watch out for graham and tazewell, although i think moreso graham than tazewell. t. wyatt is doing a really, really nice job with those girls there, particularly considering the environment at ghs as it relates to girls athletics.
as someone quite familiar with vt recruiting and vt's recruiting practices, i can quite confidently say "um no". did i say it wouldn't be beneficial whatsoever? i did not. i said it won't be big for us, and it won't be.
consider this--for years, there have been state championship games at scott stadium. how has that positively affected uva's in-state recruiting? i'll answer that one for you: it hasn't. vt pulls in va's top guys quite consistently already. and, seeing as (obviously) only two teams play for a title, most of va's top guys aren't usually in a state title game.
um, no. the guys we want to go after, we'll have already gone after by that time, and the guys we want to see, we'll have come to our one-day camps. besides, it's not like beamer & co couldn't send somebody to wherever the game is played; they've been doing it for years, as it is.
grayson lost in the state semis to eventual champion, strasburg. grayson's loss came 15-13 in 5 games. the last point came on a judgment "net" call. it was, in my opinion, a horrible call, and i officiated vball for 3yrs. but, grayson should've put them away when the opportunity was there.
other state champions:
aaa boys - thomas dale hs def. frank w. cox hs
aaa girls - deep run hs def. langley hs
aa girls - loudoun county hs def. grafton hs (one of the
Salem destroyed Carroll. River Ridge District is the best district in the state overall. Look at what all they dominate.

i'm inclined to agree with you on the river ridge. top to bottom, every sport, they've always got somebody up for a state title.
as it is, grayson co's vball team beat rye cove in straight sets on tuesday to advance to the state semifinals, which will be played on friday night, finals saturday evening. good luck devils!
no freaking way fuller would ever be a te in blacksburg. a.) he doesn't have the frame (specifically the height) for it, and b.) tech's got a ton of te's already: wheeler, drager, boone, etc (nosal's expected to move to ot).
i've heard he'll have a shot as a possession receiver and also at safety.
yeah, it took me a good while to jump on the bandwagon, but this is really a great show. it's nothing like the movie or the book--it's so much more than either. imo, it should be required viewing for all football fans not attending a game.
back when the two teams played, the hokie football players i had class with would come to class complaining about having batteries thrown at them while they were standing on the sidelines in morgantown.

the tazewell county school board is pathetic, and that's putting it mildly.
