirty something to nothing with the second string playing the entire second half. If I remember Baker played for Graham last year against Richlands/Bluefield. Lets down Sheets. Baker was second in passing throwing twice as much as Sheets AND sheets led the team in rushing, but they always shared the stats in the paper and on the radio, wonder why. If you want to make a statement about greatness lead a team to wins dont transfer to a winner. Like going from NC state to Alabama and talking about how great you are. There is a big difference between playing behind Grahams line and Richlands. In four years that margine will decline greatly.Weightlifting is a fairly new idea at Graham and the results are showing in the first year.

God bless you boy, we are all proud of you, dont listen to peoples daddys.

Relax, no one was talking bad about Sheets.

If your reading comprehension was a bit better then you would see that everyone in this thread was extremely complimentary of Sheets actually. He is the best player on Graham's team and moving him to the slot gets the ball in the best player's hands easily. He is too small to make a difference in the middle of the field. Get him on the outside and he's one of the best ATHLETES on the field as he's shown every game this season. Sheets is an ATHLETE not a QB. Nothing wrong with that if you use him correctly.

I still see sour grapes about Baker torching you though. I'd be pissed too if I was a Graham fan. The kid made a decision regarding his future and it has paid off for him obviously. Richlands now has a serviceable QB that fits their system and Graham isn't hurting with Sheets. What's the problem?

  8. Graham beat us in 07. Then, 2 weeks later, Bluefield beat us on a last sec. FG. Same year. And the Gate City game is the last loss. I had completely forgotten about that one.

Damn, I didn't know y'all lost to both Bluefield and Graham in the same season.

  9. Well, I know its officially football season, but things are looking OK for the Braves as of today...

7.0 game overall lead in the NL Wild Card Race

5.5 games back in the NL East

    99.3% of making the playoffs

    21 games above .500

Andletron Simmons is back in the lineup tonight and ready to go.

The East may be out of reach at 5.5 games back, but a 3-game series win/sweep at home against the Nats this weekend could make things interesting. Couple in the fact that WAS has 3 games left against LAD and STL and 6 to play against Philly... and they aren't pitching Strasburg anymore.

If the Braves win some games down the stretch we may be looking at a division title. Not holding my breath, but its still a little exciting to think about.
